L.A. Noire screenshot of a shadowy figure

Rockstar recently announced that a remastered version of L.A. Noire will be coming to modern consoles with a variety of audio and visual enhancements, including things such as 4K support for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. While the PC version was not mentioned in the original announcement, chances are these improvements will also be heading our way somewhere down the line.

As you'll see in the most recent trailer, the graphical improvements aren't exactly massive, so hopefully the remaster will bring with it better performance and loading times as well. But enough babbling from me. You'll find the video right below, just make sure to go full screen on a 4K enabled monitor to get the best viewing experience. Have a look:

Hollow Knight screenshot from the The Grimm Troupe trailer

If you've already completed everything Hollow Knight has to offer, you're in luck as the developers have just unleashed the second major free update. The Grimm Troupe brings with it a new lengthy quest and accompanying boss fights, 4 new charms that each come with unique abilities and skills, a bunch of new enemies to fight and strange creatures to befriend, and perhaps most importantly for long-term players, some much-needed quality-of-life changes.

The most recent trailer won't exactly give you a good look at the gameplay side of things, but it should help you get into the right mood. You'll find it right below, along with a brief list of features and changes. Have a look:

Guns of Icarus Online screenshot of a airship battle

Guns of Icarus Online is a steampunk airship combat game with a heavy focus on cooperation. In other words, you and your fellow teammates will each have to take on a certain role (Captain, Gunner, or Engineer), and then try to bring down enemy ships through a combination of teamwork, tactics, and trickery... or just fall out of the sky because your Engineer decided to take a coffee break.

If this sort of multiplayer madness sounds like something you would love to toy around with, you'll be glad to hear that Guns of Icarus Online is free to grab for the next two days. Simply head on over to the Humble Store, grab your Steam key, and you'll be playing in no time. If you need a bit more information, however, allow me to share with you the original launch trailer. Have a look:

GOG artwork for the Halloween Sale 2017

If you've somehow managed to avoid all of the various sales this month and you're looking to fill out your backlog, you're in luck as GOG's annual Halloween Sale has now begun. The special 'gimmick' this time around is that if you spend $15 or more you will get Tales from the Borderlands for free, which is actually a pretty damn amazing gift since Tales from the Borderlands is a remarkably charming adventure game.

For those of you that aren't exactly sure what to grab throughout the sale, allow me give you a brief list of games I would definitely buy again if I didn't already own them. That said, I'm primarily going to be focusing on the depth of the discount, so while there are some awesome high-priced games out there, I'll try and ignore them in favor of older, cheaper, and just as good ones. Anyway, here's the list:

Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot of a Carnosaur destroying Skaven forces

After many, many teasers Total War: Warhammer 2's Mortal Empires campaign has now finally arrived. It brings with it a combined campaign that features both of the maps from Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2, as well as all of the Legendary Lords and the factions they lead. The end result is an absolutely massive world full of unique factions to befriend, conquer, or some combination of both.

Besides the combined map, Creative Assembly has also added a whole bunch of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and balance adjustments. If you're interested in Total War: Warhammer 2 changes in specific you should head over to the official website. On the other hand, if you're wondering how all of the old races have been rebalanced in order to compete with the new and shiny ones, you'll find the second set of patch notes over at the Total War subreddit.

Ciri and Geralt playing some Gwent - artwork

If you're getting close to your season goal in Gwent, you might want to start pushing a little bit harder as the current Ranked Play season is set to end next week. To more specific, the season will be ending on Monday, October 30th at 12pm CET.

Outside of the top 1000 custom portraits and border, all of the rewards will be distributed according to your season high. So if you've just reached a new rank, feel free to continue playing as you risk to lose absolutely nothing. As for what exactly the rewards are, you can find out by going to the options tab in-game. Its not exactly the most elegant or obvious place to store such information, but at least the rewards are pretty damn good for the effort involved!

Full Throttle Remastered artwork for the main character

If you're looking for a blast from the past, you might want to give the most recent Humble "Day of the Devs" Bundle a look as it comes with some great oldschool adventure games. There's Grim Fandango Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Full Throttle Remastered, as well as a variety of other indie games.

You'll find the full list of games, as well as the pricing tier they appear in, down below. That said, it is worth mentioning that the Day of the Devs VIP Ticket is for an event in San Francisco this November 11th, so if you're not anywhere nearby you might as well ignore it. Anyway, here's the list:

Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot of High Elves fighting Dwarfs

Total War: Warhammer 2 will be getting an absolutely massive update later today: the Mortal Empires combined campaign. As you might deduce from the name alone, the new campaign will be a combination of the maps from Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2, as well as all of the factions and Legendary Lords that inhabit them.

Since every single faction is going to be able to fight against each other, having Total War: Warhammer 2 balanced is going to be of the utmost importance as even a slight power difference can drastically reshape how the entire campaign plays out due to the sheer volume of races. As such, I am very glad to say that Creative Assembly has announced that the Mortal Empires update will be followed by an equally massive patch.

Destiny 2 official artwork without logo

[Update]: Bungie has now released a brief follow-up statement: "As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game."

[Original Story]: If you've been paying attention to the official forums and the Destiny 2 Reddit you've most likely noticed a lot of complaints about people getting automatically banned for using software with an overlay (Mumble, Discord, etc). While the bans were definitely real, nobody really knew what exactly caused them, and if their copy of the game could be next... for seemingly no reason!

As such, I am very glad to say that Bungie has now finally released an official response. According to the message they have only banned 400 people so far, 4 of which were subsequently found to be innocent, and the usage of overlays or performance tools did not in any way cause these bans. Here's the full response:

Assassin’s Creed: Origins screenshot from the "From Sand" trailer

After a lengthy hiatus following the somewhat disappointing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, the series will be making its hopefully triumphant return with Assassin's Creed: Origins tomorrow. Besides the rather stunning depiction of Ancient Egypt, Origins will be bringing with it a variety of gameplay and quality of life improvements, the most important of which is a shift towards a more tactical combat system. Its no longer going to be a series of 1-on-1 duels, but rather a system that rewards stealth, positioning, and clever usage of gadgets above all else. In other words, getting caught is going to be more of a punishment now, at least if you're not prepared for it.

While the recently posted launch trailer won't offer you much of a look at the gameplay side of things, it will give you a good example of just how gorgeous Origins can be at times. Have a gander, its not a very long video, but it does have some rather interesting scenes:
