If you're in the mood for some platforming action, and you're not afraid of a bit of a challenge, then you might be glad to hear that the truly excellent Rayman Legends is now entirely free to grab! Simply head on over to the Epic Games Store, go through the 'purchasing' process, and you'll be falling into lava in no time.

The one catch, as always, is that this promotion will only be around for a very short amount of time. In other words, you have until December 6th to grab yourself a copy, after which you'll be able to play it whenever you want.

Dota 2 update has added two new heroes and a rather staggering amount of balance changes

Dota 2 artwork for the Outlanders patch and heroes

While Dota 2 updates may be slow, there is no denying that they pack one hell of a punch once they finally do arrive. There is no better example of this than the most recent "The Outlanders" update as it has not only introduced two new heroes and what seems like a million balance changes, but also reshaped the map and changed some of the most fundamental mechanics of Dota.

I won't go into too many details as it is just about impossible to summarize The Outlanders update, but I will give you a little bit of an example of just what it has to offer. First and foremost, every single player now has their own personal courier, while observer wards no longer cost any money! So if you're primarily a support player, rejoice as you'll now actually have gold to spend on yourself instead of sacrificing everything for the team!

[Update #2]: The patch notes for the free update accompanying the DLC have now been released, and apparently the turn-end times will be getting improved by up to 60%!

[Update]: Both Malus and Snikch will be starting in the newly expanded southeastern part of the Mortal Empires map!

Total War: Warhammer 2 will soon be getting The Shadow & The Blade DLC, bringing with it a whole bunch of new features and tweaks to mess around with. Malus Darkblade and Deathmaster Snikch are arriving as unique legendary lords with their very own campaign mechanics, while both the Dark Elves and Skaven are getting a variety of new units to help finish off their roster. Most importantly of all, the free update will also add Repanse de Lyonesse as a legendary lord for Bretonnia, alongside a ~60% turn-end timer reduction for the Mortal Empires campaign!

While the recently posted preview doesn't go into detail about most of these new features, it will give you a pretty good idea of just what Malus Darkblade has to offer, as well as what the new Dark Elf units are all about. Have a peek:

If you're looking to pick up a few more games to play throughout the holiday season, or just to further extended what is likely to be an already bloated backlog, you might want to hurry up as the Steam Autumn Sale is just about ready to end. It'll only be sticking around until 10am PST on December 3rd!

As for what exactly is worth grabbing, that is a tricky question to answer given the amount of games on Steam, but I can offer a couple of suggestions across a variety of genres. Here's what I'd recommend checking out:

[Update]: Red Dead Online has now gone standalone and is only $5 until February, 2021.

After a brief period of exclusivity, the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is now just about ready to make its way to Steam. According to Rockstar Games' recent tweet, you can expect to see it arrive this December 5th alongside all of the currently available patches.

In other words, most of the bugs and crashes that have plagued the PC version throughout its first few weeks should be fixed for the Steam release. Even so, I would highly advise waiting for some of the user reviews to pop up before grabbing yourself a copy, just to be on the safe side.

The latest Humble Bundle is filled to the brim with Sonic the Hedgehog games

If you ever wanted to get into the Sonic the Hedgehog series, this latest Humble Bundle would be a pretty good place to start. It features a variety of classic Sonic games, as well as some of the more modern ones like Sonic Forces and the truly excellent Sonic Mania.

The one thing the bundle is sadly missing out on is Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, a kart racing game that is more than capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Mario Kart. I can only imagine this was done in order to prop up the recently released and somewhat disappointing Team Sonic Racing, but either way, it's a shame to have such an excellent game not featured in this kind of bundle.

Facebook's Oculus has acquired the studio behind the VR hit Beat Saber

At its core, Beat Saber is an incredibly simple VR game. It's all about listening to your favorite music and smashing boxes with lightsabers, which you wouldn't think would be all that addictive, but is actually strangely captivating and quite relaxing if you can accept having sore arms afterwards!

Because of this, Beat Saber has managed to achieve a great deal of success in the VR scene, so much so that Facebook's Oculus has now decided to acquire both it and its developer Beat Games. According to the press release, Beat Games will continue operating as an independent studio, while all of the currently planned Beat Saber updates and features will be arriving as expected.
