CS:GO Operation WIldfire is now live along with de_Nuke

Its been a very long time since the last CS:GO operation and competitive map shake-up so this update, as far as I'm concerned, couldn't have come any sooner.

Operation Wildfire brings with it two new campaigns, timed missions, a bunch of bug fixes, map changes and most importantly the triumphant return of Nuke which has gone through quite the rework. Here's a bit more info and the patch notes:

Gurgamoth is a local co-op 2D fighting game

Have you ever wanted to engage in mortal combat with your friends in order to earn the favor of an uncaring and bloodthirsty elder god?

If the answer is yes you should probably seek out help, but before you go I would like to bring your attention to Gurgamoth - a local multiplayer brawler where the ultimate goal is to sacrifice your friends. Here's the trailer so you don't think I'm making all of this up:

Capcom Has Detailed Upcoming Fixes And Features Coming To Street Fighter V

Capcom has detailed upcoming bugfixes and changes coming to Street Fighter V

In my recent Street Fighter V for Linux article I expressed great hope for game's launch given how communicative and honest the developers were pre-release. Unfortunately, it seems that I was completely wrong.

What ended up happening is that Street Fighter V not only launched with a fraction of the content available, but that fraction was so buggy and unstable many players couldn't even play it due to lag and constant disconnects. Thankfully, it seems that Capcom is on the case as they've detailed their upcoming fixes and features a couple of hours ago:

Warren Spector has joined the System Shock 3 team

Back in December when System Shock 3 was officially announced the developers OtherSide Entertainment briefly name-dropped Warren Spector as one of their consultants and left it at that.

But it seems that the excitement for System Shock 3 is contagious because according to a Facebook post that went out today Warren Spector has left his academia job and is now joining up with OtherSide Entertainment to work on System Shock 3 & Underworld Ascendant. Here's what Spector had to say about his return to game development:

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 - Multiplayer Only Version Is Now Available

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 - Multiplayer Only is now live on Steam and rather cheap

Are you one of those people that just couldn't care less about the "story" in Call of Duty games and is just there to 360° no-scope fools in multiplayer matches?

If so I have some great news because Activision has released a Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Multiplayer Starter Pack which besides having a name so long it doesn't fit on the Steam store front is also a multiplayer-only version of Black Ops 3. There are some restrictions however, as you might imagine, but they aren't very severe so odds are you won't even feel them if you're just in it to shoot some dudes:

Pre-load for The Division open beta is now available

The Division beta was supposed to start yesterday but due to some unforeseen issues has been slightly delayed and will instead be arriving for the PC on February 19th, one day after the Xbox One version.

Given that the open beta client is rather large in size Ubisoft has opened up The Division to pre-loads today so if you plan to give it a shot during the weekend I'd recommend you download it now before the Uplay servers get absolutely slammed. And if you're interested here's the full list of changes and feature updates that happened between the closed and open beta:

The Hive - Early Access (Beta) Review, Impressions & Critique

My review & impressions of The Hive - an Early Access RTS/RPG hybrid game

The Hive is a narrative driven real time strategy game with some RPG elements mixed in that puts you in command of a young alien hive and tasks you with leading hordes of insectoid creatures towards their grand destiny in a ravaged world.

It is currently in Early Access and as such many features are unfinished, unpolished or simply missing so take everything I say with a grain of salt as it might change in the coming months. As of right now The Hive is both an interesting and unique blend between an RPG and an RTS that does many things right but still needs some work done when it comes to mission variety.
