Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be Episodic | Uses Unreal Engine

[Update #2]: It took a while, but the enhanced version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake has now landed onto PC!
[Update]: Final Fantasy VII Remake's newest TGS trailer is looking downright gorgeous!
First of all, the Final Fantasy VII remake is so far only slated to arrive on the PS4 but given that every other Final Fantasy game seems to be transitioning to PC I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that FFVII will as well and that the PS4 exclusivity is most likely a temporary thing.
With that said, Final Fantasy VII was confirmed during the recent PSX to be using the Unreal Engine 4 (to great effect if the trailer is any judge) and in a subsequent interview stated that it will be released in an episodic format.
Fallout 4 - Update 1.2 Is Now Out | Mods Are Disabled On Game Launch
- By Ash
- in News
When I did my Fallout 4 review I mentioned how I didn't really have any performance issues, and that is still true, but since then I've got a fair few messages telling me how the game suffers from massive FPS drops and random crashes.
The good news is that Update 1.2 is bringing in a bunch of fixes for those problems, the bad news however is that it also breaks mod support - though there is a workaround I'll detail below. Here's what's being changed:
Hob - An Exploration Focused Adventure Game From The Makers Of Torchlight
- By Ash
- in News
This announcement comes from the recent PSX but despite all of the Playstation branding surrounding it, Hob will be launching simultaneously on the PC as well.
Hob is an exploration-adventure game described by the developers as a "Rubik's cube collapsed in on itself". You will need to solve puzzles and defeat monsters in order to open up more areas of the game but with every shift of the map even previous locations might change so you're encouraged to explore the world rather than beeline for the end.
Nexus Mods Website May Have Had A Security Breach - Change Your Password
- By Ash
- in News
Nexus Mods is one of the best, if not the best, places to grab mods for pretty much any game that supports them. Not to mention that their Mod Manager works far better than the one you get with Steam Workshop.
So its really sad news hearing that Nexus Mods may have had its user database breached. Nothing is certain as of right now but just in case it ends up being true I'd suggest you change both your Nexus Mods password as well as any account that might share the same one.
Ubisoft Reveals VR Exclusive Game - Eagle Flight
- By Ash
- in News
Just let that sink in for a moment. We live in a world where a AAA publisher is making a game exclusive for virtual reality headsets. It is amazing to see how far gaming, and technology itself, have gotten over the years.
Ubisoft's VR game Eagle Flight will have you flying across a rather hole-ridden Paris on the wings of an eagle. It seems like a fairly experimental game but as long as the price is right I would love to be able to fly around/crash headfirst in to buildings.
Full Throttle Remaster Announced - I Might Have Magical Powers
- By Ash
- in News
I've barely seen anyone speak about Day of the Tentacle or Full Throttle for years and now both are suddenly getting remasters. While the Day of the Tentacle announcement caught me by surprise I'm pretty sure I summoned Full Throttle by talking about how great a Full Throttle remaster would be. I mean that's the only obvious answer here, Occam's razor and all that.
While I think of ways to use my new-found powers for good it would be wise to show you the announcement message over at Double Fine's website.
Hitman PC Beta Starts February 19, Short Trailer Released

Hitman was initially supposed to release around this time but was delayed in order to give it an extra few months of polish so I'm quite interested to see how this beta test will fare.
The beta phase for the PS4 will begin on February 12th and a week later, on February 19th for the PC. Along with the announcement came a short trailer, embedded below.
