Hollow Knight screenshot from the Gods and Glory trailer

While it ended up being slightly overshadowed by Cuphead, Hollow Knight is without a single doubt one of the best games from 2017. The gameplay is solid, the artwork gorgeous, the music haunting, the world vast and interesting to explore, and perhaps most impressively, all of the updates have been both significant and free!

With that in mind, I am very glad to say the developers have decided to continue the tradition as they have just announced a massive free update - Gods and Glory. There will be a brand new game mode to mess around with, a new quest and NPC character to explore, a bunch of new boss fights that revolve around said quest, new charms to customize your playstyle with, and naturally, even more awesome music to repeatedly die to!

Overwatch screenshot of Mercy flying towards the camera

While the Mercy rework has made her a much more interesting and proactive character, it has also catapulted her power level straight into the stratosphere. The end result, as you would expect, was Mercy being pretty much mandatory in every single game, be it a standard competitive match or the professional Overwatch League. Not exactly ideal!

As such, I am very glad to say that the long-awaited Mercy nerfs have now finally arrived to the live servers along with a minor nerf to Junkrat. The patch notes are fairly small, so if you're interested in all of the details you'll find them right below:

Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot of Tretch Craventail against Lizardmen

Total War: Warhammer 2 has recently received its very first full DLC - Rise of the Tomb Kings. As you might expect, the DLC has brought with it a whole bunch of new units to play with around with, new Legendary Lords with vastly different starting positions, new campaign mechanics and research options, and the list goes on.

While the arrival of the Tomb Kings has definitely stolen the spotlight these past few days, it is worth mentioning that the accompanying free update has rebalanced Bretonnia from the ground up, as well as added a brand new Skaven Legendary Lord - Tretch Craveltail! So if you've managed to completely miss his arrival, something that fits his lore quite well, you'll find a brief overview of his abilities and campaign mechanics in the developer video right below. [Update]: Dragon Ball FighterZ's most likely final update will add the much-requested rollback netcode.

After many teasers and a couple of beta tests, Arc System Works' 2.5D fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ has now made its way to both PC and consoles. More importantly, it has done so alongside some highly positive reviews!

So if you're interested in seeing what Dragon Ball FighterZ is like, as well as how closely it emulates the show, allow me to share with you the recently posted launch trailer. It unfortunately doesn't feature much actual gameplay, but it should be enough to give you a decent idea of what to expect. Have a look:

The Witcher 3's Geralt and Ciri playing a bit of Gwent

Gwent's second Faction Challenge launched a couple of days ago, pitting Nilfgaard and Monsters players against each other in an effort to earn a fancy new character border. While the idea itself was solid, the overwhelming popularity of Nilfgaard and the fact that the loser gains basically nothing meant that the challenge was over before it even began.

Since the Faction Challenge was supposed to be about faction loyalty and friendly competition, I am very glad to say that CDPR has now issued a much-needed fix. Under the new rules, if the faction you supported wins the challenge you will receive its character border and 100 Meteorite Powder. On the other hand, if you dedicate yourself to the losing faction and contribute at least 30 wins, you will get the losing faction's character border but no Meteorite Powder!

Endless Space 2 official artwork of the Vaulters faction

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that it was announced during Amplitude's recent 7th anniversary celebration, but Endless Space 2 has now finally received the long-awaited Vaulters faction as a part of the very first paid DLC! You can also expect to see the Sisters of Mercy as a minor civilization, the ability to negotiate with pirates, a variety of new exotic combat modules toy around with, new quests, and the list goes on.

If you're not familiar with the Endless universe and you're wondering what exactly the Vaulters are all about, allow me to share with you two of the recent trailers. The first one is a cinematic intro that sets up their lore and storyline, while the second one shows off their in-game features. Have a look:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent screenshot of a shadow at the end of a hallway

If you're a fan of horror games, but you've somehow managed to avoid playing Amnesia, today is your lucky day! Simply head on over to Humble Bundle, go through the 'purchasing' process, and you'll get a free copy of both the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent and its less-than-stellar sequel Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

This giveaway will only last for another ~33 hours (as of time of writing), so make sure to grab it as soon as possible. You don't even need to install the two games in order to claim your copies, just add the CD keys to your Steam account and you'll be good to go.

Overwatch screenshot of Hanzo with his default skin

After the last developer update was disappointingly nothing more than "we're working on new stuff", I am very glad to say that Blizzard has taken the criticism to heart. As such, today's developer update is all about the various popular topics that have been appearing in the Overwatch community time and time again.

So if you're interested in Jeff Kaplan's thoughts on onetricks, as well as the balance of niche heroes such as Hanzo, Mei and Symmetra, you'll find the latest developer update right below. On the other hand, if you don't have enough time to watch the video, I'll also add my brief summary. Sea of Thieves screenshot of a character looking out across an island

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer focused pirate adventure and exploration game that's all about searching for hidden treasure, pillaging ships piloted by other players, and then hopefully making it back to port before someone else returns the favor. It's a fairly simple concept, but it's one that has a lot of potential if executed well.

If all of this sounds like something you would love to try out, you might be interested to hear that Sea of Thieves devs are running a Closed Beta test until 8am GMT on Monday, January 29th. The only catch is that you needed to join the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme before December 1st in order to get in, or just pre-order the game as that also guarantees beta access. Either way, there should be plenty of content to peruse on Youtube and Twitch, so even if you can't join the Closed Beta you'll still be able to get a closer look at what Sea of Thieves is really all about.

Stellaris screenshot from the Utopia expansion

If you've never tried any of the various Paradox grand strategy games, but you have at least some passing interest in them, you're in luck as the latest Humble Bundle is full of some great examples. It features strategy games such as Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 3 and Stellaris, as well as slightly different but still enjoyable games like Pillars of Eternity and Magicka 2.

You'll find the full list of games, as well as the tier they appear in, right below. Before you do so, it is worth mentioning that the bundle also includes a 10% off coupon for the Humble Monthly Bundle, something that might be of interest to you given that this month's featured game is Civilization 6. With that said, here's the list:
