Without absolutely any fanfare or prior warning, Blizzard has now released a brand new Competitive 6v6 Elimination game mode onto the Arcade. Much like the Lucio Ball and Competitive CTF modes that came before it, Competitive 6v6 Elimination will only last for a couple of weeks, so make sure to jump in and see how you fare in a bit of a different and more action-focused environment.

Besides having a secondary ranking system to practice your favorite heroes in, the Competitive 6v6 Elimination mode will also grant you Competitive Points depending on your season high. In terms of numbers, this means that Bronze players will get 40 points, Silver 75, Gold 150, Platinum 300, Diamond 450, Master 750 and Grandmaster 1000. If you manage to reach and stay in Top 500 when the Competitive 6v6 Elimination mode comes to an end, you will also be granted a fancy new icon and animated spray.

As far as maps are concerned, the battle will be waged across the usual Elimination ones: Ecopoint Antarctica, Ayutthaya, Black Forest, Castillo and Necropolis. Every single one of them is symmetrical and fairly well designed, so the matches should be pretty darn fun once the system puts everyone at their appropriate rank.

The final thing worth mentioning is that you will need to win three rounds in order to secure a match, and that every time you win a round your heroes will be locked away from future ones. In other words, you and your team will have to play the vast majority of heroes available in Overwatch, which means that onetricking is not only a bad idea in this mode, but also a completely impossible one.

Have fun, and good luck with your placements!
