[Update]: Unfortunately, Duelyst will be closing down its doors on February 27, 2020.

For those of you that might not be familiar with it, Duelyst is a hybrid between a card game and a turn-based strategy, though the focus is most definitely on the CCG aspects of gameplay. If you ever wanted to give it a try now would be the best time to do so as a new expansion has just arrived, bringing with it a whole bunch of new cards and most likely players as well.

To be more specific, Ancient Bonds carries within it 39 new cards to mess around with, a new keyword by the name of Bond, as well as a whole lot of synergies with previous cards. If you're interested in seeing what all of these new cards are like you'll find what you seek over at the official website, all neatly laid out for your viewing pleasure.

Space Hulk: Deathwing's Space Marines in action

Space Hulk: Deathwing is a Warhammer 40,000 themed shooter where four mighty Space Marines fight against hordes upon hordes of Genestealers and their mutated offspring. It released a little while back on Steam with quite a few issues to its name, and while the most recent update hasn't fixed all of the problems it is a step in the right direction.

The first and most exciting change is the addition of two new weapons: the Heavy Flamer, and the Hellfire Missile Launcher. Along with the new weapons all of the classes have received expanded loadouts in multiplayer, which should help to bring a bit of variety into Deathwing's class-based system. On the less exciting, but far more influential front we have all of the various technical improvements. If you're interested in all of the details, as well as the full patch notes, you should head over to Steam. On the other hand, if you're just looking for the short version, here it is:

Sonic Mania official artwork and logo

For those of you that might not be aware, Sonic Mania is a brand new 2D Sonic game heavily inspired by the original. There will be new zones and remixed classic levels, new gameplay mechanics to keep that "gotta go fast" attitude alive despite the various platforming challenges, and three playable characters to toy around with: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

If you're interested in how close Sonic Mania emulates the original, and what all of the new improvements look like, you'll find the recently posted gameplay video down below. If you find the developer commentary to be distracting you can find raw gameplay footage by heading over here instead. Anyway, here's the video:

Styx: Shards of Darkness official screenshot of a rather large level

Styx: Shards of Darkness, a stealth adventure inspired by the Thief series, has now made its way to PC and consoles. As you might expect given its inspiration Shards of Darkness features plenty of open-ended levels crawling with guards and traps, a variety of weapons and tools to either dispatch or bypass them, as well as stealth mechanics that reward patience over all-out aggression.

For those of you wishing to learn more, or just check out the visuals, you'll find the recently posted launch trailer down below. It doesn't feature much in terms of gameplay, but it should give you a brief glimpse at the story and Styx's personality. Have a look:

Nex Machina gameplay screenshot showing a giant laser

Nex Machina is a fast-paced twin-stick shooter that's entirely focused on over-the-top action and voxel-based destruction. It was originally announced as PlayStation 4 exclusive, but has now been confirmed for the PC as well. The PC version will naturally bring with it controller support, but if you don't own one there is no need to worry as the developers are working to ensure the mouse & keyboard configuration works just as well.

If you're wondering what Nex Machina looks like in action, wonder no more as the developers have posted a new trailer showcasing the PC version in all of its 4K glory. Before you dive in make sure to also turn up your volume as the soundtrack seems to be quite fitting for the carnage on display. Have a look:

A remastered version of the original Starcraft might be in development

Starcraft 1's Protoss Carrier artwork

Starcraft is one of the most influential games of all time, and to my knowledge the very first esport that gained any sort of wide-spread attention. Given its popularity it shouldn't come as surprise to hear that there were numerous rumors about it getting remastered over the years, though so far all of those rumors and speculation have ended up being exactly that.

Now that I've adequately lowered your expectations, allow me to share with you a potentially exciting bit of news. According to Sports Seoul, and translated over at Teamliquid.net by Waxangel, Starcraft: Remastered is going to make an appearance this May-June. The remake will feature high-resolution graphics, Battle.net integration, and most likely updated audio quality, but the gameplay itself will remain unchanged from Starcraft: Brood War.
