Control 2 teaser artwork for the paranormal action-adventure

In an announcement that took a surprisingly long time to arrive given how much of a success the original game was, Remedy Entertainment has now revealed that they are officially working on Control 2. The project is currently still extremely early in development so there's basically no concrete information to share, but the good news is that both Remedy and 505 Games are aiming for it to be a massive and highly ambitious sequel.

What I can tell you for certain is that Control 2 will be developed on Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine and that it will be launching onto PC, PlayStation and Xbox. As for the release date, nothing has been announced just yet, but given how Control 2 is currently still in the concept stage it's most likely going to be a fair few years before the project sees the light of day.

“With Control, we leaped into the unknown,” says Mikael Kasurinen, Game Director of the Control franchise. “We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.”

“With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”

Once more information becomes available, about either Control or its co-op focused spin-off, I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, I'd highly recommend picking up the original game during one of the upcoming holiday sales. While its moment-to-moment gameplay can get a bit repetitive at times, Control more than makes up for it with its world-building and atmosphere. Speaking of which, I'll leave you with one of the trailers highlighting just that. Enjoy!
