No Man's Sky screenshot of the cross-platform multiplayer in action

[Update #2]: No Man's Sky's Origins update has made planets significantly more unique and interesting to explore!

[Update]: No Man's Sky's Desolation update has brought in a bit of a survival-horror atmosphere.

Two days ago EA announced that Need for Speed Heat is getting cross-platform multiplayer, and already I have more good news on that front. According to the latest developer blog, Hello Games will be introducing full cross-play for No Man's Sky!

Once the June 11th update arrives, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will all be able to explore the universe together without any sort of limitations. You can also expect Man's Sky to arrive for the Xbox Game Pass and Windows 10, meaning you'll have plenty of platforms to choose from as well.

[Update]: Remastered version of Persona 4 Golden has now suddenly been released onto PC!

In a bit of a surprising turn of events, the PlayStation Vita exclusive RPG Persona 4 Golden has now been all but officially confirmed for PC. It all started earlier today with a single, now deleted Tweet stating that it's long-requested PC port will be launching this June 13th. However, given that these types of 'leaks' happen every single day for pretty much every single game and platform combination imaginable, the initial Tweet was rightly met with a lot of skepticism.

However, what followed next was far more difficult to dismiss. First of all, it was discovered that Persona 4 Golden has its own Denuvo support page pointing towards a PC version. Then, to make things even more blindingly obvious, it was revealed that Persona 4 Golden not only has a Steam database listing, but that it was updated a mere seven days ago!

In an effort to prevent a single meta from dominating the entire game, Blizzard introduced Hero Pools into Overwatch. While the list of banned heroes was originally curated by Blizzard, eventually the system was automated and just randomly removed two popular DPS heroes, as well as one popular tank and support hero per week.

A good idea on paper, but unfortunately it had quite a few issues in practice. As you might imagine, the most picked heroes are the ones the community finds the most fun to play, rather than objectively the strongest. Because of this, the system kept banning all of the fun heroes week after week, while simultaneously leaving the annoying and actually overpowered ones entirely alone - not exactly ideal!

[Update]: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is being Remastered this November 6th for PC and consoles.

This is shaping up to be an amazing week for the Need for Speed series on PC. EA has only just brought over a couple of Need for Speed games to Steam, and now they have also announced that Need for Speed Heat will be getting cross-platform multiplayer!

"At Criterion, we've always believed that games are better with friends," reads the official update. "We don’t want your platform of choice to be a barrier for that experience. So we're thrilled to let you all know that on June 9, Need for Speed Heat will be the first EA title to offer cross-play, meaning that players – regardless of their platform – can jump into Palm City together as one, united community."

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands in-game screenshot of the Night Fae Covenant

[Update #2]: World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Beta is coming next week, while the full release is set to arrive in Fall

[Update]: Blizzard has announced a variety of major changes coming to the Shaman class with Shadowlands.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will be coming at some point later this year, bringing with it a variety of new zones to explore, four of which will be themed after their respective Covenants. One of these new zones will be the ethereal forest of Ardenweald, the home of the Night Fae Covenant and a sacred place where wild spirits return after their time on the mortal plane has come to an end.

The Winter Queen leads the Night Fae Covenant and personally oversees the great cycle of rebirth, and as the land before her flourishes, so does she. Unfortunately, the anima drought caused by Sylvanas' meddling has taken a heavy toll on her power and forced her to abandon many of the sacred groves, as well as the spirits that dwelled within them. As you might imagine, it'll be up to us as the players to restore the balance, figure out what in the world is happening, and potentially even join the Night Fae Covenant by the end of it.

[Update #2]: The Fallen God expansion has just arrived, and so far the user reviews are looking quite good.

[Update]: Fallen God is bringing in the Trolls on November 3rd, 2020!

If you're a fan of factions that love to roam around and smash everything in sight, you might want to keep an eye on SpellForce 3's standalone expansion Fallen God. It'll bring with it Moonkin Trolls as a brand new and highly nomadic race with a very simple and easy to achieve goal - staying alive for long enough to resurrect a fallen god!

According to the announcement, their campaign will be highly replayable thanks to a variety of long-term decisions you'll get to make throughout your journey. These will affect your companion's skills and abilities, drastically alter the storyline, and eventually culminate in one of multiple endings. There will also be a brand new continent to explore, Steam Workshop integration and mod support, numerous new multiplayer features, and a whole bunch of other improvements.

[Update #2]: Star Wars - The Old Republic MMORPG has now also landed onto Steam.

[Update]: More good news! Need for Speed Heat has not only made its way to Steam, but it's soon getting cross-platform multiplayer as well!

Ever since Origin launched, a good majority of EA published or developed games have ended up being exclusives for it on PC. This is now beginning to change, however, as EA is shifting its focus from the storefront to the EA Access subscription service.

As such, after quite a few years of exclusivity, a whole bunch of EA games like Dragon Age Inquisition and Mirror's Edge Catalyst have now finally made their way to Steam as well. Here's the full list of recently added games, taken straight from Steam:

[Update #2]: The base version of The Sims 4 is now entirely free-to-play on both PC and consoles.

[Update]: The Sims 4 is adding The Sims 3 inspired story progression for neighborhood Sims.

If you're looking for a way to shake up your Sims 4 experience, you might want to check out the newly added Eco Lifestyle expansion. It brings with it the ability to become completely self-sufficient by installing solar plans, putting up dew collectors, recycling useless items, creating your very own tools and materials, and even rummaging through trash in order to find usable bits and bobs.

Eco Lifestyle has also included a new neighborhood voting board that lets the inhabitants decide which major changes to implement, as well as a variety of new furniture and items to toy around with. Needless to say, quite a few of them are either second-hand or made out of repurposed materials, so expect the items to look rather unique.
