Scott Cawthon, the creator of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, seems to be an endless source of surprises. Back in July he abruptly announced that the long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy's 6 has been officially canceled because he just got tired of working on the series. A completely understandable reason given how many games he released in a relatively short period of time.
Usually that would be the end of the story, but Scott Cawthon is not your usual developer, so instead he has now suddenly released Five Nights at Freddy's 6 onto Steam... completely free of charge! And since this is Five Nights at Freddy's we're talking about, even the game's launch is shrouded in a veil of mystery. What I mean by this is that Scott didn't simply release Five Nights at Freddy's 6, he released Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator that contains the actual game within it!

Abandon ship is an upcoming naval strategy/adventure game that seems to embody the same ideas as FTL. You have to command a single ship and its crew in order to explore a massive and randomly generated world, solve a variety of quests while avoiding danger, fight off pirates and attempt to keep your crew alive throughout the whole ordeal, and naturally, try and avoid having your ship chomped on by gigantic monstrosities that inhabit the uncharted deeps.
Since words alone won't give you a 'proper' idea of what Abandon Ship is all about, I am very glad to say that the developers have now released an extremely lengthy gameplay preview. So if you have even a bit of interest in Abandon Ship, or games in this type of genre, I would highly recommend you give the video below a look. Have a gander:

As you might expect from the name alone, Attack on Titan 2 will be picking up directly after the original Attack on Titan game and will cover the show's second season. You can expect to see a variety of new characters (including a roster of playable Titans), better visuals, tweaked controls and dodging mechanics, as well as numerous other improvements to the gameplay and storytelling elements.
Speaking of which, you might be glad to hear that Koei Tecmo has now released an action-packed trailer showing off Attack on Titan 2's characters and story. Naturally, there are going to be spoilers throughout the whole video, so if you haven't watched the second season you might want to avert your eyes. For everyone else, here's the video:

While most developers tend to use the holiday season to spread a message of love and kindness among their playerbase, CDPR has decided to take a little bit of a different route with Gwent. From today until December 11th Skellige and Northern Realms players are going to have to compete with each other in order to secure a fancy (and fairly expensive) premium Gold card: Madman Lugos and Dijkstra respectively.
The rules are fairly simple. You have to pick a side and win as many matches as you can with that faction. Whether you're playing in Ranked or Casual mode doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is that you are securing victories as either Skellige or the Northern Realms. Once December 11th rolls around CDPR will count up all of the wins and grant the premium Gold card to those that have dedicated themselves to the winning faction, as well as a complementary 100 Meteorite Powder to those that have chosen... poorly.

Following the success of the Fall of the Dark Brotherhood story expansion, the developers behind The Elder Scrolls: Online have now unleashed another story-focused adventure. The Return to Clockwork City expansion brings with it more than 50 new cards to collect, 35 different missions spread across three chapters, two new mechanics and a new unit type, and naturally, a brand new storyline to explore.
As you might expect from the name alone, the campaign will allow you to face off against the steam-powered defenses of the long-abandoned Clockwork City, all in an effort to discover its secrets and plunder its riches. Along the way you'll be able to collect special cards that can be upgraded with variety of different powers, thus giving you the flexibility you need to complete all three story chapters. World in Conflict and its expansion Soviet Assault are both real time strategy games set in alternate history where World War 3 erupted due to a Soviet invasion of the USA. The premise might be a bit cheesy at this point, but the gameplay was and still is extremely solid, with a special mention going out to the campaign that manages to remain consistently engaging.
If this sounds like the type of game you would want to try out, you're in luck as Ubisoft is currently giving away World in Conflict: Complete Edition for free! Simply head over to the Ubisoft website, create a Uplay account if you don't own one, and that's pretty much it as far as claiming your key is concerned. What you should keep in mind, however, is that this offer will only last until 11am UTC on December 11th!

Monster Hunter: World will be coming to consoles in the very near future, on January 26th to be exact, though the release date for the PC version has not yet been revealed. While the wait for us PC gamers is certainly going to be excruciating, the good news is that the developers have said they will take as long as they need to in order to ensure that Monster Hunter: World ends up being a quality PC game.
I'm afraid I don't have any more information to share about the PC version, but what I can offer is the recently posted and fairly lengthy gameplay preview. Only the Japanese version is currently available, but thankfully most of the gameplay is fairly self-explanatory so you should still be able to figure things without too much of a hassle. But enough babbling from me, here's the video:

Battlerite is the spiritual successor to Bloodline Champions, and much like its predecessor its a highly skill-based and team-oriented PvP brawler. It went completely free-to-play a little while ago, and much to my delight it has managed to consistently remain in the top 20 most popular games on Steam ever since.
This is unlikely to change any time soon as the recently introduced Prehistoric Mania update has added a whole bunch of new cosmetics to collect, as well as some much needed balance changes. And speaking of cosmetics, you might be glad to hear that there is currently an ongoing quest that gives you access to two slightly different dinosaur mounts: the Peaceful Triceratops for 25 completed matches, and the Enraged Triceratops for 65 completed matches. It's important to mention that you don't have to actually win 65 matches in order to get both mounts, simply finishing them is enough.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a prequel to the original game set three years before Max returned to Arcadia Bay. However, due to the recently ended SAG-AFTRA strike the original voice actor for Chloe was unable to reprise her role. Rhianna DeVries did an admirable job of trying to emulate Chloe's voice, but for many fans it was just not the same.
With that in mind, I am very glad to say that the upcoming Before the Storm bonus episode "Farewell" will feature both of the original voice actors for Max and Chloe: Hannah Telle and Ashly Burch! If you're interested in seeing what they have to say about Life is Strange, as well as the bonus episode, you'll find the recently posted "behind the scenes" video right below. Have a look:

[Update]: Amnesia: Rebirth's new Adventure Mode replaces otherworldly horror with puzzles.
While this might sound like an absolutely bizarre thing to do for a horror game, Frictional Games have now added a Safe Mode to SOMA. Instead of just making the enemies ignore you, however, the Safe Mode completely changes their behavior since the intent isn't to introduce a cheat, but rather a new way of experiencing the game.
That said, it is important to mention that the newly added Safe Mode will not be removing all of SOMA's horror aspects, only the danger that comes with them. This will greatly reduce the overall tension and give players the ability to explore the world more freely, but the oppressive atmosphere and storytelling will be exactly as they are in the original, so don't expect to see a leisurely walk through the park.
