Screenshot of the Overwatch Hanamura map

While most Overwatch maps are well designed and enjoyable to play, no matter the skill level, there are some that are a bit... questionable in terms of balance. As you can guess from the title, these are the Assault (2 CP) maps: Hanamura, Volskaya Industries, and Temple of Anubis. The reason for this is the simple fact that Point A heavily favors the offense by staggering defenders for ~30 seconds after each death, while Point B favors the defenders by so much it practically makes them spawn on the point itself.

What this means in gameplay terms is that Point A is relatively easy to assault, while Point B is a prolonged stalemate that requires the offense to combo their ults in such a way that they kill the entire defense at the same time. And even then the defenders have plenty of time to pick D.Va, Mei, Tracer, Winston, or any other mobile heroes and just dance around the point until they either run down the clock by a full minute, or turn the fight in their favor - something that really shouldn't happen given how many advantages the defense has on Point B.

Planet Coaster's Winter Update screenshot showcasing a snow-covered village

Planet Coaster released a short while ago, and even though you would expect the devs to now take a bit of a break and celebrate their success, it appears they are doing anything but. They released a sizable patch back in November to address numerous performance and gameplay concerns, and a mere month later they're back with a free update entirely themed around the holiday season!

The rather boringly named Winter Update brings with it the Arctic as a new location alongside customized rides, a ridiculous amount of festive props to decorate your winter wonderland, a variety of new blueprints, as well as a rather lengthy list of balance and performance fixes. If you're interested in seeing what all of this looks like in-game, here's the recently posted preview trailer:

Subnautica Precursor screenshot showcasing an alien gateway portal

Subnautica is an open world exploration and adventure game that's all about trying to uncover the secrets locked away within the depths of an alien world. And if that isn't enough of a reason to throw caution to the wind and dive alongside space-sharks, you'll be glad to hear that the recent Precursor update has added ancient artifacts and strange alien gateways to further spice up the gameplay.

If you're interested in seeing what these things look like, here's the recently posted preview trailer. And don't worry, the spoilers are pretty minimal given that the developers were wise enough to not show what lies on the other side. Have a look:

Dawn of War 3's Ork from the trailer

If you don't know much about the Warhammer 40k world, it is best to imagine the Orks as a horde of idiots that only have one single goal in their rather short lives - constant fighting! Unfortunately for everyone else in the universe they are not only damn good at fighting, but they actually grow in both power and size while doing so, making them one of the most dangerous races humanity of the far-flung future has ever had to contend with.

As such, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that they are equally as stupid, and equally as aggressive in the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3. But if you're interested in all of the different units and their 'roles' in the Orkish army, here's the recently posted IGN First gameplay preview that showcases just that:

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide's Karak Azgaraz fortress screenshot

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide's Karak Azgaraz DLC, besides being something that's next to impossible to pronounce quickly, represents a whole bunch of new content for the premier co-op rat-slaying simulator set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Much like the previous DLCs, Karak Azgaraz brings with it three new maps to explore, each one with a variety of mission objectives and rat-bastards to slay, as well as a two new weapons you can use to poke holes in your enemy's faces: the Dwarf Ranger's Warpick, and the Witch Hunter's Falchion.

But rather than simply blabber on, allow me to instead show you the most recent trailer. It features pretty much all of the content present in the DLC, everything from the three new maps to the two new weapons, so you should get a good idea of what to expect from Karak Azgaraz. Have a look:

Dead by Daylight screenshot showing a survivor hiding from the monster

For those of you that might not know, Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer horror game where one player gets to don the mantle of the monstrous killer, while the four others have to do their very best to not become a colorful stain on the floor. It is a relatively simply concept, but if the Steam reviews are to be believed it is one that has been realized with a surprising degree of quality.

So if this sounds like something you might enjoy, you'll be glad to hear that Dead by Daylight is free-to-play on Steam for the next two days. All you need to do is head over to its Steam Store page and click that shiny "Play Game" button, after which you'll just need to wait for the download to finish before getting yourself sliced and diced.

Doom Bloodfall DLC screenshot showcasing Spectre Pinky demon

While I am by no means a fan of Doom's multiplayer mode, I have to commend Bethesda and id on their efforts. They've only recently launched a free update that has added bots and a new competitive mode, and already there is a brand new DLC to help further spice up the gameplay.

As with the previously released DLCs, Bloodfall brings with it three new maps (Empyrian, Boneyard, and Outbreak), Spectre Pinky as a playable demon, a new weapon (a big ol' grenade launcher) and an equipment item, as well as a whole host of other minor changes and additions. If you're interested in seeing all of this in action, here's the recently posted and action-packed trailer:

Battlerite official artwork showcasing numerous characters

Battlerite launched in Early Access a couple of months ago, but unlike most of the games that simply languish under the Early Access banner the developers have taken it upon themselves to release as many updates as humanly possible. There have already been numerous balance changes, new hero additions, new maps, and naturally, a bunch of cosmetics to collect.

The most recent update is no different in this regard given that it brings with it a brand new hero by the name of Pestilus (inspired by Bloodline Champion's Blood Priest), a greatly improved ranking system, a bunch of winter cosmetics, and naturally, some balance changes to round everything up. But first things first, here's the preview video showcasing Pestilus in all of his bulbous glory:

Assassin's Creed 3 official artwork

Ubisoft is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and in order to include everyone else in the festivities they've been giving away a free game each month for the past few months. And best of all, these aren't just any random games they had lying about, they are a rather solid bunch that includes games such as Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Assassin's Creed 3.

If you've managed to miss any of these giveaway, worry not as Ubisoft is currently giving all of them away in one massive bundle! By heading over to the Ubisoft website you can grab Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Splinter Cell, Rayman Origins, The Crew, Beyond Good and Evil, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, as well as Assassin's Creed 3. A rather nice bounty all things considered!

Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr screenshot showcasing the open world

Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr is an upcoming action RPG that aims to bring with it all of the features you've come to expect from the genre: randomized levels, tons of replayability, a constantly increasing difficulty curve, and naturally, a combat system that is satisfying enough to keep you coming back for more.

And while the most recent preview video doesn't showcase the combat, it does cover pretty much everything else in rather fine detail. So if you're interested in learning more about Inquisitor - Martyr's open world system and the way the missions are created, you should probably lower your gaze to the video below. Have a look:
