Rainbow 6 Siege is having a free weekend

Ubisoft's team orientated FPS Rainbow 6 Siege went through quite a few controversies after its launch, but is now mostly fixed up, and most importantly, actually fun to play.

If you would like to test that theory for yourself, you now have the chance as Rainbow 6 Siege is going to be completely free all the way until 1 pm PT on April 17. You can grab it either on Uplay, or on Steam after which you will have to go through Uplay anyway, but at least you have the illusion of choice!

Frozenbyte's Stealth/Action Hybrid 'Shadwen' Is Launching In May

Shadwen is coming in May, here are the system requirements

Shadwen is an upcoming time-bending stealth game that promises a return to the glory days of old, with brutal enemies, tricky puzzles, and plenty of options when it comes to tackling each level. Most interestingly, you will be able to manipulate the environment itself in order to prepare traps for the unaware guards, create impromptu shelters, and all that good stuff.

It is being made by Frozenbyte, developers most famous for their work on the Trine series, and while Shadwen certainly continues on with the tradition of having visually pleasing levels, it is quite the departure from the cheerful and care-free atmosphere of the Trine games. Here's a brief trailer so you can see for yourself:

Doom's progression and customization systems have been detailed

With Doom's open beta nearly upon us (April 15), it is prime time to learn a bit more about the progression and customization options we'll be able to toy around with.

The most important thing to note here is that you will not be gaining power as you level up, but rather cosmetic features and consumable items with which you can add a bit of flavor to the constant bloodshed. Here's the brief trailer, and my short overview of what's to come:

A New Ghostbusters Game Is Coming In July, And Its Not Looking Good

A new Ghostbusters game is coming on July 12th

You know how most movie tie-in games tend to be a steaming pile of the nastiest, most vile garbage you can find? Well, you'll be delighted to hear that the new Ghostbusters game has the potential to be one such classic.

On the positive side, at least the developers have realized that the characters from the Ghostbusters remake movie are all completely unlikable, so they've invented their own ones who seem to be a lot more proficient at their jobs. Here's the trailer, and I hope I lowered your expectations enough for you to not get depressed over the fact that the last good Ghostbusters game came out eons ago:

Take A Trip Across The Old World In Total War: Warhammer's Latest Showcase

Total War: Warhammer's latest video gives us a tour of the Old World

I don't think I've ever seen Creative Assembly this excited about one of their projects. Its only been a couple of days since the last Total War: Warhammer video presented the forces of Chaos, and already we have another showcase to enjoy.

This video, however, is not focused around the furious combat between mortal enemies, but rather on the reason behind all of that bloodshed, the Old World itself. Have a look as its quite the sight to behold, but just don't ask who exactly goes around mountains ranges and sculpts lifelike skulls in to them:

Final Fantasy IX PC Port Is Now Available On Steam

Final Fantasy IX is now available on Steam

What is it with Square Enix and sneaky releases of their Final Fantasy ports? The Steam page for Final Fantasy IX has simply said "releases in early 2016" for a couple of months now, so imagine my surprise when I logged on to Steam today and saw that Final Fantasy IX has released in the dead of night with barely a peep from Square Enix.

You would think that the port is so bad they're ashamed of it, but no, according to the majority of Steam reviews the PC version of FFIX has managed to be not just a faithful recreation of the classic RPG, but also an upgrade in terms of gameplay features. Bizarre marketing strategies aside, here's the trailer and what bonus features the PC version of FFIX brings to the table:
