Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be arriving this October 12th for both PC and consoles. While it will not feature a traditional singleplayer campaign, Black Ops 4 will bring with it various story-focused solo missions, the usual batch of multiplayer shenanigans including a massive new Battle Royale game mode, and naturally, a new and improved Zombies mode.

So if you're curious about what sort of insane abominations you'll be fighting against this time, as well as where Black Ops 4 differs from its predecessors, allow me to share with you the recently posted and fairly lengthy in-game trailer. Have a look, it really is quite an interesting video:

After Kingdoms of Amalur, THQ Nordic has now also picked up the rights to Alone in the Dark

[Update]: It took a while, but the classic horror game Alone in the Dark is a getting a modern reimagining!

THQ Nordic has recently announced that they have picked up the rights to Kingdoms of Amalur, an ill-fated and fairly forgotten RPG with a great deal of potential behind it. While we still haven't received any information about what they're actually planning to do with the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, you might be interested to hear that THQ Nordic has decided to continue expanding their repertoire even further!

To be more specific, THQ Nordic has now also acquired the rights to the classic Lovecraftian survival horror Alone in the Dark, as well as the turn-based strategy Act of War. I can't tell you anything about Act of War as I haven't even heard about it until now, but the original Alone in the Dark was a truly revolutionary game that unfortunately ended up getting its name tarnished with some buggy modern games and the 'classic' Uwe Boll movie.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is FromSoftware's newest action-RPG that's set to arrive this March 22nd for both PC and consoles. You can expect to see numerous Bloodborne and Dark Souls elements make a reappearance, things such as the "challenging but fair" difficulty and gigantic levels riddled with secrets, though Sekiro will also have a far greater focus on visceral combat and mobility. There's even going to be a grappling hook we can toy around with!

If you're wondering what all of this looks like in-game, as well as how a boss fight might work under the newly sped up combat system, you should check out the latest preview down below. It features 12 minutes of pure gameplay, as well as a rather intense boss fight against the Corrupted Monk, so you should hopefully get all of the answers you seek. Have a gander:

It would appear that Netflix and Blizzard are teaming up to release a Diablo animated series

Diablo 3's incarnation of Diablo fighting an angel

After the success of the animated Castlevania series, it would appear that Netflix is now once again looking to expand its repertoire with a video game adaptation. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, but the Hellboy writer and Boom Studios founder Andrew Cosby recently tweeted (and subsequently deleted) that he's in the final talks for a Diablo animated series.

“I guess I can confirm I am indeed in final talks to write and show-run the new Diablo animated series for Activision and Netflix,” reads the by now deleted tweet. “It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out.”

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy official artwork featuring Phoenix Wright himself

Despite the Phoenix Wright games being held in high regard by the general public, the series has unfortunately never made its way to PC. Well, that's not exactly true as there is an anime adaptation currently available on Steam, but when it comes to the actual games PC is sadly a bit of a wasteland.

As such, I'm quite pleased to say that the newly announced Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy will be coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch in early 2019! If you're not exactly sure what this entails, you might want to check out the latest trailer as it does a pretty good job of explaining what Phoenix Wright is all about. Have a look:

Call of Cthulhu's newest gameplay trailer shows off twisted cultists and otherworldly horrors

Call of Cthulhu is Cyanide Studio's upcoming video game adaptation of the classic pen & paper RPG of the same name. As you might expect from any game inspired by Lovecraft's work, Call of Cthulhu will have you investigate a mysterious cult filled with twisted figures in dark robes, run away in sheer terror from otherworldly horrors the human mind cannot even comprehend, and naturally, try to make any sort of sense of the situation before going completely and utterly insane.

Since that doesn't exactly tell you much about the actual gameplay, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer as it features a small slice of everything Call of Cthulhu has to offer. Have a gander, it's well worth the couple of minutes:

The horror classic Amnesia: The Dark Descent is getting a tricky new Hard Mode this September 28th

Amnesia: The Dark Descent screenshot of a shadowy monster in the distance

[Update]: Frictional Games have released the full source code for the original two Amnesia games!

While Amnesia: The Dark Descent has a nightmarish atmosphere that keeps you on edge from the very beginning, the actual gameplay is not exactly difficult. Once you learn what the monsters are and how they operate, evading them is a fairly easy job, which unfortunately also makes replaying Amnesia a bit anticlimactic.

With that in mind, I am both glad and somewhat terrified to announce that Frictional Games will be adding Hard Mode alongside the new Xbox One version on September 28th. Hard Mode will disable autosaves and make manual saves cost 4 precious tinderboxes, there will be less consumables sprinkled throughout the levels, and should your sanity ever drop to zero because of the constant darkness, you will simply die of a heart attack!
