Vermintide 2 beta update is reducing the amount of Beastmen, as well as their overall power

[Update]: After a brief beta test, this update has now been released alongside a few more bug fixes.
Ever since the Winds of Magic expansion released, the difficulty level in Vermintide 2 has risen quite sharply. While this is partly due to the stagger changes that require more team-based tactics, the bigger reason are the newly introduced Beastmen. Not only do they seem to attack far more frequently than the other two factions, but their animations and behavior are significantly harder to figure out at a glance.
Fatshark has tried to fix them many times before, and while all of these patches have certainly helped, the Beastmen still remain Vermintide 2's most powerful faction. Things will hopefully be changing in the near future, however, as Fatshark has now unveiled a brand new beta update!
Othercide is an upcoming horror-themed turn-based strategy with a rather fetching art style

[Update]: Othercide and its rather striking visuals have now landed onto both PC and consoles.
These past few years have been pretty good for fans of turn-based strategy. The genre has not only managed to escape the slump it was stuck in for quite a while, but there are more and more turn-based strategies being announced each month, with all of them seemingly taking the formula in a bit of a different direction.
Needless to say, this applies to the newly announced Othercide as well. It is a turn-based strategy with horror elements, a fetching black-and-white art style, as well as a bit of a unique take on the usual turn-based combat. Instead of simply trading blows with your enemies, Othercide allows you to delay your attacks for maximum impact or to simply interrupt the enemy. If everything starts going south and you run out of options, there are also various reaction skills that give you the opportunity to try and avoid potentially fatal situations at a moment's notice.
World of Horror is a roguelite adventure game inspired by Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft

[Update #2]: I've now reviewed World of Horror's version 1.0 and I'm happy to say that, despite some issues, it's a highly enjoyable roguelike!
[Update]: After nearly three years in Early Access, the full version of World of Horror will be launching for PC, PlayStation and Switch in Summer 2023.
If you're in the mood for a horror game that's a little bit out of the ordinary, you might want to check out World of Horror that has just landed onto Steam Early Access. To put it simply, it's a roguelite horror-adventure heavily inspired by the works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft, all wrapped up in a rather lovely retro 1-bit art style.
As for the actual gameplay, it's mostly about trying to figure out just what in the world is happening throughout each of the randomized storylines, as well as doing whatever you can to prevent the old gods from returning once more. In order to succeed you'll need to solve puzzles, keep an eye out for suspicious allies and potential threats, carefully manage your resources, and if it comes to that, smack otherworldly horrors over the head with a baseball bat.
Apex Legends devs are bringing back the original Kings Canyon map as a limited event

[Update]: Apex Legends' next major update has now added even more cosmetics, as well as greatly reduced weapon muzzle flash!
While the World's Edge is quite fun after all of the changes that arrived alongside the Season 4 update, I must admit I still miss the Kings Canyon map. It felt a lot smaller and action-packed, so if you're like me and hate running aimlessly for long periods of time, the southern parts of Kings Canyon were perfect as they just about guaranteed a ton of action.
With that in mind, I'm quite pleased to say that Kings Canyon will soon be making a glorious return to Apex Legends, albeit not in the shape you might expect. Instead of the Season 2 variant with the leviathans stomping around, the upcoming Kings Canyon event will bring back the original Season 1 map with all of the locations still intact!

[Update]: The long wait is now finally over - Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has now arrived onto Steam Early Access!
After what feels like an actual eternity of waiting, the day has finally come! Developer TaleWorlds Entertainment has now officially confirmed that Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord will be coming to Steam Early Access on March 31st!
The initial version will be somewhat limited in scope, so expect to see reused maps for different towns, limited number of quests and voice-overs, as well as a lack of some supportive features. Thankfully, most of the core gameplay will be fully present from the start, so you should still be able to have a good bit of fun with Bannerlord.

If you're looking for something new to play, and you don't mind settling for something a little bit older, you might be interested to hear that both Assassin's Creed Syndicate and the card game Faeria are currently free to grab. All you have to do is head on over to the Epic Games Store, log into your account or create a new one, and then go through the 'purchasing' process for both games.
As is always the case with these types of giveaways, there is a bit of a time limit you'll need to work around. In other words, make sure to add both games to your account before February 27th rolls around, as that's when they'll be replaced by the next free game in line - InnerSpace.
Subnautica: Below Zero update has added a sunken ship to explore, as well as strange new lifeforms

[Update #2]: Subnautica: Below Zero will be leaving Early Access and launching in full on May 14, 2021.
[Update]: The Frostbite patch has now added the beginnings of a brand new storyline!
It has only been a few months since the last major Subnautica: Below Zero update, and already the developers have launched a new one. As the name would suggest, at the center of the Lost Ship update is a huge crashed ship. Exploring it will likely yield quite a few goodies, though do be warned, the local wildlife might not take kindly to you traipsing all over their territory.
Not everything in this update is trying to kill you, however, since Lost Ship has also added a friendly little Trivalve to play with, as well as the stunning Aurora Borealis to gawk at while on the surface. There's also new lilypad-looking flowers growing in the depths, strange and potentially dangerous ice formations, and naturally, a plethora of improvements and quality-of-life changes.
