Blood Bowl 2 is getting the Undead Team later this month, the open beta is next week

Blood Bowl 2, an insane combination of American football and Warhammer brutality, is getting a brand new DLC later this month. Since one of the biggest problems on the field is getting your star player's head caved in, why not instead recruit an entire team of skeletons, ghouls, zombies, mummies, and other such undying abominations. They even come pre-killed!

The Undead DLC will be given out for free to all owners of Blood Bowl 2 on the day of its release, while those that purchase the game afterwards will need to shell out €7/$7 for their chance at undeath. Besides the Undead, there are currently two more DLC teams planned for Blood Bowl 2: Necro and Nurgle. The same arrangement works for them as well, so if you own the game on the date of their release, you will get them for free.

Fallout 4's performance orientated Update 1.6 has been released on the Steam Beta client

Bethesda has recently unleashed the performance and bug-fixing Update 1.6 onto the Fallout 4 Steam Beta client. If you would like to give it a try and see if it helps with any of your performance woes, simply right click on Fallout 4 in your Library, go to the settings, select Betas, and then choose Update 1.6. Once you've done all of that your Fallout 4 should instead appear as Fallout 4 [Beta].

As for the actual update, it brings with it a bunch of bug fixes, support for future Add Ons, general performance improvements, and a rather interesting new addition - the Exit Save. What it does should be obvious, but just to clear any confusion, it essentially creates a new save file every time you quit to the main menu. In other words, you no longer need to cause yourself undue amounts of stress worrying whether you've saved the game before quitting for the night, or if you've just lost an hour of progress.

Here are the full patch notes, straight from Bethesda's announcement:

Here are my recommendations for Day 8 of the Steam Summer Sale

Gaben as the prophet of discounts

We are slowly marching towards the end of the Steam Summer Sale on July 4th, and much to my surprise, there is still a nearly impossible amount of awesome games (at even more awesome discounts) to showcase.

As before, here are my humble recommendations on what exactly to grab during Day 8 of the Summer Sale. I've chosen all of the following games based on two rather simple criteria, their quality and the depth of their discount, while the order in which they appear is still completely random:

Blizzard is aware of the issues with Overwatch's ranked Control maps, a fix is coming soon

[Update]: The issue has now been fixed. Control maps are no longer a 40 minute "waste of time" in ranked mode.

Overwatch's Competitive Mode has only come out a couple of days ago, and unfortunately it has not been smooth sailing since release. The big problem right now is that all ranked games played on Control maps only reward or deduct an absolutely minuscule amount of rating. What this means is that you can win 9 games in a row on Control maps, lose 1 on any other game mode, and then suddenly find yourself losing an entire rank despite your win percentage being absurdly high.

Given the dire nature of this problem, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Blizzard is already on the case. In a recently posted update, the Game Director Jeff Kaplan has confirmed that the team is well aware of the issue and that they are currently working on fixing it as fast as possible, or failing that, disabling Capture maps until they are able to correct the underlying problem. Doom's latest update has added the option for classic gun placement

Doom's classic weapon placement

While the modern Doom is by all accounts an excellent game and a faithful homage to the FPS classic, I always found it to be lacking a certain... something. I mean, how can you actually get immersed into an FPS game, especially one modeled after the old-school Doom, if you aren't playing an inhuman abomination whose gun hand somehow sprouts straight from their head!

Thankfully, Doom's latest update has now corrected this problem by adding an option for classic Doom weapon placement/view model, so if you ever wanted an authentic Doom experience, well now you have it! Along with this groundbreaking addition, the update has also brought with it a new Photo mode, as well as a whole slew of balance changes.

Hitman's fifth Elusive Target Contract arrives later today (July 1st)

Hitman's Elusive Target Contract - The Gunrunner

Hitman's fifth Elusive Contract is set to arrive today, July 1st at 14:00 CEST / 5:00 PDT, and will feature a target simply known as The Gunrunner. While there is very little actual information on the contract itself, I can at least confirm that The Gunrunner is true to his name given that he seems to be running about with an obscene amount of weaponry, as seen on the screenshot above.

For those of you that might not know anything about Elusive Contracts, its well worth mentioning that this is a special mission you can only attempt once, and whether you succeed or fail you are going to have to live with the consequences of your actions. To make things even more tense, you only have 72 hours to attempt these missions before they disappear forever, but if you do manage to persevere despite all odds you will be working towards unlocking a rather swanky cosmetic reward.
