Crypt of the NecroDancer: Amplified is a DLC prequel for the rhythm-based roguelike that brings with it a brand new zone full of dangerous enemies, pet-like familiars that fight by your side, as well as a whole bunch of new weapons, armor, and bosses to toy around with. The expansion also launched with a brand new character named Nocturna, and the promise that more characters are coming in the future.
As you can probably guess from the title, the first of these new characters called "Diamond" has now been added to Crypt of the NecroDancer: Amplified along with a modabble hard mode. If you're interested in all of the patch notes you can find what you seek on Steam, but if you're just interested in the short version here's everything concerning the new character and hard mode:
The closed beta for CliffyB's fast-paced arena shooter LawBreakers has now begun
- By Ash
- in News
LawBreakers is CliffyB's upcoming FPS with a rather casual relationship with physics and common sense. The end result is a fast-paced arena shooter that features some unique mobility options, seemingly overpowered weapons, and plenty of ways to humiliate and outplay your opponents.
If this sounds like something you might enjoy you'll be glad to hear that the closed beta has now begun. While I'm not sure if there are going to be any more invites sent out, you might as well sign up on the official website and see how your luck fares you. The closed beta event will last until March 19th, so you have plenty of chances to get in, provided the keys are indeed being sent out.
Prey's latest video showcases some of the bizarre aliens you'll be able to square off against

The enemies in Prey are not your usual bunch of sci-fi bad guys. Instead of mustache-twirling villains or faceless goons with laser rifles most of the things you'll be facing off against defy any sort of classification. They're either floating balls of darkness, humanoid shadows that are able to cross wast distances within a single blink, and apparently a whole bunch of shapeshifters as well.
If you're interested in learning what these Typhon aliens are really like you'll find the recently posted trailer down below. It doesn't feature much in terms of gameplay, but it does showcase some of the more intriguing parts of Prey's lore. Have a look:
Civilization VI now has a free demo on Steam showcasing the first 60 turns of a match
- By Ash
- in News
While it initially launched to some raving reviews the public opinion on Civilization VI took a bit of a downward turn these past few months. Most of this comes down to the ridiculous AI that is more than willing to chop its own arms off in order to spite you. Depending on your playstyle you might not care about such annoyances, but it is difficult to tell before you actually get to experience it.
As such, I am very glad to say that the developers have now added a free playable demo on Steam, so you can easily see for yourself whether this is a deal-breaker or not! The demo only allows you to play the first 60 turns as Qin Shi Huang on a fixed map with America, Egypt, and Sumeria, but this should be more than enough to give you a good impression of what Civilization 6 is all about. And naturally, you can replay the demo as many times as you want.

After the incredible success of the Turok Remaster Nightdive Studios has returned with yet another update for an oldschool classic. As you can probably guess from the title alone this time around they have improved Turok 2 by adding a brand new UI, cleaner visuals, full 64-bit compatibility, improved character speed and handling, and a whole bunch of other equally nifty features.
If you're wondering what all of this might look like in action, wonder no more as the devs have recently posted a brief gameplay trailer. It doesn't feature much actual gameplay footage, but it should be more than enough to showcase how much Turok 2 has improved. Have a look:
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has added a brand new map - Canals
- By Ash

[Update]: Without any prior warning, Valve has just unleashed Counter-Strike 2 as a free update!
In a bit of a surprise update Valve has released a brand new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive map. The rather aptly named Canals map is based on a "historic Italian city", though the "aesthetics are intentionally clean and uncluttered for good player visibility".
The CT side contains a large, wide open area while the T-controlled territory is full of smaller spaces that allow for multiple approaches to each bomb side. Given the previously mentioned wide open space Site A is going to mostly revolve around the proper use of smoke grenades and rifles, while the enclosed areas of Site B are going to be heaven for submachine guns and shotguns.
Quake Champions has a new video showcasing Scalebearer - a heavyweight champion
- By Ash
- in News
Quake Champions is an upcoming PC exclusive arena shooter designed to be as close to the FPS classics as possible. However, unlike the shooters of old Quake Champions will feature a variety of unique heroes, each with their own skills and abilities. But don't worry about any this messing up the balance because there will 'purist' games modes in both standard and ranked play, so if you don't like these RPG elements you can completely ignore them.
That said, if you're interested in seeing what these abilities might look like in action you'll find a preview video for the heavyweight champion Scalebearer down below. Apparently he has the ability to kill enemies by falling on their heads, kind of like a fatter and more angry version of Mario! With that image now stuck in your head, here's the video:
