[Update]: Dwarf Fortress' new and improved version has now landed onto Steam, and I'm happy to say that it has done so alongside overwhelmingly positive reviews!.
Dwarf Fortress is one of those games I always wanted to get into, but never could due to how obtuse and convoluted the menus/interface are, especially when you consider the near-infinite complexity that it prides itself on.
Those of you with way more time and patience than I, however, will be happy to hear that Update 0.43.01 has now been released, and it brings with it numerous improvements to the work order system, a couple of important bugfixes, and best of all, news about the new compiler and 64 bit version. First of all, here are the brief patch notes:
Disney is giving up on video game publishing, the struggling Disney Infinity has been canceled

- in News
According to a recent quarterly report Disney has officially given up on game publishing, and the struggling Disney Infinite franchise has been canceled. Worst of all, Avalanche Software (completely different from the Just Cause studio) is being closed down in its entirety, and it seems that all of the staff has been laid off.
While we can only speculate about their reasoning, its quite obvious from the report that the Disney Infinity series has not been performing as expected, though this shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone that went to the stores recently and saw how high the prices were for even a 'basic' set.

Its been known for a while now that The Witcher 3 would be the finale of Geralt's journey, but it seems that the end is going to come sooner than many have expected as the Blood and Wine expansion/DLC is set to be the last piece of content for The Witcher 3 before the team switches over to Cyberpunk.
This information comes from a recent interview Eurogamer had with The Witcher 3's Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz in which they discussed Blood and Wine, The Witcher 3 in general, and what CDPR is working on right now. If you're interested in learning more I fully recommend you give the short interview a read, but for now here's what Tomaszkiwicz had to say about The Witcher 3's finale:
Bioware Has Released An Update On Mass Effect: Andromeda - The Focus Is On Player Freedom

The last time we've gotten even a tiny glimpse at Mass Effect: Andromeda was during an early-alpha footage leak in April, so to see Bioware come out and officially state their goals for Andromeda is both a refreshing, and most welcome change.
Besides the 'standard' features such as deep character interactions, choice-driven storytelling, and fun third person combat, Mass Effect: Andromeda will also focus heavily on exploration and open-world design. Here's how Bioware explained it:
Scenes From Bloodborne And Silent Hill Have Been Recreated In Unreal Engine 4

If you ever needed a showcase of how impressive the things created in Unreal Engine 4 can really be, two examples have appeared recently, one for Bloodborne's Hunter's Dream, and one for Silent Hill's elementary school scene.
Let's begin with my personal favorite, the surprisingly accurate recreation of the Hunter's Dream from Bloodborne by EA DICE's Simon Barle. Feast your eyes on the video below:
Windows 10 UWP Now Supports Freesync and G-Sync, Framerate has been Unlocked

Windows 10 launched with lofty plans of conquering the PC ecosystem with its brand new and "immensely effective" UWP system that was supposed to make games and applications not just more convenient, but also safer.
Unfortunately, almost every Windows 10 game launched in a rather dismal state, and required at least two weeks of patching before things got in working order, but Microsoft is now taking steps towards remedying some of these constantly appearing issues. An update that should be arriving in a couple of hours will bring with it support for Freesync and G-Sync, but most importantly, unlocked framerate for UWP games and apps.
Edmund McMillen Is Looking For Community Suggestions Regarding Afterbirth+ Challenges
- By Ash
- in News
After already gathering a whole bunch of community ideas and concepts for new items, Edmund McMillen is back once more, this time around with challenges on the table.
As you might expect, he's looking for setups that are new, actually challenging, and most importantly, completely out of this world in terms of design. Afterbirth+ will most likely feature around 5 challenges, and if the community manages to pull through and come up with some unique concepts, there could be 1-3 of them present in the final release.
