[Update #2]: Back 4 Blood will not be getting any more content updates as Turtle Rock Studios are now working on a brand new game.

[Update]: Back 4 Blood's Children of the Worm expansion has now added a new story chapter, enemies and more.

If you're tired of playing through the same old maps and you're itching for something new and exciting to sink your teeth into, you'll be happy to hear that Back 4 Blood will soon be getting a big DLC - Children of the Worm. The star attraction is a brand new chapter of the story campaign which will bring with it new regions to explore, new threats to overcome, and most importantly, new toys to play around with!

The exact details are still few and far between, but so far it looks like the new enemies are going to be cultists that are capable of wielding weapons and probably using strategies more advanced than "charge at the players". In order to contend with these foes you'll have access to a bunch of new weapons, accessories and cards, including things like the makeshift Lockjaw rifle or the always-terrifying bear trap.

The classic horror game Alone in the Dark is a getting a modern reimagining

Alone in the Dark horror game modern reimagining artwork

After a lengthy hiatus, and some truly miserable games preceding it, the Alone in the Dark series is now finally coming back. So in order to set a new standard, as well as to ensure the new series stays true to its roots, the freshly announced Alone in the Dark will be a reimagining of the original horror classic.

While Alone in the Dark won't be retelling the same story, the premise should be instantly familiar to veterans of the series. You'll start off by exploring the supposedly haunted Derceto Manor, and from there things will slowly but surely spiral into madness as nightmarish creatures and terrible secrets start popping up. A fairly simple concept, but you really can't go wrong with a decrepit manor as far as horror game settings go.

Cult of the Lamb official key art for the cuddly yet horrific action roguelike

[Update]: Cult of the Lamb's first major update has added post-game progression with revamped bosses, new abilities and items.

If you're in the mood for something a little bit out of the ordinary, you might want to check out the recently released Cult of the Lamb. It's an action roguelike where you'll have to slowly grow your cult by venturing across the world in search of resources to collect and non-believers to smite, building new structures and welcoming new members into the fold, and naturally, conducting dark rituals in order to appease an eldritch god.

Since all of that sounds like complete and utter nonsense, allow me to share with you the gameplay overview trailer. It'll give you a pretty good idea of just what Cult of the Lamb is trying to do. Have a peek:

[Update #2]: Nearly three years after launch, Warcraft 3: Reforged's Patch 1.34 has finally added clans and separated AT/RT matchmaking.

[Update]: After a lengthy period of testing, Warcraft 3: Reforged has now unleashed Update 1.33 alongside player profiles, leaderboards and ranked play.

It took what feels like forever for us to get here, but Warcraft 3: Reforged is now finally adding features that were a staple of the original. As such, once Update 1.33 goes live on August 17th, Warcraft 3 Reforged will be getting player profiles, leaderboards, and most importantly, ranked play.

Similar to Blizzard's other games, the ranked ladder will have seven tiers for you to progress through (Combatant, Challenger, Rival, Duelist, Elite, Gladiator, Champion) in an effort to score a high place on the leaderboard, or purely to fight against better competition. Best of all, each of the five races (including random) will have its own matchmaking rating, so mixing things up and playing different strategies thankfully won't be punished.

THQ Nordic has revealed they're working on a brand new South Park game

THQ Nordic teaser image for the South Park Digital Studios

In a bit of an unexpected twist given that both South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole were well received, Ubisoft appears to have let go of the rights for the series. Instead, the next South Park game will be developed by THQ Nordic and their ever-expanding umbrella of studios.

This announcement comes to us from the very end of the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022 stream, with the entirety of the teaser being a single image showing the South Park Digital Studios logo along with Randy Marsh yelling "hot, hot, hot, hot!" Needless to say, it's not a lot to go on!

Open world Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy has been pushed back until February 10th, 2023

[Update #2]: Hogwarts Legacy has now arrived, and I'm happy to say that it's looking quite good so far!

[Update]: Hogwarts Legacy devs have now detailed the PC system requirements and their expected performance.

Given how little we've heard about Hogwarts Legacy recently, it might not come as too much of a surprise to hear that it will not be launching in late 2022 as previously announced. Instead, the new release date has now been pinned for February 10th, 2023 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, while the launch date for the Switch version will be revealed at some point 'soon'.

The brief developer update has not offered any sort of explanations, but given the relatively short delay I can't imagine it's anything too serious. The team probably just needs a bit more time to get everything polished up and ready to go, and if that's the case, then I'm more than happy to wait a little while longer to get a fully finished experience as the concept behind Hogwarts Legacy really is quite neat!
