Boss battle screenshot from the PC version of Chrono Trigger

Despite being positively ancient at this point, Chrono Trigger remains one of the most highly regarded RPGs around. As such, there was much rejoicing when Square Enix finally announced that an upgraded version of Chrono Trigger will be making its way to PC via Steam. Unfortunately, all that merriment quickly faded away when Chrono Trigger arrived on PC alongside a whole bunch of bugs, significantly altered visuals, and even some technical problems.

While these issues still remain, you might be glad to hear that Square Enix has now stated that they will be directly addressing community concerns and fixing some of the biggest problems. The first update will be coming in the first half of April and will bring with it the option to switch between the current high-resolution graphics and the original graphical style. Whether this means we're going to get the original visuals as they were or an uncompressed version, I'm afraid I don't know, but given the amount of complaints about the new graphics I feel it's going to be a welcome option regardless.

Path of Exile's Bestiary update arrived a little while ago with a whole assortment of new items and balance changes, yet despite all of the additions the very top of the ladder is still dominated by a rather familiar bunch of builds. In order to correct this little problem, as well as make the gameplay a lot more interesting, Grinding Gear Games have now announced that they are working on major changes and reworks for some of weakest and most boring skills.

"Normally we'd wait significantly longer before discussing what's coming up in the next large content update, but there's one specific area that we want to start discussing early: revamps of existing skills," reads the announcement over at the official forums. "Our plan is that each content update going forwards includes a batch of revamped skills, starting with June's 3.3.0 release."

The highly colorful and Mexican themed Metroidvania Guacamelee! 2 was announced for the PS4 during last year's Paris Games Week. Very little new information has arrived since then, but I am glad to say that the developers have now officially confirmed that a PC version is in the works as well!

This announcement came alongside a brief new trailer showing off the PC version in action, so if you're interested you'll find the video right below. Just don't get too excited about new gameplay footage as it appears to be pretty much the same scenes as the previous trailer. Anyway, have a look:

[Update #2]: The Retribution update has now been fully revealed. You can learn more about it over here.

[Update #1]: Blizzard has now released a very brief story teaser. You can check it out on the official website.

Blizzard has recently announced that the next major Overwatch update will be coming on April 10th. So far we only know for certain that the Uprising PvE event will be making a return alongside a new batch of hero cosmetics, but according to the recently released Developer Update there are going to be some much more interesting things in store as well.

First and foremost, there will be a major reveal this Wednesday. Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan didn't specify what the reveal is going to be about, but he did say that it will come in video form. As such, expect either a cinematic short similar to the most recent Reinhardt one, or a brief teaser trailer showcasing the new and currently announced PvE mode.

Dying Light screenshot of two players fighting an armored demolisher

It's been more than three years since Dying Light's original release, and much to my surprise the developer Techland is still releasing new content for it. Perhaps most interestingly, all of the recent content updates have not been added in the form of any sort of microtransactions, but rather entirely free!

So if you're up for giving Dying Light another try, you'll be glad to hear that there is now a brand new game mode to explore - Prison Heist. As you might imagine from the name alone, Prison Heist will have you break into Prison Island, the most isolated part of Harran, in order to pillage as much as you can from the armory before you get swarmed by hordes of enemies. It is essentially a time-attack mode designed for seasoned players, and according to the announcement it should be quite enjoyable in both solo and co-op.

[Update #2]: Team Fortress 2's June 2022 update seems to have solved the bot and cheater epidemic!

[Update]: Valve is working on fixing Team Fortress 2's overwhelming problem with bots and cheaters.

After dragging their feet for nearly a decade, Valve finally introduced a Competitive Mode into Team Fortress 2 back in July of 2016. While it was an excellent addition, the update was also highly flawed and riddled with problems, much to the chagrin of the playerbase that has been eagerly awaiting its release.

Thankfully, that chapter of Team Fortress 2's history has now come to an end as Valve has finally released a greatly improved Competitive Mode. The old 18 competitive ranks have been consolidated into 13 new ones, while the players themselves will now be ranked using a model based on the Glicko rating system from CS:GO. This massive change also means that your current competitive rank has been reset, and as such you'll need to secure 10 wins in order to 'unlock' your new competitive rank.

Jurassic World Evolution screenshot from a park from afar

Jurassic World Evolution is an upcoming building and management sim that draws inspiration from the fairly ancient yet still enjoyable Operation Genesis. What this means in gameplay terms is that you'll not only be able to create and maintain your very own Jurassic Park, but also bio-engineer entirely new dinosaur species! And since playing god is rarely a cheap endeavor, you'll also need to construct a variety of attractions and safety features in order to keep a steady flow of tourists coming to your park.

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the very first and very lengthy developer preview. It unfortunately doesn't go into too much detail as far as fancy dinosaurs are concerned, but you'll at least get a pretty good idea of what Jurassic Park Evolution is really all about. Have a look:

Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within official artwork showing Joker's duality

If you were waiting for Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within adventure game to fully finish before picking it up, now would be the time to do so as the final "Same Stitch" episode has just made its way to PC and consoles. There are very few details available, for obvious spoiler-related reasons, but what I can tell you is that the focus of the season finale will be on the Joker and the decisions you've made so far.

What would you choose: a friend whose unhinged approach to justice turns your allies against you, or a sworn enemy who will stop at nothing to see you suffer as your city burns," reads the fairly brief announcement. "Based on the relationship you’ve built with John Doe, you’ll see one of two very different stories play out. So what’ll it be, Bruce: friend…or foe?"

Path of Exile artwork of the Marauder Ascendancy classes

Given the popularity of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite, it was only a matter of time before the whole battle royale craze started spreading to other genres. What I didn't expect is that an ARPG like Path of Exile would be one of the first to take the leap as a part of its April Fools' joke, nor that it would be a genuinely enjoyable game mode!

As it turns out, low-level PvP is quite exciting as every single skill gem is suddenly viable, even the most abysmal of unique items are comparatively fantastic, and the matches are short and diverse enough that things never end up feeling stale. So while this is quite obviously an April Fools' joke, I sure wouldn't mind if Path of Exile kept the battle royale game mode around, even if only as a weekly event.

Mark of the Ninja official artwork showing the two main characters

While it might seem simple on first glance, Mark of the Ninja is one of the most impressive stealth games I've played in quite a few years, purely because of all the viable playstyles and routes each level offers. As such, I am very happy to say that the developer Klei has now announced that they are working on a remastered version!

The details are still cloaked in darkness, but you can expect Mark of the Ninja: Remastered to arrive with redone 4K Visuals for both gameplay and cutscenes, enhanced audio, a variety of new special effects, as well as all of the content from the Special Edition expansion. There is currently no release date available, but you can expect the remastered version to arrive on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch at some point later this year.
