World in Conflict official artwork without logo

World in Conflict and its expansion Soviet Assault are both real time strategy games set in alternate history where World War 3 erupted due to a Soviet invasion of the USA. The premise might be a bit cheesy at this point, but the gameplay was and still is extremely solid, with a special mention going out to the campaign that manages to remain consistently engaging.

If this sounds like the type of game you would want to try out, you're in luck as Ubisoft is currently giving away World in Conflict: Complete Edition for free! Simply head over to the Ubisoft website, create a Uplay account if you don't own one, and that's pretty much it as far as claiming your key is concerned. What you should keep in mind, however, is that this offer will only last until 11am UTC on December 11th!

Monster Hunter: World will be coming to consoles in the very near future, on January 26th to be exact, though the release date for the PC version has not yet been revealed. While the wait for us PC gamers is certainly going to be excruciating, the good news is that the developers have said they will take as long as they need to in order to ensure that Monster Hunter: World ends up being a quality PC game.

I'm afraid I don't have any more information to share about the PC version, but what I can offer is the recently posted and fairly lengthy gameplay preview. Only the Japanese version is currently available, but thankfully most of the gameplay is fairly self-explanatory so you should still be able to figure things without too much of a hassle. But enough babbling from me, here's the video:

Battlerite official artwork without logo

Battlerite is the spiritual successor to Bloodline Champions, and much like its predecessor its a highly skill-based and team-oriented PvP brawler. It went completely free-to-play a little while ago, and much to my delight it has managed to consistently remain in the top 20 most popular games on Steam ever since.

This is unlikely to change any time soon as the recently introduced Prehistoric Mania update has added a whole bunch of new cosmetics to collect, as well as some much needed balance changes. And speaking of cosmetics, you might be glad to hear that there is currently an ongoing quest that gives you access to two slightly different dinosaur mounts: the Peaceful Triceratops for 25 completed matches, and the Enraged Triceratops for 65 completed matches. It's important to mention that you don't have to actually win 65 matches in order to get both mounts, simply finishing them is enough.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm official artwork of Chloe

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to the original game set three years before Max returned to Arcadia Bay. However, due to the recently ended SAG-AFTRA strike the original voice actor for Chloe was unable to reprise her role. Rhianna DeVries did an admirable job of trying to emulate Chloe's voice, but for many fans it was just not the same.

With that in mind, I am very glad to say that the upcoming Before the Storm bonus episode "Farewell" will feature both of the original voice actors for Max and Chloe: Hannah Telle and Ashly Burch! If you're interested in seeing what they have to say about Life is Strange, as well as the bonus episode, you'll find the recently posted "behind the scenes" video right below. Have a look:

A highly atmospheric image of SOMA

[Update]: Amnesia: Rebirth's new Adventure Mode replaces otherworldly horror with puzzles.

While this might sound like an absolutely bizarre thing to do for a horror game, Frictional Games have now added a Safe Mode to SOMA. Instead of just making the enemies ignore you, however, the Safe Mode completely changes their behavior since the intent isn't to introduce a cheat, but rather a new way of experiencing the game.

That said, it is important to mention that the newly added Safe Mode will not be removing all of SOMA's horror aspects, only the danger that comes with them. This will greatly reduce the overall tension and give players the ability to explore the world more freely, but the oppressive atmosphere and storytelling will be exactly as they are in the original, so don't expect to see a leisurely walk through the park.

Dynasty Warriors 9 screenshot of a powerful sword attack shattering the ground

Even though we've known Dynasty Warriors 9 is coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in 2018 for quite a while now, the actual release date has been shrouded in mystery. With that in mind, I am very glad to say that this is not only no longer the case, but that the release date is a lot closer than most people expected! In other words, Dynasty Warriors 9 will be coming this February 13th for all platforms.

If you're interested in seeing what Dynasty Warriors 9 is all about, at least as far as combat is concerned, you'll find one of the most recent trailers down below. Have a look, its a fairly interesting video, even though it is a bit overly-edited for my tastes:

Attack on Titan 2 screenshot of a female Titan attacking our character

With the show's constantly growing popularity, and the fairly positive reviews for the original Attack on Titan game, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Koei Tecmo is now working on a direct sequel. It will focus on the show's second season, and will bring with it a variety of new characters to play (including a roster of Titans), better visuals, as well as numerous improvements to the gameplay and storytelling elements.

While the recently posted trailer barely has any story to speak of, it will give you a pretty damn good idea of what the combat in Attack on Titan 2 is all about. Have a look, its a fairly short video, but its definitely an interesting one:

After a somewhat rough start, The Elder Scrolls Online have now managed to reach a truly impressive milestone - 10 million players! And what better way to celebrate such an achievement than with a free trial designed to get even more people to adventure through the vast regions of Tamriel.

The free trial is currently available across all three platforms (PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac) and will run until December 6th. You can learn more about The Elder Scrolls Online, or just download the game itself, by heading over to the official website. If you're not sure what you're even getting yourself into, here's the recently posted gameplay trailer to help you out. Have a look:

Dawn of War 3 screenshot of Eldar vs Space Marines

The Humble Monthly Bundle is a $12 subscription service that instantly gives you access to one game (or in this case three), and then a whole bunch more once the next month rolls over. Last time around it featured the fairly mediocre H1Z1, while this month offers a rather interesting combination of Quantum Break, The Long Dark, and Dawn of War 3.

While Dawn of War 3 and Quantum Break are somewhat mediocre games you wouldn't really want to buy at full price, for $12 as a part of a bundle they are an absolute steal! Add to that the surprisingly good survival game The Long Dark, as well as all of the upcoming bonus games, and you've got yourself one hell of a Monthly Bundle. Needless to say, I fully recommend you grab this one if you're even remotely interested in any of the three games!

Overwatch screenshot of the Dragon Symmetra skin

If you've been paying attention to the Overwatch Forums, a mistake you're no doubt regretting at this point, you've probably noticed a large amount of complaints centered around Competitive Play. Some of those criticisms are meaningless whinging, while some represent genuine issues about how random Competitive Play can feel at times. The two opposing teams are almost always balanced in terms of average Skill Rating, but if the difference between the best and worst player on one team is too large, there are still going to be problems as Overwatch is primarily a team game that requires everyone to perform their role.

With that in mind, I am very glad to say that the Overwatch developers have now tightened the Skill Rating range between players on the same team, with the end goal being to create much more balanced matches. The exact numbers haven't been shared for obvious reasons, but from my experience so far my teammates were all within 300 SR of each other, which is fairly acceptable. Whether this holds true for the very top or the very bottom, I don't know, but its still a move in the right direction.
