[Update #3]: I'm happy to say that World of Warcraft: Classic has now been officially released and that the servers are practically overflowing with players!

[Update #2]: Blizzard has announced they will be adding a whole bunch of new WoW Classic servers on August 26th, right before launch!

[Update]: Due to high demand, Blizzard has now added two new PvP servers!

If you're looking to create the perfect World of Warcraft: Classic character ahead of the August 26th release date, you might want to hop onto BattleNet as soon as possible. Long story short, Blizzard has now finally opened character creation and name reservation for WoW Classic!

The only real requirement is that you have a currently active World of Warcraft subscription. Besides that, all you need to do is change to WoW Classic on BattleNet, log into the game, and create a character on whichever server you like. During this pre-launch period you'll be limited to three characters per account, though once WoW Classic goes live, you'll be able to create ten characters per realm and fifty in total.

Beyond, No Man's Sky's biggest free update so far, is set to arrive this August 14th

[Update]: No Man's Sky update has now added living ships, strange space encounters, as well as even more quality-of-life changes.

It is no secret that No Man's Sky launched as a bit of a mess. To put it simply, it was a skeleton of a game, filled with a whole bunch of interesting ideas and features, but without anything to actually connect them or give them a purpose. Just another in a long line of games that tried to bite off far more than it could possibly chew.

Usually the story would end there, but Hello Games thankfully chose to go for a bit of a different path. Instead of simply abandoning No Man's Sky for a brand new project, they got to work on the herculean task of fleshing out the core gameplay and turning No Man's Sky into something you'd want to not only play frequently, but also get your friends interested in as well!

Killing Floor 2 devs are looking to start selling individual weapons as DLC

Creating a multiplayer-focused game is an incredibly difficult task, especially for a smaller studio. Even if the stars align and you end up with a solid playerbase at the very start, it's often quite challenging to get those players to stick around for long periods of time. And without a large assortment of players, getting the funding necessary to continue developing new content becomes increasingly more problematic, which then only further pushes players away.

As you might imagine from the title alone, Tripwire has currently found themselves in exactly this situation with Killing Floor 2. According to the most recent developer post, they are more than willing to keep adding new content, but the cost simply outstrips any returns such updates might bring. So in order to correct this while still bringing in new content, Tripwire are looking to start selling individual weapons as DLC.

[Update #2]: I'm happy to say that World of Warcraft: Classic has now been officially released and that the servers are practically overflowing with players!

[Update]: World of Warcraft: Classic's character creation and name reservation services are now live!

Blizzard has recently announced that they will be opening character creation for World of Warcraft: Classic on August 12th. So if you have a currently active subscription and a desire to play WoW Classic, make sure to use that opportunity to get some of your favorite names reserved for the official launch on August 26th.

However, you can't exactly create your characters without knowing which server you and your friends will be on, which is why I'm glad to say that Blizzard has now finally released the list of WoW Classic server names and types! What I'm not quite as happy with are the server names they have chosen, as you'll quickly realize once you start going through them.

Vermintide 2 update has now corrected some of the recently introduced balance problems

[Update]: Vermintide 2's Winds of Magic expansion has now arrived for PC players. The console versions are still under development, though no release date has been announced just yet.

Vermintide 2's Winds of Magic expansion is set to arrive in the near future, bringing with it a series of increasingly more challenging content. So in order to set the stage, as well as to iron out some of the balance problems, Fatshark has recently released a massive update that has reworked combat from the ground up.

As you might imagine from such a big update, not everything has gone exactly according to plan. In other words, the update brought with it a rather massive spike in difficulty, so much so that even the veterans of the series found themselves struggling with the lowliest of ratmen. This was especially apparent on some of the faster weapons as they simply could not stagger the enemy hordes in time, which would then quickly lead to the players getting drowned under an entire sea of Skaven and Chaos fanatics.

Final Fantasy XIV devs are looking to condense some of the more tedious story quests

[Update]: The story rework has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

One of the first things people told me when I started playing Final Fantasy XIV is that I would have to go through an unbearable amount of simple quests in order to reach the really juicy expansions. Initially I genuinely didn't understand what they were talking about, because even though things were a bit too simple for my tastes, it wasn't that big of a deal for an MMO's early-game.

However, once I progressed through the main storyline further, I quickly realized what they meant - dozens upon dozens upon dozens of quests with no real weight or interest to them, all of which are mandatory to move onto the significantly more exciting expansions. I had a friend with me so it wasn't as tedious as it could've been, but it's definitely something I would never want to inflict upon any new player.

[Update]: The upcoming Invasions expansion is bringing in a race of highly militaristic and rather sneaky Lizardmen.

After a fairly solid Age of Wonders 3, Triumph Studios have now returned with the brand new and standalone Age of Wonders: Planetfall. It brings with it a massive new world to explore, a variety of highly customizable factions, numerous upgrades and research options to toy around with, and naturally, a whole bunch of different routes towards victory.

However, since that can apply to just about every single 4X strategy game these days, allow me to also share with you the recently posted launch trailer. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Age of Wonders: Planetfall is all about. Have a gander:
