The Culling screenshot of a crossbow

Before PUBG and Fortnite catapulted the battle royale genre into the stratosphere, there was a rather successful albeit somewhat niche battle royale game by the name of The Culling. Unfortunately, despite its impressive start The Culling ended up slowly losing its population due to various missteps, bugs and poorly thought out balance changes.

After trying something similar and once again failing with The Culling 2, Xaviant Games have now decided to return to the original in order to bring it back to its former glory. As such, the current version of The Culling features many of the design decisions and gameplay features that made the original so popular, though with a couple of new additions such as XP and leveling, new cosmetics and weapons, better matchmaking, and so forth.

Insurgency: Sandstorm official gameplay screenshot of a ruined village

Insurgency: Sandstorm, the sequel to the surprisingly popular tactical shooter Insurgency, was supposed to arrive on September 18th for PC. Unfortunately, according to a recent developer update, that will not be the case as Insurgency: Sandstorm has been delayed until December 12th.

"This was one of the hardest decisions our team has ever had to make and not one taken lightly. However, we feel it is in the best interest of the game and our community to spend more time working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience," reads the brief announcement. "By extending the beta and moving our launch date to December, the additional time will allow us to make significant improvements to the game with continued input from you."

[Update]: The Fall of Winterhome has now arrived!

Frostpunk, the city-management and survival game set in an alternate Earth that's almost completely covered with snow and ice, will soon be getting a whole bunch of new content to play around with. To be more specific, The Fall of Winterhome expansion will arrive this September 19th as an entirely free update!

You can expect to see a new map with its own visuals and lore, as well as more story details and secrets from the past to help further flesh out the world Frostpunk inhabits. There will also be hours of brand-new content to explore, a fresh take on the various morally ambiguous mechanics and decisions, and naturally, a brand new campaign set in the fallen town of Winterhome.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider screenshot of Lara near the cliffside

After a plethora of well-edited trailers, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has now finally made its way to both PC and consoles. Perhaps most importantly, it has done so alongside some highly favorable reviews, so much so that it currently holds a 95% approval rating on Steam. Chances are this will go down once the post-launch hype settles in, but it is still a momentous achievement, and one that's worthy of praise.

If you're curious about what exactly Shadow of the Tomb Raider brings to the table, as well as what the various Mayan ruins look like in-game, you'll find the answers you seek in the launch trailer down below. Have a gander:

Soulcalibur VI official battle screenshot

After a rather lengthy hiatus since Soulcalibur V's 2012 release, the classic fighting game series will hopefully be making a triumphant return this October 19th on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can expect to see a variety of new characters including The Witcher 3's Geralt, improved gameplay mechanics and additional moves such as counter-attacks, as well as numerous offline and online game modes.

If you're wondering what exactly those modes will be, and you don't mind the fact that most of the video is in Japanese, you'll find the answers you seek in the recently posted trailer down below. Have a look, you should be able to figure things out quite quickly despite of the language barrier:

A Hat in Time: Seal the Deal screenshot of a smoking walrus

If you've managed to complete pretty much everything A Hat in Time has to offer and you're itching for more, you'll be glad to hear that the Seal the Deal DLC has now arrived. It brings with it an all new chapter in the shape of The Arctic Cruise, a fairly brutal Death Wish difficulty setting, local split-screen co-op, as well as a ton of new outfits and dyes to collect.

Perhaps most importantly of all, the entire DLC is free to grab for a limited time, so whether you're planning to dive in now or save it for later, I would highly recommend you head on over to Steam and secure yourself a copy. I'm not exactly sure how long it'll remain free, so it's better to err on the side of caution and get it now.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition screenshot from one of the cinematics

If you're a fan of JRPGs and you're enjoying the fact that so many of them are now making their way to PC, I'm quite happy to continue that trend by announcing that Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition will be making its way to both PC and consoles this January 11th. You can expect to see fully updated HD graphics, brand new music tracks, new characters and storylines, bosses and mini-games, as well as a collection of previously unreleased cosmetic DLC.

While it won't show you everything, you can get a bit of a sneak peek at some of the new and updated content by checking out the trailers down below. Have a look, neither one is particularly long:

Life is Strange: Before the Storm official artwork and logo

After a rather hefty wait, Life is Strange: Before the Storm has now finally made its way to both macOS and Linux. It brings with it a story exploring the relationship between our unruly protagonist Chloe Price and the always-popular Rachel Amber, though there is also a small bonus episode covering Max's initial departure from Arcadia Bay.

As expected, the standard edition brings with it all of the three of the main episodes bundled together, while those interested in the above-mentioned bonus episode "Farewell" will need to grab the Deluxe Edition. A bit annoying as the Deluxe Edition doesn't really offer much else, but I'd still recommend getting it if you're a fan of the original game.

Assassin's Creed 3 official artwork without logo

I fully expected that Ubisoft would eventually start remastering the old Assassin's Creed games, most of them are still held in high regard after all, but what I never could've guessed is that they would start with Assassin's Creed 3! Yet that is exactly what's happening given that Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered will be available in both Odyssey's Season Pass and as a standalone purchase in March of 2019.

If you're up for even more surprises, you might be interested to hear that the PlayStation Vita game Assassin's Creed Liberation will also be getting remastered and bundled together with Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered. Oh, and it's also worth mentioning that all of Assassin's Creed 3 DLCs will be included as a part of the core game. A pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

Screenshot of Overwatch's Roadhog blasting away Torbjorn

Even though Roadhog is currently in a bit of a bad spot, the latest Overwatch update brought with it a fairly significant nerf to his secondary fire. Instead of it being able to do its full damage to shields regardless of distance, the new change made it so the secondary fire suffered from damage drop-off, similar to Soldier or McCree. Unfortunately, this rather small change resulted in Roadhog's shield-breaking capability going down significantly as unless you were dangerously close to the enemy, your damage would end up being reduced quite considerably.

Thankfully, Blizzard has realized just how much harm this change has done, and so they have sneakily added some new tweaks in order to bring Roadhog's weapon back in line. The changes have now finally been announced as well, so if you're curious about what exactly has happened, you'll find the brief list of tweaks right below:
