Minecraft's Super Duper Graphics Pack is no longer being developed

Back in 2017 Mojang announced that they are working on a massive new update for Minecraft - the Super Duper Graphics Pack. This was supposed to be a complete visual overhaul of Minecraft, including reworked lighting, new models and textures, as well as comprehensive changes to how the whole graphics engine functions.

A truly ambitious project, but it would appear that it was a bit too ambitious. According to the most recent developer update, the Minecraft team is unfortunately no longer working on the Super Duper Graphics Pack.

Apex Legends update has added a Solos mode and a bunch of pricey cosmetics

[Update]: The second "Voidwalker" event has now arrived with a redesigned area and a bunch of new cosmetics!

If you're like me and you've been itching from the start for Apex Legends to add a Solos mode, you'll be happy to hear that Respawn has now finally done just that. Admittedly, the Solos mode is only a limited time event so it will be going away in the not too distant future, but it's definitely as fun as I expected it would be!

The circle closes down much faster than in the normal mode so everyone is pushed together within the first five minutes, there is no real reason to spend an eternity looting items when you can simply go for the more fun option of looting other players, and best of all, you get to practice your aiming skills without negatively impacting any of your teammates! So if even if you're a bit worried about your performance, I'd highly recommend giving the Solos mode a try as it will help you iron out any gameplay flaws real quick, all due to the amount of firefights you'll find yourself in.

Overwatch's new main tank Sigma has arrived alongside the long-awaited Role Queue

[Update #2]: Role Queue has now been officially released for both Competitive and Quick Play!

[Update]: Overwatch devs have now answered some of the most common questions about Role Queue and the intend behind it.

After a few dozen leaks and an extended testing phase, Role Queue has now finally made its way to Overwatch. The new system will now ensure each team has exactly two supports, two tanks and two DPS, while also giving you the ability to queue for exactly the role (or roles) you want. Best of all, each role has its own unique matchmaking rating, so regardless of what role you decide to play, you'll be matched with people of equal skill! Right now Role Queue is only up and running in the competitive mode, though it will become available in quick play on September 1st as well.

Besides Role Queue, the highlight of this update is definitely the new main tank Sigma. Not only does he have a downright awesome story trailer, but he's also another shield-focused tank to help give some diversity to poor main tank players that have been stuck on Orisa and Reinhardt for literal years at this point. Here's what Sigma can offer:

Destiny 2 official artwork for the Shadowkeep expansion

Destiny 2 will be leaving Blizzard's BattleNet platform and transferring over to Steam in October. This move will also be marked with a transition towards a free-to-play model with optional expansion packs, as well as a whole bunch of other general changes.

So if you would like to have your PC character survive the move towards Steam, you'll need to link your two accounts over at Bungie's PCmove website. The service will become available on August 20th and will allow you transfer absolutely everything, including your expansion purchases, so do make sure to go through the process or you'll find yourself starting from the very beginning on Steam.

[Update]: The developers have now released ~13 minutes of pure gameplay footage. Perfect if you're still unsure about The Surge 2!

Souls-inspired The Surge 2 will be making its way to both PC and consoles on September 24th, bringing with it a variety of improvements over its predecessor. You can expect to see significantly more customization, more precise combat mechanics, a less cramped world to explore, and naturally, a boatload of new enemies to endlessly die against.

If you're wondering how all of this might translate into gameplay, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. It's not a very long preview, but it's certainly a fancy-looking one. Have a gander:

[Update]: Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is aiming to be bigger, better and bolder than all of its predecessors.

After a somewhat disappointing Trine 3, the puzzle-platformer series will be returning this October 8th for both PC and consoles. It'll bring with it a whole bunch of beautiful artwork spread across a variety of 2.5D levels, online and local co-op for up to four players, a newly enhanced combat system, and naturally, more environmental puzzles to endlessly cheese with the wizard character!

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in-game through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, the artwork really is lovely:

The next Total War Saga spin-off game will apparently be all about Troy

Total War Saga official artwork

Now that Total War: Three Kingdoms has fully launched and Total War: Warhammer 3 is still a spec on the horizon, it seem like the perfect time for a bit of experimentation. As such, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to hear that Creative Assembly is apparently working on a new Total War Saga game!

This information comes to us from the Intellectual Property Office, so while there has been no official confirmation from Creative Assembly, the report is most likely going to end up being true. I certainly hope so anyway, because a Total War Saga spin-off based around Troy would be genuinely fun to mess around with!
