Final Fantasy XIV concept artwork for Endwalker's Mare Lamentorum

[Update]: At long last, the Endwalker expansion has now been unleashed in full!

In a bit of a sudden announcement, Final Fantasy XIV developers have just revealed that the much anticipated Endwalker expansion has been delayed. Instead of launching on November 23rd as previously stated, Endwalker will now be arriving on December 7th, with the early access phase starting on December 3rd.

Similarly, the two previously scheduled patches have also been pushed back. As such, Patch 6.01 will be launching on December 21st alongside the Pandaemonium raid, while Patch 6.05 will release on January 4th and bring with it Savage difficulty for Pandaemonium, as well as new gear to collect.

[Update]: Total War: Warhammer 3's newest preview shows off the Ogre Kingdoms in-game and up close.

In an announcement that I'm sure won't come as much of a surprise to many of you, Total War: Warhammer 3 devs have now finally revealed what the early adopter faction will be - Ogre Kingdoms. So if you're in the mood for snacking, fighting and snacking on the people you fight, simply grab Total War: Warhammer 3 within a week of its release and you'll get the Ogre Kingdoms as a nice little bonus.

Speaking of which, Creative Assembly has also taken this opportunity to reveal that Total War: Warhammer 3 will be launching on February 17, 2022 via Steam, Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store. There will be no differences between the three versions, but since each one tracks DLC independently, it's in your best interest to just stick with whatever one you started with.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Venthyr artwork

[Update #2]: World of Warcraft will finally be adding cross-faction dungeons, raids and rated PvP in Update 8.2.5!

[Update]: Blizzard will be showing off the next big Shadowlands update on November 11th.

While it doesn't offer much in terms of new content, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands' freshly launched Update 9.1.5 does bring with it some much needed and often requested quality-of-life changes and tweaks. You can now freely swap between Covenants, explore new customization options for Allied Races, solo Island expeditions, level alts through Torghast, and the list goes on for a while.

Most importantly of all, this update has also reworked Legion's Mage Tower singleplayer challenges. So once Legion Timewalking rolls around in early December you'll be able to challenge all of the old bosses in order to collect an assortment of new class-based armors, a fel-colored version of Guardian Druid's 'werebear' form, as well as a new Spellbook mount if you manage to conquer all of the different encounters.

Total War: Warhammer 2 Lizardmen dinosaur charge

As a part of the July update, Total War: Warhammer 2 devs did a massive rebalance of how big monsters and cavalry interact with infantry. While the theory behind the changes was sound, the end result unfortunately ended up being a bit of a disaster with even high tier heavy cavalry units getting annihilated while charging any even remotely competent infantry unit.

In order to fix this glaring issue, as well as make cavalry better than they have ever been, Creative Assembly has now released Total War: Warhammer 2's final major update - Patch 1.12.1. To put it simply, cavalry should now have the upper hand when charging distracted or moving infantry, while infantry should have the edge while being braced and facing the enemy charge directly, just as it should be.

Diablo 4 concept art for a demonic army

[Update #2]: Diablo 4 will be launching on June 6th, 2023 with five classes: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue and Sorceress.

[Update]: Diablo 4's December preview offers a closer look at the itemization, progression and visual effects.

Given the recently announced World of Warcraft Community Council and its focus on getting player feedback directly to the developers, I figured this might just be a week where all Blizzard related news would be positive for once. Unfortunately, that didn't exactly last long as it's only Tuesday and already I have some bad news to deliver.

According to the Activision Blizzard Q3 2021 earnings call, both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 have been pushed back. No exact release date has been given, but the overall tone of the announcement seems to indicate that neither game will likely be launching in 2022.

Apex Legends artwork for Ash

[Update #2]: The Dark Depths update is bringing in a lush new Arena map and a bunch of free cosmetics on January 11, 2022.

[Update]: Apex Legends' newest animated short offers a closer look at Bangalore's bloody backstory.

After a whole bunch of teasers and previews, Apex Legends' Season 11 "Escape" has now finally arrived. Season 11 brings with it Titanfall 2's antagonist Ash as a brand new Legend, the highly versatile C.A.R. SMG that accepts both heavy and light ammo, a spider-infested tropical map by the name of Storm Point, as well as a whole bunch of cosmetics to collect.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through two of the recently posted trailers. The first one is all about Ash, while the second one offers a closer look at the Storm Point map. Have a peek:

World of Warcraft Community Council official logo

[Update #2]: It took a while, but the Community Council forums have now gone live.

[Update]: Shadowlands' quality-of-life focused Update 9.1.5 has now arrived onto the live servers.

Over the past two expansions World of Warcraft has had quite a few misses when it comes to its gameplay mechanics and endgame systems, and that's putting it gently. So in order to hopefully avoid these kinds of problems in the future, Blizzard is now setting up the World of Warcraft Community Council as a way of getting concrete feedback.

The WoW Community Council will essentially consist of a rotating roster of players that will be able to directly talk to the development team about every aspect of gameplay, from endgame raiding to something as casual as collecting transmog gear. Most importantly of all, these conversations will be entirely public and available for everyone to see, which should in theory give the WoW team an easy way to explain their decisions and the goal behind them.

MTG Arena's Innistrad: Crimson Vow artwork for Wedding Invitation

[Update #2]: The vampire-infested Innistrad: Crimson Vow has now been unleashed!

[Update]: All of MTG Arena's Innistrad: Crimson Vow expansion cards have now been revealed.

Only a short while has gone by since the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion, and already MTG Arena is getting ready for a brand new influx of cards. The vampire wedding themed Innistrad: Crimson Vow will be launching onto MTG Arena and MTGO on November 11th, bringing with it a whole assortment of vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other nightmarish horrors.

When it comes to the mechanics, it should come as little surprise to hear that they are once again themed around sacrifice, resurrection and transformation. There are six main ones that are worth keeping an eye out for, so allow me to share with you a brief description of what each of them is about:

Doom Eternal artwork for the new Horde mode

If you're looking for an excuse to dive back into Doom Eternal, you might want to check out the freshly launched Update 6.66 as it's quite the meaty one. Not only has it added a Horde Mode with a wide assortment of challenges to overcome, but it has also overhauled Battlemode, added two new Master levels, brought in new cosmetics, added a new multiplayer arena, and the list goes on for a while.

The way the Horde mode works is fairly simple. You'll start each run with all perks, runes and mods already upgraded, though you'll only have a Combat Shotgun at your disposal. As you slaughter your way through hordes of enemies you'll receive other weapons and acquire a whole bunch of points that can be used to either brag on the leaderboards or to unlock some fancy new cosmetics. And once you've proven your mastery over the demonic hordes, you can increase the difficulty and go for even greater conquests.

Resident Evil Village screenshot of witches

Originally Capcom had absolutely no intentions of releasing any sort of DLC for Resident Evil Village. However, due to the game's massive success, as well as repeated requests from its players, they finally announced a few months back that they are starting development on new content.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as the latest Capcom Integrated Report has revealed that at least some of these upcoming additions will be free. While no actual information has been released, the Resident Evil Village free DLC was mentioned in the same breath as Monster Hunter Rise, which given the series' history with updates means that there's a pretty good chance the free DLC will be more than simply cosmetic.
