Killing Floor 2's Zed-Conomy Update Brings Microtransactions To An Early Access Game
- By Ash
- in News
Almost a year ago when Killing Floor 2 launched in Early Access I had an internal fight between my love for all things Killing Floor and my common sense telling me that Early Access games are rarely worth the trouble. Sadly, it would appear that this statement still holds true.
From the time of release till today there have been only two major patches, an unacceptably low amount for a game that is supposed to be in a beta testing phase. Despite all of the people I've chatted with telling me its a good game that is only getting better with time I still find it difficult to get excited about it when the development pace is this glacial.
And now, instead of furthering the game's progress towards release Killing Floor 2 has received an update that adds microtransactions, random skin drops and trading. At the very least they had enough common sense not to add stat boosts to the skins like Payday 2 did.
Hard West Review - Not Just A Western XCOM
- By Ash

A kickstarter from a small developer aiming to make something big and ambitious? These are words that usually spell doom. However in the case of CreativeForge Games and their Hard West kickstarter they need not apply.
I haven't backed the game but I did keep an eye on it during development and its impressive how much it improved over time. The first gameplay videos I've seen many months ago looked... uninspiring to say the least. But today, after a lot of patches and many changes it has become a whole new game, one that took the XCOM gameplay formula, melded it with a western influence and a dash of the supernatural, and created something unique out of it.
Its just unfortunate that more people don't know about it, so in an effort to combat that here's my review of Hard West:
Afro Samurai 2: The Revenge Of Kuma Pulled From Steam And Episodes 2 & 3 Canceled
- By Ash
- in News
Its a sad day if you're an Afro Samurai fan as the game's second installment has fallen on its sword before the fight even began.
Despite only just being released, and with two more episodes planned for later, Afro Samura: The Revenge of Kuma has been pulled from Steam.
The most likely reason? It turned out to be a failure.
Rumor - Gameplay Details For Mass Effect Andromeda Leaked

- in Previews
I tend not to discuss rumors because often times there is just no way to know if any of it is true or not. But this time around it would appear there is actual proof that the leak is coming from someone that did indeed have contact with the game.
Mass Effect's subreddit moderators received a message as well as proof from someone that (obviously) wanted to remain unknown. The message being a bunch of new information about Mass Effect Andromeda.
Before reading on keep one thing in mind, even if all of this is completely true (and there is a chance it isn't) its possible none of this may be present in the final game depending on how the development goes, what elements end up working out and so on. With that said, here's what was leaked:
Mayan Death Robots Is A New Take On The Classic Worms Series
- By Ash
- in News
The Worms series is one of those games that I never actually owned yet I ended up playing over a hundred hours of at my friends house. It was, and still is, a great blend of chaos and strategy that only got better as our skill in the game increased and we were able to pull of some really tricky shots.
And it is from Worms that Mayan Death Robots draws inspiration but it isn't just a copy of the Worms formula with Death Robots added, its a bit more interesting than that.
Dark Souls 3 Will Be The Last Game In The Dark Souls Series

Hidetaka Miyazaki, head of From Software and father of the whole Souls series, did a rather interesting interview for Gamespot.
Well, calling it an interview is a bit of a stretch, it seems to be more of a small friendly chat but Miyazaki did disclose one really big piece of information, Dark Souls 3 will be the finale of the whole Dark Souls series.
Overkill, Developers Of Payday 2, "Apologize" After Recent Community Outrage

Payday 2 has been the subject of a lot of criticism lately. Their introduction of random paid skins with a random chance for a random stat boost didn't go over well with the community or the media, to say the least.
But they've finally realized the error of their ways and have issued a public apology in order to reconcile with the community... except not really.
