Planetside 2 Has Received Base Building, Resource Gathering, And A Continent Rework
- By Ash
- in News
I've played Planetside 2 with a zealous fervor during its initial few months, constantly riding around in my Magrider, shooting all of the uncivilized mongrels trying to take over my continent, and having a whole bunch of fun in the process. Unfortunately, as the months rolled on the only updates Planetside 2 ever received were either terribly thought-out balance changes or cash shop items, and so it slowly bled population until it became a shell of its former self.
Thankfully, with massive changes to the internal structure of Daybreak Games and the layoff of some of its old 'big shots' Planetside 2 once again started receiving the attention it deserves. The prime example of this is the most recent update that added a new vehicle and resource gathering, a base-building system, a large rework of the Indar continent, and a whole bunch of balance changes.
Here's a brief overview of what to expect:
John Romero's Blackroom Kickstarter Has Been Put On Hold Until A Gameplay Demo Is Available
- By Ash
- in News
After spending over a decade in obscurity John Romero recently returned along with Adrian Carmack in order to attempt a Kickstarter for Blackroom, a brand new FPS modeled after the PC gaming shooters of old.
And much like how it suddenly appeared, the Kickstarter for Blackroom has been put on hold after gathering $131,052 in funding over the course of four days. The official reason behind this "out of nowhere" announcement is that the team wants to produce a gameplay demo capable of showcasing everything they stand for with Blackroom.
Here's what the brief announcement message had to say:
Total War: Warhammer's Chaos DLC Will Be Free For Anyone Who Purchases Within The First Week

After the unmitigated disaster that was Rome 2's launch I am delighted to see Creative Assembly turn over a new leaf, first by announcing Bretonia as an extra multiplayer faction, and now by backing down on Chaos as a pre-order piece only DLC.
According to the most recent Chaos vs Dwarves gameplay video the Chaos faction will be available to anyone who purchases Total War: Warhammer within the first week of release. This is amazing news not just because we get free DLC, but also because it means that Creative Assembly is so confident with Total War: Warhammer that they're willing to do this, and that fills me with a lot of hope!
With that said, here's a gameplay video showcasing a bunch of Dwarves getting punted.

After waiting for God-Emperor knows how many years for the AAA industry to realize that a Warhammer 40k shooter would be the greatest thing in the world, I am happy to say that salvation seems to be coming, and its in the shape of Eternal Crusade which is currently in early alpha, as well as Space Hulk Deathwing which is slowly inching towards release.
On today's menu, however, we only have Space Hulk Deathwing as its first gameplay trailer has just been revealed, and thankfully, it looks bloody great! Have a look:
Fallout 4's Survival Mode Update 1.5 Is Now Live On Steam, Next Week For Consoles

I initially feared that Fallout 4's survival mode would be nothing more than a gimmick, a cheap way to extend the game's longevity without actually creating a unique and exciting experience, but thankfully Bethesda has proven me wrong by not only releasing a bunch of interesting changes, but also spending well over a month in public beta to ensure that they work as expected.
After going through numerous revisions the survival mode is now finally, and officially available on Steam as a part of Update 1.5. The reworked survival mode aside, Update 1.5 also brings with it a couple of much-needed bug fixes and quality of life changes, all of which you can read right below:
Chivalry Developers Have Released A Gameplay Video For Their Mystical FPS - Mirage: Arcane Warfare
- By Ash
- in News
Chivalry, the first and currently only game Torn Banner Studios have ever released, is a rather interesting blend between an FPS and an action-orientated fighting game that ended up being surprisingly great, mostly because the combat is well paced, the weapons feel powerful, and most importantly, limbs are detached easily and spectacularly.
Unfortunately, while Mirage: Arcane Warfare aims to be a mystical upgrade to Chivalry it does seem to be lacking in a couple of areas when compared to its predecessor, as you'll no doubt notice in 8 minutes of gameplay footage released during this year's PAX East:
Darkest Dungeon Is Now Available On Linux, Town Events Are Coming In Mid-Late May

Darkest Dungeon is the best example of quickly one can turn from respecting those that serve him to simply throwing them unarmed, unequipped, and torch-less into the mouth of hell itself in order to scrounge a few extra gold coins before finally dismissing the entire crew, only to start again with another bunch of gullible fools.
In other words, its a rather awesome game, and after the most recent update Darkest Dungeon is now also available on Linux. Besides simply announcing the Linux port, Red Hook Studios also revealed a bit of information on the upcoming Town Events update, as well as the current progress on new modding tools. Here's a short summary:
