Ys IX: Monstrum Nox official artwork without logo

[Update #2]: A year after launch, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has just unleashed a surprise PC performance patch.

[Update]: As a part of the January 2022 update, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has added a co-op mode on PC!

After spending a good chunk of time on the PlayStation 4, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has now finally made its way over to both PC and Switch. I'm also happy to say that, unlike Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana's nearly unplayable launch, this initial version of Ys IX is already looking remarkably well polished and optimized on PC!

And speaking of looking, you can get a pretty good idea of just what Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is trying to do through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander:

It's also worth mentioning that there is a free demo available on Steam. It's a rather chunky one that features two decently lengthy dungeons and plenty of combat to sink your teeth into, so if you're wondering whether Ys IX is your cup of tea or not, the demo should clue you in quite quickly. I personally found found it to be a pretty good time, so I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Have fun with the demo, and just for good measure I'll leave you with one of the earlier trailers that's all about the characters:
