Rockstar has released an official statement about singleplayer mods (OpenIV)
- By Ash
- in News
OpenIV, one of the most powerful and popular modding tools for the Grand Theft Auto series, recently received a cease and desist letter from Take-Two Interactive. As you might imagine, the community did not react positively to this show of strength, and soon enough the GTA V Steam page got flooded with a nearly endless stream of negative reviews.
While this is obviously not the best way to get any sort of point across, the rampant negativity over the past few days has now resulted in an official statement from Rockstar themselves. I would love to tell you that they're pulling back their cease and desist request, but I'm afraid that the statement is far more ambiguous than that. Have a look for yourself, you'll quickly see what I mean:
Valfaris is an upcoming action-platformer with some strong heavy metal influences

The developers behind Slain: Back from Hell have announced that their next game Valfaris will be a heavy metal infused 2D action-platformer. Judging from the screenshots alone I would say that Valfaris is a new and improved version of Slain, which is something I am perfectly OK with given that Slain unfortunately didn't manage to live up to its potential.
There is currently no gameplay footage available as Valfaris has just been announced, but if you're interested in seeing what the visuals and music will be like you can check out the recently posted teaser trailer down below. Have a look:
Secret World Legends, an improved version of the ambitious The Secret World MMORPG, is launching next week

The Secret World is one of the most intriguing MMOs I've ever played. Despite being designed with thousands upon thousands of players in mind it still managed to tell an interesting story, one that is full of secrets and conspiracies at every turn. Unfortunately, the actual gameplay in The Secret World was a confusing mess of spells and abilities that not only looked mediocre, but also did barely any damage.
In an effort to correct all of the flaws, and hopefully breathe back life into The Secret World, Funcom will soon be launching a free-to-play reboot by the name of Secret World Legends. It will feature massively revamped combat mechanics, a redesigned progression system, numerous visual improvements, as well as an even bigger focus on storytelling. Its a rather ambitious task, but I really do hope Funcom manages to pull it off as The Secret World deserves far more than the mediocrity it currently wallows in.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will be coming to PC and consoles this October
- By Ash
- in News
Much like Doom, the recent Wolfenstein reboot brought with it a fresh new take on the standard FPS formula. Instead of boring realism and overly serious storylines Wolfenstein: The New Order was all about fast-paced action, ridiculous weaponry, and tons of easily-hateable enemies to mow down. As such, it probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Bethesda has announced a brand new sequel during this year's E3.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will send you to Nazi-controlled America in order to do exactly as you might expect: obliterate everything in your path with an arsenal of increasingly overpowered weaponry. There will obviously be some extra features in there somewhere, but the basic idea of shooting hordes of super-Nazis in the face is good enough on its own to carry a shooter as ridiculous as Wolfenstein.
Titanfall 2's upcoming sixth major free update will add a third weapon slot for Pilots and two new maps

Titanfall 2 developers promised they would continue supporting Titanfall 2 long after launch, and so far they have done an extremely good job. The rather large Monarch Update has only just arrived earlier this month, and already we have a brand new update just looming over the horizon!
The currently unnamed 6th DLC (don't get scared by the name, its a free update) will bring with it two new maps, a whole bunch of balance changes and new features, and most importantly of all, a 3rd weapon slot for Pilots. No longer will you have to choose between having an actual sidearm and a way to fight against Titans! It took them quite a while to realize this fact, but hey, there's no reason to complain about Respawn pushing Titanfall 2 towards a much more balanced and interesting 'meta'.
Hearthstone will soon be getting massive improvements to the drop rate of Legendary cards

I'm not exactly sure what's happening over at Blizzard, but whatever it is I am definitely in favor of these pro-customer moves. The Overwatch devs have just recently announced that the previously extremely unfair Loot Boxes will be transformed into something quite amazing, and now we are getting the exact same announcement from the Hearthstone developers as well.
Starting with the release of Hearthstone's next expansion (though this applies to all card packs), every time you open a Legendary card you will be guaranteed to receive a non-duplicate Legendary card from the same set! This works for both golden and non-golden cards, so don't worry getting duplicates just because you like to have your Legendary cards extra shiny.
Here are my recommendations for Day 1 of the 2017 Steam Summer Sale

After a few weeks of teasers, rumors, and wild theories the Steam Summer Sale has now finally arrived, bringing with it a ridiculous amount of discounted games. However, while that is certainly a good thing, it is not exactly easy to choose only a couple of games when you have thousands upon thousands strewn before you.
In an effort to help out with this little 'problem', and also showcase some great games you might not have otherwise even looked at, I have devised a brief list consisting of five games you should consider grabbing on Day 1 of the Steam Summer Sale. Without further ado, let's begin:
