Microsoft's Project Spark artwork

Project Spark is, or rather was Microsoft's game creation kit that boasted the ability to allow even the most ordinary layman to create their very own video game, which as you might expect came with some rather crippling limitations that ended up being its downfall.

While unfortunate, this shouldn't be surprising news to anyone that followed the project as it "transitioned from active development" last fall and was rarely mentioned ever since. Here's a 'brief' excerpt from the announcement message:

Total War: Warhammer's zombie dragon in its full glory

After a short period of silence the Total War: Warhammer team is back once more, this time around with a gameplay video showcasing all of the ways you can use magic to turn the battle in your favor.

As you might expect there are plenty of ways to blow up, electrocute, or otherwise send your opponents into the next dimension, but also numerous ways to cripple or empower units, and even spells that just chuck a whole bunch of zombies at the enemy's back-line. Here's the video:

Screenshot of Arma 3 featuring tanks

Arma 3 is a rather hardcore military sim, so its understandable if many of you have heard about it, but never decided to gamble a decent chunk of change on whether its something you'd like, or not.

If you belong in that camp you'll be glad to hear that Arma 3 is currently free to play on Steam, and will remain completely free for the next two days, so if you ever wanted to check it out now would be the best time. Here's the somewhat old launch trailer that should still get you up to speed on what to expect from Arma 3:

Gul'Dan from World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft's popularity brought about the creation of the Warcraft movie, so it only makes sense that the movie's popularity would inspire someone to close the circle.

While we're not talking about a complete recreation of the Warcraft movie within World of Warcraft, a Youtuber by the name of Ivan Kuzkin managed to painstakingly reproduce the movie's trailer through the use of in-game assets, a good eye for details, and some post-production sorcery. Have a look, its surprisingly faithful to the original:

Dark Souls 3 invader PvP

If you've played any amount of Dark Souls 3 PvP you've most likely realized that no matter what armor your opponents wear they all seem to stagger with more or less the same amount of hits, even with fast and extremely light weapons such as rapiers.

Unfortunately, in a brief message sent to Kotaku Bandai Namco has confirmed that this is not a bug, or even a balance oversight, but rather the correct way poise functions in Dark Souls 3. Here's the full quote:

Lucio from Overwatch fighting Tracer

While I knew Overwatch would be big, it being a Blizzard game after all, I'll be the first one to admit that I didn't expect it to catch on this rapidly.

But catch on it did, and throughout its excruciatingly 'short' run-time Overwatch had managed to snag 9.7 million players, and secure an impressive 81 million hours of playtime from them, which comes up to 8 hours per person! To put things into perspective, Star Wars: Battlefront had 9.5 million players, The Division a respectable 6.4 million, Destiny a slightly lower 4.6 million, and finally, Battleborn had 2 million players during its Open Beta.

Here's what Blizzard's CEO, co-founder, and main Orc-person Mike Morhaime had to say about the team's massive achievement:

Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster screenshot of Yuna on PC

After its existence has been leaked numerous times now, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has finally made its way to PC, and from what I can see on forums its a relatively amazing port, the 30 FPS lock aside.

You can grab it on Steam for $20/€20, which includes the 20% discount that's going to be running until May 19th. If you're wondering how it looks in action, here's the most recent launch trailer:

Overwatch Genji showing off his Dragon Blade

Overwatch is Blizzard's team-based shooter that features stylish visuals, characters oozing with personality, and most importantly, incredibly smooth gameplay. It has its fair share of flaws as well, but despite the occasional frustrating moment I would say I had plenty of fun with it during my 20 or so hours of playtime.

If you missed your chance with the Open Beta and want to see how all of it looks in action, here are some of the more interesting matches I've recorded in full, each one starring either Genji, Tracer, or Soldier 76. Have a look, and hopefully fun as well:

Civilization 6's promo art starring the statue of Atlas

If you ever thought your free time is safe now that Civilization V has a few years behind it and is no longer as gripping as it was the day it first released, I'm afraid I have some bad news as Civlization VI has just been announced.

In standard Civilization tradition, the announcement was done through an incredibly motivational cinematic trailer that showcases all of humanity's greatest achievements, and a hilarious attempt at censoring boobies that just results in drawing even more attention to them. Have a look, but not at the boobies, its not polite to stare after all:

Dwarf Fortress screenshot with the contrast set to high

[Update]: Dwarf Fortress' new and improved version has now landed onto Steam, and I'm happy to say that it has done so alongside overwhelmingly positive reviews!.

Dwarf Fortress is one of those games I always wanted to get into, but never could due to how obtuse and convoluted the menus/interface are,  especially when you consider the near-infinite complexity that it prides itself on.

Those of you with way more time and patience than I, however, will be happy to hear that Update 0.43.01 has now been released, and it brings with it numerous improvements to the work order system, a couple of important bugfixes, and best of all, news about the new compiler and 64 bit version. First of all, here are the brief patch notes:
