[Update]: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is now in the hands of the series' creators - Ubisoft Montreal.

The remake of the classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was originally supposed to arrive in January, but due to the pandemic throwing a wrench into things, Ubisoft chose to postpone it to March 18th. Unfortunately, it seems that even that was too optimistic as Ubisoft has now come out to announce yet another delay.

"Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise," reads the brief update. "It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible."

"With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original. We understand this update might come as a surprise and we will continue to keep you posted on the progress of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. In the meantime, we want to thank you for all your ongoing support."

As always, I'm more than happy to see developers delay their game over simply pushing it out of the door and hoping for the best. This goes doubly so for Prince of Persia as the original announcement trailer looked fairly rough. So hopefully Ubisoft will not only iron out all of the bugs, but also make it the modern remake that Prince of Persia truly deserves!

Once we get a concrete release date I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'll leave you with the original announcement trailer:
