[Update #2]: Blizzard will be opening up name reservations for World of Warcraft: Classic on August 12th!

[Update]: World of Warcraft: Classic's final Stress Test has been delayed indefinitely. Thankfully, the full release is still set for August 27th!

If you're one of the lucky few that have managed to snatch a World of Warcraft: Classic beta key, you might want to check out or test whatever you've been putting off because the beta is quickly coming to an end. According to Blizzard's latest announcement, the WoW Classic beta will be closing down its doors on July 12th.

"We have now reached a stage where WoW Classic is in a good state for reconciling remaining issues, and we intend to shift our focus away from the closed beta, which will end on July 12," reads the update. "Internally, we’re working through the aforementioned bug fixes, testing the high-level zones such as Eastern Plaguelands, and doing our raid testing. We’ll make sure Ragnaros and Onyxia are ready to go."

Apex Legends' recent Season 2 update has greatly spruced up the gameplay

While Apex Legends stormed out of the gate with some truly amazing gameplay, the follow-up updates throughout Season 1 haven't exactly been the greatest. There was very little new content to play around with, the weapon 'meta' remained pretty much the same throughout the entire season, and to top it all off, the Battle Pass system required an absurd amount of grinding in order to reach some of the very few interesting rewards.

Thankfully, Season 2 appears to have fixed pretty much all of these problems. Kings Canyon has received a massive makeover, the recent balance changes and hop-up additions have made it so even the weakest weapons have a chance at becoming top-tier, while the Season 2 Battle Pass practically showers you with levels as long as you're paying attention to the challenges. Best of all, there's now even a ranked mode!

Shenmue 3 devs are offering refunds and numerous alternatives to unsatisfied Kickstarter backers

After Shenmue 3 was Kickstarted, the developers issued a couple of surveys that asked backers if they would prefer a PlayStation 4 copy or a Steam PC key. However, since Shenmue 3 recently became a year-long Epic Games Store exclusive, that Steam PC key was replaced with an Epic Games Store one. This left quite a few backers unsatisfied with what they're getting, and as you might imagine, they soon started asking for refunds.

Usually this would be where the story ends, but for whatever reason the Shenmue 3 team decided to deny refunds, which then only fueled the fire and created an even bigger mess. Thankfully, this story does have a happy ending as Ys Net has now announced that they will not only be offering refunds, but also giving backers a choice between a couple of different versions and packages.

Season 17 of Overwatch Competitive Play has now arrived, though without any real changes

Unlike some of the previous seasons that featured breaks as long as a full week, the transition from Season 16 to Season 17 of Overwatch Competitive Play has been nearly instantaneous. So if you're up for a bit of a fresh start, you might want to jump in now that the new season has slightly reshuffled everyone's rank.

As far as major changes are concerned, I'm afraid Season 17 has not brought with it any sort of update. A bit unfortunate, though not exactly surprising given that Blizzard has just recently added replays, a new Baptiste challenge, the Workshop modding tools, as well as a whole bunch of new balance changes.

Apex Legends devs have detailed how the new Ranked Leagues will function

Apex Legends' Season 2 update has now arrived, bringing with it a whole host of improvements. Kings Canyon got a massive makeover, Leviathans and Flyers are all over the place, the weapon balance has been shaken to its very core with weapons like the Alternator becoming top-tier, and there's even a brand new legend called Wattson!

Out of all these changes, the one that will likely have the most impact is the introduction of Ranked Leagues. These Ranked Leagues are essentially competitive seasons where players can climb through numerous tiers in order to face off against better competition, and naturally, get better rewards. Right now only badges have been confirmed as a ranked reward, though Respawn has said they are working on something else as well, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

World of Warcraft devs have released fixes for some of the common problems in Nazjatar and Mechagon

[Update]: WoW's Update 8.2.5 has now brought with it the epic conclusion to the War Campaign.

World of Warcraft's Patch 8.2 arrived a little while ago, bringing with it a whole bunch of new content spread across two zones: Nazjatar and Mechagon. Usually that would be no problem at all, but since some of the new quests require you to kill numerous rare enemies or loot a dozen rare items, the overabundance of players quickly resulted in a lot of frustration for everyone involved. Doubly so considering the quests themselves offer a rather measly amount of reputation.

In order to correct this problem, as well as make the whole daily quest system just a little bit less annoying, Blizzard has now greatly increased the health of rare enemies and made it so they scale faster when new players start to attack them. This should give you plenty of time to figure out where a rare enemy has spawned, walk over there, and still have enough time to tag it for kill credit. And best of all, the "kill three rare enemies in Nazajtar" quest has been reduced to only one, which should make it a lot easier to complete while doing other tasks around the zone.
