Shen's Last Gift DLC brings with it a new robotic companion - Spark

Continuing the trend of DLC announcements that come straight out of nowhere, Firaxis has announced and then instantly unleashed a brand new DLC for XCOM 2. Shen's Last Gift will send you to a hidden ADVENT facility housing massive quantities of high-tech weaponry, and along with Chief Engineer Lily Shen you will need to uncover any technology that might aid the currently ongoing war effort.

As it so happens, the ultimate weapon the ADVENT were so keen on hiding away is a one-of-a-kind MEC created by the late Chief Engineer Shen, a lovely old gentleman whom you might remember from XCOM: Enemy Unknown. If you're wondering what your newfound robotic companion looks like, and more importantly, what it fights like, here's the recently posted trailer:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update and the Xbox Play Anywhere program are coming on August 2

Xbox One and Windows 10 as an unified platform

The long-awaited Windows 10 Anniversary Update is set to arrive on August 2. The majority of the update is, believe it or not, related to Windows 10 features and how exactly they are going to be improved in the future, but there is also a special and rather exciting section dedicated solely to gaming.

The Xbox Play Anywhere program will essentially remove all boundaries between the Xbox One and PC versions of a games, and while cross-platform play most likely won't be enabled, you will be able to share your games, save files, achievements, and overall progress between the two platforms. In other words, you will only need to buy one copy of the upcoming Gears of War 4, Scalebound, or other such games in order to play them on both systems, a pretty damn good deal!

Total War: Warhammer's Blood for the Blood God DLC brings buckets of blood to each battle

Creative Assembly came out yesterday to announce that the first big post-launch update for Total War: Warhammer is going to be available today. Besides a massive array of balance changes, this free update brings with a brand new end-game unit for the Vampire Counts, the aptly named Blood Knights, five new multiplayer maps to wage war upon, and most importantly, improvements to enemy AI during sieges.

The update has since arrived on Steam, and in yet another surprise announcement, it was quickly followed by the very first post-launch DLC as well. Blood for the Blood God, as you would expect, introduces blood spurts, dismemberment, the ability for zombies, skeletons and Grave Guard to continue fighting while dismembered, explosive gibs, and even a bunch of new global campaign events revolving around bloodshed. Here's the trailer:

Bioshock: The Collection's official artwork

After numerous leaks and rumors the Bioshock Collection has finally been announced, and it brings with it remastered versions of all three games and every single one of their DLCs. Its going to be available for both consoles and PCs, though the PC version will not come with a remastered version of Bioshock Infinite given that it already meets the current standards and runs smoothly on most machines.

The best part about this announcement, however, is that everyone who owns Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2, and Minerva's Den DLC on Steam will be able to upgrade to the remastered versions for free! Here's the recently posted trailer to give you a nostalgic look through Bioshock's history:

Valve's Gaben as the messiah of discounts

We're currently on Day 7 of the Steam Summer Sale, and much to my annoyance I'm already running out of funny quips to lead these articles with, so let's just get straight to business.

As before, here are my humble recommendations on which games to grab during today's Steam Sale. I've chosen the following batch of games based around two factors, their quality and the depth of their discounts, while the order in which they appear is completely and utterly random:

  • Steam

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Descent DLC brings with it mechanized zombies and fire-breathing dragons

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Descent DLC brings Dragons

The "Zombies" mode in Call of Duty has always been a ridiculous, B-movie type of affair, but the upcoming Descent DLC seems to taking the absurdity to a whole new level. Not only will you be fighting against mechanized hordes of the living dead, you will be doing so while apparently riding fire-breathing dragons, which might just be the most amazing sentence my inner teenager has ever heard of.

If you're wondering what all of this looks like, here's the recently posted trailer showcasing mecha-zombies, dragons, and a rather interesting rendition of a post-apocalyptic Stalingrad:

Total War: Warhammer's Vargulf unit

In a bit of a surprise announcement, Creative Assembly revealed a massive new patch heading towards Total War: Warhammer in the near future. The truly surprising part about all of this is that the "near future" is actually tomorrow, June 30th!

The first post-launch update will bring with it five new multiplayer maps, extensive balance changes across all factions, improvements to enemy AI in order to make sieges against it more difficult, and most excitingly, an entire new unit for the Vampire Counts - the Blood Knight. Here's what you can expect to see from this new end-game cavalry:
