Yooka-Laylee official artwork

Yooka-Laylee is an upcoming 3D platformer/collect-a-thon from the creative talent behind one of my favorite platformers - Banjo-Kazooie. Even though the name might give you an impression that the entire game is a practical joke, it has already managed to garner £2,000,000 from Kickstarter and the early gameplay videos seem to be incredibly promising.

It was originally slated to arrive by October 2016, but as you might imagine given the scope of the project there have been some delays, and the new release date is now scheduled for the first quarter of 2017. All of this was announced through the recently posted E3 2016 gameplay trailer, which you can find right below alongside a brief explanation from the Playtonic team:

Jay Wilson is a Blizzard employee

Jay Wilson, Diablo 3's former game director and decade-long veteran at Blizzard, has announced that he is officially leaving both the company, and the gaming industry in general next week.

As noted on Twitter, he's not leaving Blizzard due to any issues within the company, but rather because he wants to focus on his original passion, writing. Here's the full quote:

Skywind's Indoril Armor set in action

Skywind, as you might imagine from the name, is an unofficial community mod that aims to recreate the entirety of TES: Morrowind within the much superior (and prettier) Skyrim engine. While I would usually express some serious doubt about the mod ever coming to fruition, the team behind it has put in a colossal amount of effort and the results speak for themselves.

If you don't believe me, check out the recently posted "Prevelance" trailer that showcases the team's progress with Skywind so far. There's giant mushrooms, well designed pieces of armor, strange Elven architecture, and most impressively, entire cities built from scratch.

Clementine from The Walking Dead season 2

With E3 2016 just around the corner Telltale has decided to reveal a few tidbits of information in order to drum up excitement for their big presentation.

As noted by Job J Stauffer over at Twitter the new Batman adventure game series will arrive this summer, while the long awaited third season for The Walking Dead will premiere in fall.

"BATMAN - The Telltale Series' will premiere this summer @TheWalkingDead's 3rd season will premiere this fall #E32016 begins in 1 week ;)"

Wooden demon world from Allison Road

After Konami made the boneheaded decision to cancel PT, or rather an actually terrifying sequel to Silent Hill, it left many people with an incurable itch for all things horror. This is where Allison Road came into play, and by offering a deeply disturbing survival horror experience it had managed to garner a rather impressive following, especially considering how early in development it was.

Unfortunately, ever since the canceled Kickstarter and subsequent deal with Team17 the news about Allison Road slowed down to a trickle, and eventually faded out completely. While we don't know what exactly happened, the sad truth is that the lack of news is due to Allison Road being canceled, as noted by the official Twitter account:

How CS:GO's Santorini map was created

If you're an avid CS:GO player you've most likely heard of FMPONE, but for those of you that haven't - he's an extremely talented map maker that has managed to get quite a few of his creations to become an official part of CS:GO. Maps such as Cache (one of my favorites), Season, and as you might guess from the title, Santorini.

While playing these maps is certainly enjoyable, have you ever wondered what exactly it takes for a CS:GO map to transform from a featureless heap of rubble into a competitive battleground? If so, wonder no more as FMPONE has decided to detail his progress with a rather lovely timelapse video. Check it out:

Brutal Doom mod allows you to use the repeater rifle from Doom 2016

SGtMarkIV, Brutal Doom's creator and a modder with an immense amount of passion for his craft, is back yet again with a brand new mod for Brutal Doom. Things are a bit different this time around, however, as the mod takes heavy inspiration from Doom 2016, rather than the original FPS classic.

Naturally, when I said "inspiration" I meant that the mod takes all of the weapons from Doom 2016 and lovingly translates them to work within the confines of Brutal Doom's tech. It might not sound very impressive, but wait until you see them in action with the recently released "weapon test" video:

Escape from Tarkov graphics

Escape from Tarkov is a seemingly STALKER inspired MMO that aims to combine FPS/TPS gameplay with RPG elements and a heavy focus on storytelling. The campaign will be set in large open-ended levels and will require you to deal with some realistic hazards such as dehydration, wounds, infections, and the worst of them all, death that will mark the end of your mission attempt.

While its still nowhere near ready for release the developers did recently post a rather long gameplay video showcasing their progress in the early alpha, and I have to say its looking pretty damn good. Here's the 28-minute long video, and don't worry, there's not a single bloody zombie in sight:

Stormtroopers from Galaxy in Turmoil

Frontwire Studios announced a while back that they are working on a fan remake of the canceled Star Wars Battlefront 3. The project, Galaxy in Turmoil, is being made in Unreal Engine 4 and instead of reusing leaked assets from Star Wars Battlefront 3 the team has decided to create their own, all in the hopes of avoiding the wrath of Disney and their hordes of lawyers.

While I still have my doubts about the success of this project it does seem to have gained a bit of legitimacy as Frontwire recently announced that they have struck a deal with Valve in order to publish Galaxy in Turmoil on Steam. This still doesn't mean the project has received an "all clear" signal from Disney, but if Valve believes they can publish it for free without worrying about copyright issues there might just be a glimmer of hope there.

Here's what the developers themselves had to say about the deal with Valve, but also about the mouse-shaped 'threat' that still looms over them:

Titanfall 2 mech with sword

As reported by Dualshockers, EA's Chief Financial Officer stated at a recent technology conference that Titanfall 2 will launch within roughly three weeks from Battlefield 1. The exact release date is currently unknown, but its most likely going to be announced alongside other tidbits of information during the big "Titanfall 2 reveal" on June 12.

The interesting thing here is that the CFO didn't specify whether Titanfall 2 will release before or after Battlefield 1, which means we can expect to see Titanfall at some point point between September 30 and November 11. All of this is pure speculation at this point, but there was a leak earlier this year that alluded towards a winter release date for Titanfall 2, a launch window that seems to go well with this latest theory.
