Total War: Warhammer 2 will be getting an absolutely massive update later today: the Mortal Empires combined campaign. As you might deduce from the name alone, the new campaign will be a combination of the maps from Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2, as well as all of the factions and Legendary Lords that inhabit them.

Since every single faction is going to be able to fight against each other, having Total War: Warhammer 2 balanced is going to be of the utmost importance as even a slight power difference can drastically reshape how the entire campaign plays out due to the sheer volume of races. As such, I am very glad to say that Creative Assembly has announced that the Mortal Empires update will be followed by an equally massive patch.

There are far, far too many changes for me to cover in brief, but from a quick look through the patch notes it does appear that Creative Assembly has fixed most of the known issues, rebalanced some of the most problematic units, and added some highly requested quality-of-life improvements (such as Black Arks not increasing your upkeep as if they were another army). If you're just interested in Total War: Warhammer 2 changes and additions you should head over to the official website. On the other hand, if you're interested in learning what the old races are getting in order to remain competitive, you'll find the second set of patch notes over at Reddit.

To learn more about Mortal Empires, or just Total War: Warhammer 2 in general, you should head over to Steam as the developers have done a rather good job of outlining what exactly its all about. And finally, allow me to leave you with a lengthy gameplay video showing off a battle between the Empire and Skaven from the new Mortal Empires campaign map. Enjoy!
