Steam has revealed the best selling and most played PC games of 2019

The end of 2019 is nearly upon us, and much like the past few years, Valve has now released the list of the best selling and most played PC games across a variety of categories. You can find the full breakdown over at Steam, but for now I'd like to focus on the two main categories: the top sellers and the most popular games.
When it comes to the best sellers, things are pretty similar to last year with games like Dota 2, Warframe, PUBG, GTA V and Rainbow Six Siege occupying a prominent spot. However, the one trend I am somewhat surprised by is the continued success of highly challenging games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Monster Hunter: World.
Indie roguelike classic FTL: Faster Than Light is free to grab for the next four hours

[Update]: The free game of the day is now the rather atmospheric indie action-RPG Hyper Light Drifter.
The Epic Games Store is currently having a massive Winter Sale, and in order to attract as many eyeballs as possible, they've also been running a massive giveaway alongside it. Until January 1st every single day will bring with it a brand new free game, and as you might imagine, today's offering is the somewhat older indie classic FTL: Faster Than Light.
To claim your copy all you need to do is head over to FTL's store page, log into your account or create a new one, and you'll be ready to explode over and over again in no time! Speaking of which, you might want to hurry up as this offer will only be available for the next four or so hours, after which FTL will be replaced by a different game.
Amnesia and SOMA developers are looking to announce a brand new game soon

[Update]: The game in question has now been revealed as Amnesia: Rebirth, and it's supposed to be an "evolutionary leap" for the series!
Frictional Games, the studio behind the terrifying Amnesia: The Dark Descent and equally haunting SOMA, have now launched a small teaser for their brand new game. Right now the entire website is simply an image of what looks like a planet or a stream of light coming through a hole, so there's not much to speculate on just yet.
That said, Frictional has already given us a clue about what they're working on, and it's not just one game, but two! The first one will be a narrative-focused sci-fi game that will attempt to tackle interesting concepts like SOMA but without the horrifying monsters chasing you around, while the second one will be a classic Frictional horror game in the vein of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is entirely free to grab for a few more hours

[Update]: As expected, TABS has now been replaced by FTL as the freebie game of the day.
As you're probably well aware at this point, the Epic Games Store is currently running a rather large giveaway. Every single day until January 1st a brand new game will become entirely free, with today's offer being the excellent Early Access indie game Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
All you really need to do in order to grab TABS is to head on over to its store page, log into your account or create a new one, and you'll be good to go. The one thing you might want to watch out for is the timer given that TABS will only remain free for another three or so hours, after which it appears to be getting replaced by another indie classic - FTL. So make sure to grab TABS as soon as you can, or you might just miss your chance!
Noita's snowy update has added fifteen destructive new spells, nasty enemies and even more chaos
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
Noita is a procedurally generated roguelike where every single pixel is physically simulated. That might not sound like a big deal, but it basically means you can unleash absolute destruction upon both the world and your enemies. You can spawn hazards, create brand new pathways through the magical power of explosions, burn your enemies to a crisp, and other such lovely wizardly nonsense.
With that in mind, I'm happy to say that Noita has now added even more new toys to play around with! The snowy update has brought with it fifteen new spells to lob at your opponents (and accidentally at your own face), new magical items to help you contend with the hordes of monsters that lurk below, as well as new enemies to face off against.
To the Moon 3 has been announced, and it's already looking extremely strange

The original To the Moon is a highly emotional game with some genuinely wonderful characters. If you're even remotely into story-focused games, I would highly recommend grabbing it during the current Steam Winter Sale and playing it without reading even a single other thing about it. The experience really is worth it.
But if you've already played it, or if you find yourself loving the story for the very first time, then you might also be interested to hear that To the Moon 3 has now been announced. However, unlike the original which had a very simple but effective premise, I have no idea what to expect from To the Moon 3 even after watching the trailer! Have a gander, it's certainly a curious one:
American Truck Simulator's next DLC will have you roaming across the entirety of Idaho

If you've explored every nook and cranny American Truck Simulator has to offer and you're still itching for more, then you'll be glad to hear a brand new DLC is on the way. As the title would suggest, the new DLC will have you roam across Idaho, a state most famous for its mountainous landscapes and large stretches of both farmland and wilderness.
"The state covers two time zones, runs from Canada to Nevada, and encompasses the western side of the continental divide of the Rocky Mountains," continues the brief DLC announcement. "Rivers, mountains and farmland dominate the state’s landscape. The panhandle has emerald green hillsides, timbered mountains and pristine lakes. Central Idaho is covered with jagged peaks. The Snake River Plain, with its wide open vistas, irrigated farm lands and vibrant cities forms the character of Southern Idaho."
