With Hearthstone swiftly becoming the most popular card game the world has ever known, digital or physical, its no wonder that other companies are trying their hand at creating a worthy competitor, someone to steal a bit of thunder away from Blizzard's giant.

It is with this sort of idea in mind that Bethesda has created The Elder Scrolls: Legends, a free-to-play digital card game that on first glance seems to be heavily inspired by Hearhstone, but in reality is an entirely different beast altogether. If you're wondering how exactly it differs from Hearthstone, and more importantly, what sort of strategies you can pull off, here's an hour-long developer video showcasing the arena game mode:

Since Overwatch already has numerous tournaments and pro leagues ongoing, Blizzard has decided to do things a little bit differently with the newly announced Overwatch World Cup 2016.

Instead of simply inviting the current top players, Blizzard will nominate a mix of representatives (pro gamers, streamers, high ranked competitive players, and apparently me) from each eligible country, after which the community will be able to vote on which nominees they would like to see represent their nation. What follows next is a series of exhibition matches where the teams will partake in best-of-three battles until only the sixteen best teams remain standing.

With QuakeCon 2016 now finally underway, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that one of Bethesda and id's front-liners is the upcoming skill-based arena shooter Quake Champions, designed from the ground up to be a return to the glory days of PC gaming.

Rather than simply talk about the return to Quake 3: Arena style of gameplay, Bethesda has also released a brief gameplay trailer showcasing rocket-jumps, bunny-hops, plenty of weapon pick ups, and naturally, a whole lot of weird aliens getting splattered across the floor. Have a look:

Big Robot, the UK studio behind Sir, You Are Being Hunter has recently announced their newest project - The Signal From Tölva. Given the studio's name and the amount of robots present in their previous game, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that The Signal From Tölva is going to be an open-world, sci-fi shooter filled with tons of robots, both big and small.

If you're wondering what all of this looks like and what sort of environments you'll be able to explore, the devs have also released an announcement trailer that, while brief on gameplay, showcases the world rather well. Have a look

Techland is a publisher and developer most famous for their action-oriented games such as Call of Juarez, Dead Island, and the most recent Dying Light. With such a specific set of games behind them, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that their next game is Pure Farming 17: The Simulator... wait a minute!

In a strange turn of events, Techland has teamed up with the independent studio Ice Flames in order to shake up the farming simulator genre and to deliver a "complete farming experience". The announcement "trailer" itself won't tell you very much, but you can at least get a glimpse at what Pure Farming 17 is going to look like:

If you're were hoping to run through cornfields with night-vision camera in hand and dodge creepy, demented villagers this summer, I'm afraid I have some bad, or perhaps good news depending on your perspective.

In a recently posted Facebook message Red Barrels have announced that Outlast 2 has been delayed until the first quarter of 2017 in order to ensure it ends up being the best horror game it can possibly be and that it "will scare the crap out of you". Here's the whole message:

Sanctus Reach is a newly announced Warhammer 40,000 turn-based strategy game

Oh how the times have changed. A couple of years ago you'd be hard pressed to name even a single modern Warhammer 40k game beyond Relic's Dawn of War series, but these days you can find an example in nearly every genre. You've got Eternal Crusade to cower your shooter needs, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada for those more inclined towards real time strategy, the upcoming Inquisitor - Martyr for those itching for some hack & slash action, and the list goes on.

However, among the various genres there is one that to my knowledge doesn't have a proper Warhammer 40k game tied to it, and that's the turn-based strategy one. Thankfully the upcoming Sanctus Reach, a 3D turn-based strategy that follows the struggles between the savage Space Wolves and equally savage Orks, is here to finally fill that little gap. Here's the brief teaser trailer to give you an idea of what's going on:
