Escape from Tarkov is heading to alpha in August

Escape from Tarkov graphics

Escape from Tarkov is a seemingly STALKER inspired MMO that aims to combine FPS/TPS gameplay with RPG elements and a heavy focus on storytelling. The campaign will be set in large open-ended levels and will require you to deal with some realistic hazards such as dehydration, wounds, infections, and the worst of them all, death that will mark the end of your mission attempt.

While its still nowhere near ready for release the developers did recently post a rather long gameplay video showcasing their progress in the early alpha, and I have to say its looking pretty damn good. Here's the 28-minute long video, and don't worry, there's not a single bloody zombie in sight:

Fan remake of Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be available for free on Steam

Stormtroopers from Galaxy in Turmoil

Frontwire Studios announced a while back that they are working on a fan remake of the canceled Star Wars Battlefront 3. The project, Galaxy in Turmoil, is being made in Unreal Engine 4 and instead of reusing leaked assets from Star Wars Battlefront 3 the team has decided to create their own, all in the hopes of avoiding the wrath of Disney and their hordes of lawyers.

While I still have my doubts about the success of this project it does seem to have gained a bit of legitimacy as Frontwire recently announced that they have struck a deal with Valve in order to publish Galaxy in Turmoil on Steam. This still doesn't mean the project has received an "all clear" signal from Disney, but if Valve believes they can publish it for free without worrying about copyright issues there might just be a glimmer of hope there.

Here's what the developers themselves had to say about the deal with Valve, but also about the mouse-shaped 'threat' that still looms over them:

Titanfall 2 will arrive within three weeks from Battlefield 1

Titanfall 2 mech with sword

As reported by Dualshockers, EA's Chief Financial Officer stated at a recent technology conference that Titanfall 2 will launch within roughly three weeks from Battlefield 1. The exact release date is currently unknown, but its most likely going to be announced alongside other tidbits of information during the big "Titanfall 2 reveal" on June 12.

The interesting thing here is that the CFO didn't specify whether Titanfall 2 will release before or after Battlefield 1, which means we can expect to see Titanfall at some point point between September 30 and November 11. All of this is pure speculation at this point, but there was a leak earlier this year that alluded towards a winter release date for Titanfall 2, a launch window that seems to go well with this latest theory.

The Dwarves RPG, a screenshot from a cinematic

The Dwarves is an upcoming fantasy RPG inspired by Markus Heitz's novel of the same name, and it brings with it an extensive story campaign filled with "challenging real-time battles". There are 15 playable heroes, each with their own unique skills and abilities, so its going to be up to you to devise the optimal way of bashing in Orc skulls.

It was announced a while back, but as far as I know these are the first bits of gameplay footage that have been released in many months, so its quite interesting to see how much it has improved over time. Here's the trailer and a bit of a surprise as well, Dwarven ladies actually have beards!

[Update]: After a remarkably long wait, the Homeworld series is getting a brand new sequel in late 2022.

After being announced only two weeks ago it seems that the massive update for the Homeworld: Remastered Collection is set to arrive sooner than most expected, on June 7 to be exact.

Patch 2.0 brings with it numerous improvements to ship behavior, changes to how ships line-up in formations, and most interestingly, the way the ballistics move through the void of space. Along with that you can expect to see a whole bunch of general balancing and bug-fixing, as well as a greatly improved set of modding tools and features.

Just Cause 3 Mech Land War DLC

The Just Cause series has always been about one thing, and one thing only, pure explosion-fueled chaos. As it so happens, its exactly this that the recently released Mech Land Assault DLC offers, but instead of doing all of the exploding personally you will be able to hijack a giant, heavily-armed mech in order to expedite the process.

Mech Land Assault is already available for Season Pass holders, but if you are only looking for it specifically you will be able to buy it when it 'officially' releases on June 10, at a $12/€12 price tag. Here's the recently posted trailer to give you an idea of what all of this metal madness looks like in action:

Overwatch has already reached 7 million players

Overwatch Mei looking very surprised and confused alongside D.VA

Ever since the free Open Beta managed to gather 10 million players it was quite obvious that Blizzard has a massive hit on their hands, but I highly doubt anyone expected them to sell more than 7 million copies in a little over a week.

That is an astounding number, even for Blizzard standards, and it speaks volumes about the quality of Overwatch given how it managed to capture so many people during the Open Beta and never let them go, despite there being plenty of competition these days. Here's what Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard, had to say about the whole thing:
