Conan Exiles official artwork showing Conan fighting a beast

After 14 months in Early Access, Conan Exiles is now finally just about ready to step into the spotlight. According to the recently posted developer blog, you can expect to see it on both PC and consoles this May 8th alongside a bunch of new content.

“We wanted to make sure leaving Early Access is something more than just removing the Early Access label and saying we’re done,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais. “Besides being the first time it’s available on PlayStation 4, the launch of Conan Exiles brings with it a massive expansion of the game world, game-changing new features such as monster invasions known as the purge and an entirely new action-oriented combat system, as well as many other major additions that truly makes this the ultimate vision of Conan Exiles. If you were ever on the fence, or you are just discovering it for the first time, May 8th is the time to join the adventure.”

When I reviewed Conan Exiles during its initial Early Access launch I found it to be full of potential, albeit severely lacking in terms of content and polish. As such, I must admit I'm quite curious to see how all of the upcoming features will fit in as they, at least on 'paper', appear to be exactly what Conan Exiles needs. That, and I have a bit of soft spot for exploring inhospitable swamps in video games (yes, I'm aware I'm certifiably insane), which means that the addition of new Volcano and Swamp themed zones is certainly a tempting reason to give Conan Exiles another chance.

I can't tell you much more without playing the full version myself, so if you would like to learn more about the upcoming changes you should head on over to the official website. And finally, here's a decently lengthy trailer showing off most of it in action. Enjoy!
