Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot of High Elves fighting Dwarfs

Total War: Warhammer 2's Mortal Empires campaign is absolutely gigantic, and as expected, also filled with a whole bunch of annoying bugs and issues. Perhaps the most famous of these problems is the endless tide of Dwarfs that seems to come from the mountains in every single campaign, usually to the detriment of the Greenskins and Skaven that get completely crushed under a sea of beards.

As such, I am very glad to say that the free update accompanying the Tomb Kings DLC will bring with it some much needed nerfs to the Dwarfs AI, as well as a couple of major buffs to the Greenskins AI which should result in them venturing out of the Badlands more often. As for the Skaven, I am equally glad to say that their broken autoresolve will also be getting fixed, which means that the AI Skaven factions will not automatically lose the vast majority of their battles. All of this might sound simple, but these changes should have a drastic impact on the Mortal Empires campaign map and will hopefully result in a wider variety of opponents to fight against.

In addition to these changes, the Tomb Kings update will also add a brand new Skaven Legendary Lord to play around with - Tretch Craventail. He'll be setting up camp in Naggaroth, which should provide an interesting challenge since friends are few and far between in the frozen north. There will also be a whole bunch of changes aimed at making Bretonnia more competitive with the New World races, a variety of new unique buildings to construct, numerous balance changes and general tweaks, and the list goes on for a while. If you're interested in all of the details you'll find the full patch notes over at the official website.

As for the release date, the Tomb Kings and their accompanying update will be arriving next week, on January 23rd. To learn more about the Tomb Kings armies and their gigantic constructs I would recommend heading over to Steam as Creative Assembly has done a great job highlighting all of the important features and mechanics. And just for good measure, here's one of the recently posted gameplay videos showcasing the early campaign turns. Enjoy!
