[Update #2]: The next round of nerfs has hit Widowmaker, Brigitte and Wrecking Ball, while Symmetra recieved a small buff.
[Update]: Blizzard has now announced significantly faster balance changes and weekly hero bans in order to keep Overwatch fresh and interesting for years to come.
Blizzard recently promised that they would be releasing more frequent balance updates for Overwatch throughout 2020, and so far they have done an admirable job! Barely any time has past since the previous update, and already a new one has landed with yet another dose of nerfs.
As you might imagine given how omnipresent they are, Hanzo, Orisa, Sigma and Baptiste have received some much needed power reductions. Unfortunately, the 250HP McCree with a slower firing gun has remained on the PTR, but hopefully we'll get that in the near future as the poor cowboy really needs some help to stay alive in the current meta. That's a story for another time, however, so allow me to instead share with you all of the newly added balance tweaks:
Hanzo
• Storm Arrows
- Damage reduced from 70 to 60
McCree
• Deadeye
- Firing Deadeye no longer locks the player’s aim
Reaper
• The Reaping (Passive)
- Healing amount reduced from 40% to 30% of damage dealt
Orisa
• Fusion Driver (Primary Fire)
- Damage reduced from 11 to 10
• Fortify
- Cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds
• Halt!
- Snare duration reduced from 1 to 0.65 seconds
Sigma
• Gravitic Flux
- Can now be interrupted before targets begin falling
- Impact slow duration reduced from 0.9 to 0.6 seconds
• Accretion
- Explosion damage reduced from 60 to 40
Baptiste
• Biotic Launcher (Primary Fire)
- Recovery time increased from 0.35 to 0.45 seconds
• Biotic Launcher (Secondary Fire)
- Heal explosion reduced from 60 to 50
While potentially unrelated, it's also worth mentioning that Blizzard will be announcing a major new feature at some point this month. From what I can gather this new feature will help ensure the meta changes frequently and that the gameplay remains fresh for a long time to come, though what exactly it might be, nobody outside of Blizzard currently knows.
Once the full announcement goes live I'll make sure to let you know, but until then I fully recommend you give Competitive Play a try as the balance is in a pretty good place right now. Have fun!
