In keeping with tradition, Guild Wars 2 has just launched its annual Wintersday festivities. So from now until January 3rd you can hop on over to Divinity’s Reach in order to participate in an assortment of events, to help some orphans, or to simply stuff yourself with absurd amounts of cake.
What this means in actual gameplay terms is that you can assault the Secret Lair of the Snowmen as a part of a Strike mission, fight against the crazed toymaker Tixx in The Wondrous Workshop mini-dungeon, or simply mess around with smaller events like races, musical games, snowball fights, and the deviously tricky jumping puzzle. Doing all of this will reward you with numerous items, copious amounts of Karma, as well as some nifty festive cosmetics.

[Update #2]: It took a while, but the newest gameplay preview has finally shown off the Grand Cathay campaign in action!
[Update]: Total War: Warhammer 3's new gameplay-focused preview shows off the Daemons of Slaanesh in battle.
As a culmination of a long-running and immensely popular series, Total War: Warhammer 3 has some massive shoes to fill. Nowhere is this more noticeable than on the campaign side of things as not only does it have to fix many of the shortcomings of its predecessors, but it has to do that while also delivering a new map that can surpass the rather high watermark set by Total War: Warhammer 2.
So if you're curious how the developers are planning to do that, as well as what the new world will even look like, allow me to share with you the freshly posted preview. Have a gander, it's a rather pretty one:

[Update #2]: Dota 2's Update 7.31 has added the Primal Beast hero, reworked Techies and rebalanced all jungle creeps.
[Update]: It's official, Patch 7.31 will be launching on February 23, 2022!
After an avalanche of requests from the community over the past few months, Valve has now finally unleashed the long-anticipated Winter 2021 Battle Pass. It brings with it an assortment of new cosmetics, including an Arcana for Drow Ranger and a Persona for Mirana, the return of the co-op focused Alchemist's Laboratory mode, as well as plenty of weekly quests and challenges to dive into.
While the accompanying free update has sadly not brought with it any balance changes, it did add one rather interesting and unexpected feature - experimental controller support! The way it works is that the left stick moves your hero around, while the right stick moves the camera. Then through a combination of face buttons and R1/L1 buttons as modifiers you can utilize all of your items and abilities. And yes, you can actually play Invoker like this!

[Update]: The Winter Wonderland event has now arrived, and while there is sadly no new content, at least the festive new skins are pretty good.
After going through a brief delay due to all of the madness happening at Blizzard, Overwatch's annual Winter Wonderland event has now been pinned for December 16th. Once it arrives it'll bring with it an assortment of new and old cosmetics, a couple of cool event exclusive game modes to participate in, as well as three weekly challenges that will award additional cosmetics like new skins, sprays and player icons.
Most of the new cosmetics have not been revealed just yet, but the one they've showcased so far does set a pretty high standard! If you're curious, you can check out the brief teaser for Sleighing D.Va over at Twitter.

[Update]: Total War: Pharaoh will be Creative Assembly's next mainline, historical grand strategy game.
Creative Assembly said they would keep supporting Total War: Troy well after its launch, and judging by how things panned out they certainly weren't joking about that. So even though the much-anticipated Total War: Warhammer 3 is currently the main focus, Total War: Troy is still getting a brand new faction DLC later today - Rhesus & Memnon!
As the name would imply, the DLC will bring with it the Thracian tribes led by Rhesus, as well as the kingdom of Aethiopia alongside its ruler Memnon. Each of the two factions will offer a large array of new units to play around with, unique campaign and battle mechanics, and naturally, new rituals and decrees to spice things up between battles.

[Update]: After 12 years of frantic battles, Heroes of Newerth has now shut down.
Before Dota 2 and League of Legends were even released, Heroes of Newerth enjoyed immense popularity among the MOBA crowd thanks to its highly polished gameplay and remarkably creative hero designs. Unfortunately due to a couple of major missteps, one of which was switching from free-to-play to a standard paid model, Heroes of Newerth rather quickly lost a good chunk of its playerbase and never really managed to recover.
As such, I'm saddened to announce that this decline has now met its inevitable end. According to the newest developer update, Heroes of Newerth will be closing down its doors on June 20, 2022, while new account creation will be halted on December 31, 2021.

So if you're in the mood for a Commandos inspired mixture of stealth and strategy, simply head on over to GOG to grab yourself a copy.
The giveaway will only last for another two days, however, so do make sure to add Shadow Tactics to your account before it's too late.
