The multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is free to try out on Steam until September 25th

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where one player gets to run around as a monstrous killer, while four others have to do their very best to not get impaled on giant spikes that often seem to litter the levels. It's a fairly simple concept, but once you get a good group going it's also quite an enjoyable one.
So if you're curious about what exactly Dead by Daylight has to offer, and especially if you have a couple of friends that are willing to check out something new, you might be interested to hear that Dead by Daylight is currently free to try out on Steam. The free weekend will last until September 25th, so you should have plenty of time to figure out whether Dead by Daylight is your cup of tea or not.
Overwatch PTR has been updated with Torbjorn and Pharah reworks, as well as some much-needed balance changes

After being fairly silent since the Summer Games event, Overwatch developers have now suddenly released a massive PTR update! Besides the usual batch of bug fixes, this update has brought with it a massive Torbjorn rework, a much smaller Pharah rework, as well as some highly anticipated tweaks to heroes like Soldier, McCree, Orisa and Brigitte.
The Torbjorn changes are simply too massive for me to summarize, so if you're curious about what Blizzard has cooked up for our favorite 'totally not a dwarf', you should head on over to the official website. I'll reserve my full judgement for when I actually get to try him in a proper game, but so far the new Torbjorn seems to be exactly what Blizzard intended - a support-ish DPS hero that can actually be run on both offense and defense!
Telltale Games, the studio behind The Walking Dead adventure game series, is now closing down its doors

This week has not been a good one when it comes to game development. First we got the announcement that Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind the Dead Rising series, will be closing down its doors, and now it appears that the same fate will befall the seemingly invincible adventure game developer Telltale Games.
"It's been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there," reads the brief press release. "We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry".
Just Cause 4 devs have released a lengthy preview showing off all aspects of gameplay

[Note]: Corrected the release date.
Just Cause 4 is set to arrive this December 4th for PC and consoles, bringing with it an even greater amount of explosions and barely justified destruction. You can expect to see a new and much more interesting assortment of weaponry, diverse and occasionally extreme weather effects such as sandstorms or tornadoes, and perhaps most importantly of all, greatly improved AI which will actually use tactics more advanced than "stand and shoot".
Since there is no better way to show you what all of this looks like than with a lengthy gameplay preview, I am very glad to say that the developers have now released exactly that! So if you're curious about what Just Cause 4 has to offer, here's the recently posted and 20-minute long gameplay presentation:
The oldschool MMORPG Lineage 2 will soon be getting Classic servers

Before World of Warcraft revolutionized the MMORPG genre, Lineage 2 was the undisputed king of the castle when it came to truly hardcore MMORPG gameplay. The leveling process was long and arduous, the group content required good coordination with other players or you wouldn't get far, and while I never really dabbled into PvP, it was supposedly quite amazing. The oldschool Lineage 2 was also most definitely a grindy game, but that was just how things were done back in the 'olden days'.
If you're feeling particularly nostalgic about this period of MMO history and you're not afraid of the endless grind, you might be interested to hear that NCsoft has now announced that Lineage 2 Classic will be arriving this October 3rd. As the name itself would imply, Lineage 2 Classic will give you a chance to return to the original game and experience all of it as it once was, both the good and the bad.
Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind Dead Rising, has now been closed down

A few day ago Capcom revealed that all projects were being shut down at Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind the Dead Rising series. While certainly dire news, this still left some room for optimism as the studio could've just been undergoing a restructuring or something similar. Unfortunately, this has turned out to not be the case.
In the latest update Capcom has announced that Capcom Vancouver is shutting down, most of its staff is being laid off, and the ones that remain will only be performing critical duties until the studio is fully closed. Capcom didn't give any concrete reasons as for why the studio is being shut down, but I think it's safe to say that the poor reception of both Dead Rising 3 and 4 is the likely culprit.
Life is Strange 2's launch trailer has now arrived a bit ahead of its September 27th release date

After the massive success of the original Life is Strange and its prequel Before the Storm, the series is set to continue this September 27th with Life is Strange 2. However, unlike the past two games which focused primarily around Max and Chloe, Life is Strange 2 will be bringing in entirely new characters and an entirely new setting.
There are very few details currently available, but what I can tell you is that we will be following Sean and Daniel, two brothers that are forced to run away from home after a tragic accident. As they attempt to flee into Mexico they will discover a mysterious supernatural power, a power that will either save them or get them in even more trouble. A simple enough premise, but there's certainly potential for interesting storytelling here.
