Epic recently introduced weapon equip times into Fortnite in order to prevent players from launching an entire hailstorm of bullets at each other. While the change itself was a solid and much needed one, the actual implementation left a lot to be desired since many weapons started feeling incredibly clunky to use. As such, I am glad to say that the upcoming Fortnite update will be correcting at least a part of this issue.
"Snipers and Crossbows do not benefit as much from quick switching, so we’ll be reverting the equip time changes for those weapons. We will be keeping the delay for the remaining weapons with the new behavior - Shotguns, Revolver, Hand Cannon, and Rocket Launcher," reads the developer update. "Weapon equip animations will be improved in a future update. These are unfortunately somewhat misleading - it’s possible to fire sooner than the gun appears ready, so they feel more sluggish than they really are. You may notice this on a few weapons."

CDPR has recently announced the Homecoming update for Gwent, a massive project that aims to rework the game from the ground up and refocus it on what it was originally trying to be - a deeply strategic game with a variety of unique and interesting playstyles. While all of this is definitely good, it does come with one unfortunate drawback, and that is the simple fact that Gwent will not be getting any major updates for the next six or so months.
However, in order to keep everyone playing despite the lack of massive new features, CDPR will occasionally be releasing minor updates and balance tweaks to shake up the gameplay. Once such update has launched today, bringing with it a reverse Arena mode where you draft your opponent's deck, over thirty previously missing card animations, as well as faction-themed board designs.

While it's by no means perfect, Ubisoft has done a stellar job with Rainbow Six Siege over the years. They transformed it from a buggy and somewhat mediocre shooter to one of the most played games on Steam, all through power of constant updates and developers that actually listen to the community. As such, I am happy to announced that Rainbow Six Siege has now surpassed 30 million registered players across all platforms!
“On behalf of the entire team, we wanted to thank every member of our diverse, global community for their support of our game. Our players are the most valuable element to our game. Over the last three years we have endeavoured to create a solid community built on transparency as we grow and evolve the ever-expanding world of Rainbow Six Siege,” said Alexandre Remy, Brand Director for Rainbow Six Siege. “We are so tremendously honoured to achieve this milestone, and we will continue to do everything we can to earn each and every new person that decides to play.”

After 14 months in Early Access, Conan Exiles is now finally just about ready to step into the spotlight. According to the recently posted developer blog, you can expect to see it on both PC and consoles this May 8th alongside a bunch of new content.
“We wanted to make sure leaving Early Access is something more than just removing the Early Access label and saying we’re done,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “Besides being the first time it’s available on PlayStation 4, the launch of Conan Exiles brings with it a massive expansion of the game world, game-changing new features such as monster invasions known as the purge and an entirely new action-oriented combat system, as well as many other major additions that truly makes this the ultimate vision of Conan Exiles. If you were ever on the fence, or you are just discovering it for the first time, May 8th is the time to join the adventure.”

[Update #2]: Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has now landed onto PC and Switch, and I'm happy to say it has done so without any major technical issues!
[Update]: Years after launch, an update has now corrected the gamebreaking crashes that have constantly plagued Ys VIII!
After being delayed time and time again, the PC version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana has now finally arrived. Unfortunately, it would appear that the troubled development process has taken its toll on the port's quality as the current version has a rather depressing 27% community approval rating on Steam.
I haven't yet played it myself, so take the following with a few grains of salt, but there appear to be numerous issues with the mouse & keyboard controls and the visuals. There is also a surprisingly large amount of people complaining about constant crashes and similar problems, so even if you're a big fan of the Ys series I would highly recommend you hold off from purchasing Ys VIII just yet.

GOG has just now launched a brand new sale, and it's a little bit more interesting than the usual fare. Instead of simply choosing a list of seemingly random games, GOG has gone through everyone's wishlists and selected the 150 most popular games for the sale.
Unsurprisingly given the platform, the #1 spot on the list belongs to none other than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition. The second and third place 'winners' further reinforce the idea that GOG's costumers have quite the penchant for story-focused RPGs as the games in question are the legendary Planescape: Torment and the highly enjoyable Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition. As far as discounts are concerned, however, you can grab The Witcher 3 at 60% off, while Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate 2 are discounted by 67% and 75% respectively.

Without absolutely any fanfare or prior warning, Blizzard has now released a brand new Competitive 6v6 Elimination game mode onto the Arcade. Much like the Lucio Ball and Competitive CTF modes that came before it, Competitive 6v6 Elimination will only last for a couple of weeks, so make sure to jump in and see how you fare in a bit of a different and more action-focused environment.
Besides having a secondary ranking system to practice your favorite heroes in, the Competitive 6v6 Elimination mode will also grant you Competitive Points depending on your season high. In terms of numbers, this means that Bronze players will get 40 points, Silver 75, Gold 150, Platinum 300, Diamond 450, Master 750 and Grandmaster 1000. If you manage to reach and stay in Top 500 when the Competitive 6v6 Elimination mode comes to an end, you will also be granted a fancy new icon and animated spray.

For those of you that might be out of the loop, the upcoming Underworld Ascendant is an Ultima Underworld inspired dungeon-crawling RPG. What this means in gameplay terms is that you can expect to see an extremely large and complex world to explore, a diverse set of abilities and spells to decimate your foes (or yourself) with, as well as a whole host of enemies to constantly wage battle against. A fairly simple concept, but it's one that has unfortunately become quite underrepresented these days.
Since trying to explain all of this through words alone is not exactly the best idea, I am glad to say the developer OhterSide Entertainment has now posted a brief gameplay trailer. All of it still early footage so it's not exactly polished, but it'll at least give you a bit of an idea of what to expect from Underworld Ascendant. Have a gander:

[Update]: After two years of patches, development on Battlefront 2 is now coming to an end.
Star Wars Battlefront 2's upcoming Night on Endor update will be bringing with it a rather interesting new game mode - Ewok Hunt. In it a group of heavily armed stormtroopers will be faced off against a swarm of Ewoks equipped only with spears and other such primitive weaponry. Since a straight up firefight will always result in the Ewoks getting annihilated, the Ewok team will need to heavily rely on ambush tactics and teamwork in order to bring down even a single stormtrooper.
Killing a single player might not sound like much, but each stormtrooper the Ewoks take down will respawn as one of them, essentially giving the Ewok team more and more momentum as the match goes on. This will either continue until all Empire forces have been eliminated or until the stormtroopers finally reach their extraction team and make it off Endor. A simple little mode in the grand scheme of things, but one that I must admit sounds quite entertaining. After all, who doesn't want to stab stormtroopers in the shins with a bunch of Ewoks!
