[Update]: Creative Assembly has now corrected the recent bugs and made cavalry charges a lot more effective across the board.

After a myriad of awesome updates and a whole boatload of new content, Total War: Warhammer 2 has now reached the end of its journey. Don't be too sad, however, as Creative Assembly has decided to send it off with one of the biggest and most ambitious updates the game has ever seen!

On the paid side of things we have the new The Silence & The Fury DLC which brings with it Taurox and Oxyotl as new Legendary Lords for the Beastmen and Lizardmen respectively, a whole bunch of massive new units to fill out both rosters, and perhaps most importantly of all, unique campaign mechanics for both factions to really help spice things up. Here's a little sneak peek at what all of this looks like in action:

While The Silence & The Fury DLC is yet another solid addition to Total War: Warhammer 2's menagerie, the free update is by far the most exciting part of today's content drop. The Hammers & Herdstones not only brings with it a massive rework of both Beastmen and Dwarfs, but it also offers a variety of tweaks for pretty much every faction, with a special emphasis on long-forgotten lords like Volkmar, Throgg and Vlad.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as the update has also added three bits of free DLC: a Great Bray Shaman lord for the Beastmen, the incredibly grumbly Thorek Ironbrow as a Legendary Lord for Dwarfs, and most surprisingly of all, mighty Ogre Mercenaries that are available for all factions to recruit!

It really is a massive update, and from what little I've played of it so far, I'm happy to say that it does indeed live up to the hype. So if you were itching to dive back into Total War: Warhammer 2, this would be a pretty good time to do so - provided you can beat the horde of other players and actually claim the free DLC before the website crashes again!

Have fun, and you can learn more about The Hammers & Herdstones over at the Total War website.
