[Update #2]: The Witcher 3's big next-gen update has now arrived and, aside from a couple of technical issues, it's been a resounding success.

[Update]: CD Projekt Red has now detailed all of the major improvements coming with The Witcher 3's next-gen update.

If you're considering diving into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you might want to exercise a little bit of patience as CD Projekt Red has just announced that the next gen update will be launching this December 14th, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Most importantly, the next gen update will be entirely free for all owners of The Witcher 3!

The exact list of improvements has not been revealed just yet, but you can expect to see improved visuals, better performance, ray tracing support, as well as a variety of features from popular mods integrated into the base game. The good news doesn't end there, however, as CD Projekt Red is also planning to release a free piece of DLC based on Netflix's The Witcher series, though once again the specifics behind the new additions are still shrouded in mystery.

[Update #2]: MTG Arena's Phyrexia: All Will be One expansion has now arrived with plenty of poison and proliferation.

[Update]: Explorer Anthology 2 and Alchemy: The Brother's War expansions have now arrived with staples and jank galore.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Magic: The Gathering has now unleashed The Brothers' War expansion onto MTG Arena. This new Standard set brings with it a bunch of cards detailing the great war between Urza and Mishra, an absurd amount of fancy new artifacts to toy around with, as well as reprints of some of the most iconic artifacts from across all of Magic's history.

When it comes to the actual mechanics behind the cards, there are four major ones you'll need to keep an eye out for: Meld, Unearth, Prototype and Powerstones. Here's a brief rundown of what each of them does:

Among Us VR official key art for the social deduction game

If you're tired of the standard version of Among Us and you're looking for something to help reignite that spark, you might be interested to hear that Among Us VR has now been unleashed for Meta Quest, Rift/Rift S and Steam VR. As the name might suggest, Among Us VR is essentially the same social deduction game as the original, though this time around you're the one personally doing all of the sneaking, vent-crawling and backstabbing, as well as occasionally running away in terror!

Besides a couple of general improvements and extra minigames, the most exciting addition that arrived with Among Us VR is proximity-based voice chat. Only being able to talk with players close to you is a great way to amplify the tension, fan the flames of paranoia, and create all of that delicious chaos that makes a match of Among Us truly enjoyable. So even though it's a relatively simple feature in the grand scheme of things, proximity chat is a real game-changer!

[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's Season 2 has now arrived with a new tank hero, escort map, cosmetics, and a bunch of strange balance changes.

[Update]: Overwatch 2's first balance update has arrived with nerfs to Zarya, Genji, Sombra, as well as Junkrat for some reason.

While I'd love to tell you that Overwatch 2 has managed to overcome its initial problems and that it's going to be smooth sailing from here on out, I'm afraid I have some more bad news to deliver. The big balance update that was supposed to arrive this November 15th has now been suddenly delayed as the Overwatch 2 team has encountered a critical issue.

“This includes the upcoming balance changes, bug fixes, including those that affect Mei, and core content updates we have planned for this patch,” explains the brief announcement. “This delay also impacts the delivery of Overwatch League Viewership Incentives & Perks from the Postseason matches during the period between Oct 30 - Nov 4, along with the rotation of cosmetics in the Overwatch League shop.”

Remedy Entertainment is now officially working on Control 2 - an ambitious sequel to the paranormal action-adventure

Control 2 teaser artwork for the paranormal action-adventure

In an announcement that took a surprisingly long time to arrive given how much of a success the original game was, Remedy Entertainment has now revealed that they are officially working on Control 2. The project is currently still extremely early in development so there's basically no concrete information to share, but the good news is that both Remedy and 505 Games are aiming for it to be a massive and highly ambitious sequel.

What I can tell you for certain is that Control 2 will be developed on Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine and that it will be launching onto PC, PlayStation and Xbox. As for the release date, nothing has been announced just yet, but given how Control 2 is currently still in the concept stage it's most likely going to be a fair few years before the project sees the light of day.

Deep Rock Galactic: Season 3 - Plaguefall official artwork and logo for the update

[Update #2]: Deep Rock Galactic's Season 4: Critical Corruption is coming June 15th with jetpacks, new enemies and arcade games.

[Update]: Deep Rock Galactic devs have shared an infographic with some truly impressive stats for 2022.

If you ever wanted to give the co-op focused Deep Rock Galactic a try, this would be the perfect time to do so. Not only is it ~67% off on Steam until November 17th, but the freshly released Season 3 - Plaguefall has also brought with it a whole bunch of new toys and objectives to mess around with.

For example, each of the four classes has received a powerful and ridiculously over-the-top grenade, the funniest of which is the Gunner's Tactical Leadburster as it's essentially a small machine gun turret masquerading as a grenade! True to its name, the Plaguefall update has also added new events and mission objectives centered around purging the highly infectious Rockpox plague so you can get back to the all-important business of earning heaps of money for the company.

[Update #2]: Dead Cells' first 2023 expansion will be a rather ambitious crossover with Castlevania.

[Update]: As a small token of gratitude, Terraria will be adding Dead Cells crossover content at some point in 2023!

Continuing with the seemingly endless wave of new content, the Dead Cells team has now released the second and rather chunky indie crossover update. This one brings with it a variety of weapons, skills and cosmetic outfits themed after Terraria, Shovel Knight, Hotline Miami, Katana ZERO, Risk of Rain and Slay the Spire.

Out of the bunch, the Slay the Spire item is by far the most unique as it's essentially four skills in one. Each of the 'cards' comes with passive bonuses and a powerful active ability that will then switch you over to a new combination inspired by a different Slay the Spire class. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the idea of constantly switching your skillset around, but it's definitely a nice bit of fun and a solid new addition for Dead Cells!
