Endless Space 2's Target Locked Update has added fighter and bomber squadrons
- By Ash
- in News
Besides the usual batch of balance changes and bug fixes, Endless Space 2's Target Locked Update has brought in some rather interesting new content. You can now create dedicated fighter and bomber squadrons to escort your ships, with the bombers being more aggressive and the fighters more defensive, as well as embark on a brand new quest that will have you scour the galaxy in order to figure out who has been letting loose vast swarms of fighters.
Since these are cool new ships we're talking about, allow me to share with you the recently posted preview trailer. It should give you a good idea of what exactly the Target Locked Update brings to the table, as well as offer a close up look at the new escort squadrons in action. Have a gander:
Ubisoft's The Division is completely free to try out until Monday

If you ever felt like giving The Division a try, but didn't really commit to it due to its somewhat mediocre reputation, you'll be glad to hear that Ubisoft is currently holding a free weekend. Simply head over to the official website, create or log in into your Uplay account, and you'll be playing in no time.
The event will only last until Monday, so do make sure to start as soon as possible in order to get a really good look at what The Division is all about. And if you end up liking what you see, you'll also be glad to hear that its 60% off for the duration of the free weekend. While this should go without saying, your progress will carry over from the free to the full version, so don't worry about 'wasted' gameplay.
The original Psychonauts is free to grab from the Humble Store for the next 2 days

With Psychonauts 2 fully funded and slowly on its way, now would be a good time to give the original classic a try and see why exactly its held in such high regard. As such, I am very glad to say that Psychonauts is completely free to grab on the Humble Store for the next two days.
While you're there, you might also want to check out the currently ongoing End of Summer sale. You can grab excellent games such as The Witcher 3, XCOM 2, and Total War: Warhammer at rather considerable discounts, so if you have a bit of free time consider giving them a chance. Personally, I would recommend starting with The Witcher 3 as its one of the most enjoyable action-RPGs I've played in quite a while.
Total War: Warhammer 2's latest video shows off the most impressive locations from the New World

While Total War: Warhammer 2's campaign map will only be slightly larger than the original's, it will cover a lot more of the Warhammer world. Instead of everything being close together on one continent, Total War: Warhammer 2 will be spreading out the action across the High Elf island of Ulthuan, the Dark Elf controlled Naggaroth, the lush jungles of Lustria, and the even the rather enigmatic Southlands.
Creative Assembly has already given us a detailed overview of the Vortex campaign map, but they have never shown us what it looks like from the ground. As such, I am very glad to say that they have now released a brief teaser trailer showing off some of the most visually impressive locations from the New World. Have a look:
Overwatch's Game Director Jeff Kaplan has directly addressed the growing problem of toxicity
- By Ash
- in News
As with any competitive game that forces people to work together, Overwatch has a bit of a problem with toxicity. It also doesn't help that for the past year or so the report system has largely been ineffective, dishing out such minor punishments as chat bans to some of the most vile members of the community.
Thankfully, Blizzard has started treating this problem a bit more seriously over the past few months. The first phase of the plan gave the report system the ability to actually deal with the problematic players, and soon we'll be getting even more changes in an effort to make the whole system a lot more transparent and a lot more effective. If you're interested in all of the details, you'll find what you seek in the most recent Developer Update right below:
The Nights of Azure 2 action-RPG now has a new video showing off the characters and combat
- By Ash
- in News
Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is Koei-Tecmo's upcoming action-RPG set in a demon-infested version of Western Europe somewhere in the 19th century. The story will be centered around three main characters, life-long friends that have suddenly found themselves on the opposite sides of a conflict that is threatening to tear the entire world apart. And since that apparently isn't enough, our protagonist will find herself slowly succumbing to the demonic curse, thus putting an even larger strain on the trio's relationship.
If this sounds like the type of story you'd be interested in, you can get a brief glimpse at the characters and the combat system via the recently posted trailer down below. Have a look:
Tooth and Tail, a fast-paced strategy game from the devs behind Monaco, has now been released
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
Tooth and Tail is a colorful real-time strategy game from the developers behind Monaco, though it does have a couple of twists that set it far apart from the rest of the genre. First of all, the four available factions are all sentient animals caught in an endless civil war over who gets to eat, and who gets to be eaten! So instead of the usual RTS units you'll be marching forth with an army of flamethrower-wielding boars, mustard gas-lobbing skunks, and other such 'cute' combinations.
The second big difference is that Tooth and Tail eschews the usual RTS complexity in favor of gameplay that is easy to pick up and enjoy. There is still a lot of strategy and planning in each of the matches, but you won't be spending a lot of time micromanaging your units or messing around with your base in the middle of combat. An interesting idea to be sure, and if the Steam reviews are to be believed its one that was executed quite nicely, though at the expense of a somewhat weak campaign AI.
