Resident Evil 7 biohazard official artwork

Even though Resident Evil 7 shares the same name as its predecessor, it has very little common with Resident Evil 6. Instead of focusing on constant action and explosive set-pieces, Resident Evil 7 is all about the claustrophobic atmosphere and a constant feeling of dread. It might be a Resident Evil game in name alone, but from what I've experienced so far its a damn effective survival horror and a welcome new direction for the series!

If you would like to get a glimpse of it for yourself, here's the recently posted launch trailer. It does feature a couple of monsters and "big moments" from the game itself, so if you want to stay completely spoiler free you might want to think twice about watching it. As for the rest of you, have a look:

Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City ruined castle screenshot

If you love Dark Souls as much as I do I'm afraid I bring some bittersweet news. On one hand Dark Souls 3 will soon be getting its second and final piece of DLC to round up the story, but on the other hand this is also going to be the last piece of Dark Souls content we're ever going to get. FromSoftware will continue developing Souls-like games, don't you worry about that, but the upcoming The Ringed City DLC will be the grand finale for the Dark Souls trilogy.

As far as the story is concerned, the only thing I can tell you right now is that we will be chasing the Slave Knight Gael to the literal end of the world as he searches for the Dark Soul of Humanity. As you might imagine, this journey will be filled with new monsters to mercilessly beat up, a whole bunch of secrets to uncover, and naturally, a variety of bosses to miserably fail against.

If you're wondering what this might look like in gameplay terms, you'll find the recently posted teaser trailer down below. Do bear in mind, however, that there are some spoilers in this video, especially if you have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Dark Souls series and its characters. So if you want to remain completely oblivious I'm afraid you're going to have to skip out on this one. But for the rest of you, here's the video:

Dishonored 2's custom difficulty option

After spending a week in beta, Dishonored 2's long-awaited Game Update 2 is now finally available. It brings with it numerous bug fixes and performance optimizations, and more importantly, the ability to customize your difficulty settings!

By messing around with a variety of sliders you can adjust things such as the effectiveness of cover, how quickly sleep darts take effect, how many active enemies will engage you at the same time, and other such things. And for those among you that love to push themselves to the very limit, there is also a brand new Iron Mode difficulty setting where you don't get to manually save, and where even a single death will lead you to a game over!

Finally, If you're interested in all of the details and bug fixes you can find the official patch notes on the Bethesda website, but if you're just looking for the short version you'll find all of the noteworthy PC and PS4 fixes down below. Here's the list:

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 screenshot of a scoped-in sniper rifle

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is set to arrive this April 4th for both the PC and consoles, but if you would like to give it a spin beforehand you'll be glad to hear that CI Games have announced an open beta. The beta will start on February 3rd, and in order to get in all you'll need to do is sign up on the official website - its that simple!

As far as the content is concerned, the open beta will bring with it two missions to toy around with. In Cut Off you'll need to employ all of your sneaky tactics in order to infiltrate a well guarded compound, while in Blockout you will need to dispose of an equally well-guarded war criminal, ideally from range. While its obvious what sort of playstyle the game recommends you take its still going to be up to you to decide how to tackle each mission, whether that be through stealth or through enough explosions to level a small mountain.

If you're a fan of oldschool beat 'em ups you might want to pay attention to the upcoming Double Dragon 4. It is set to arrive this January 30th in honor of the 30th anniversary of the original Double Dragon, and while that on its own isn't strange, what might come as a slight surprise is that Double Dragon 4 will feature 2D retro visuals and gameplay heavily inspired by the original.

For those of you wondering what this might look like, allow me to share with you the recently posted teaser trailer featuring the greatest heroes of our time - Billy and Jimmy. Silly names aside, here's the video:

The Division screenshot of the new Dark Zones

The Division will soon be getting its third expansion Last Stand along with a brand new game mode that shares the same name, but more importantly, it will soon be getting a massive free update. There's going to be three new deadly Dark Zones to explore, brand new contamination events, a Legendary difficulty setting for a couple of missions, Exotic weapons and gear, a variety of balance changes, and the list goes on.

There is a truly massive amount of changes coming in with Update 1.6, so if you're interested in all of the details you can head on over to the official website to learn more. However, if you're just interested in the 'short' version, allow me to share with you the 'brief' summary. Have a look:

TotalBiscuit as a custom announcer in Starcraft 2

To say that TotalBiscuit has simply been involved in Starcraft 2 would be one hell of an understatement. He not only spent a lot of time casting official matches, but he actually went the extra mile by creating his own competitive team and even funding a couple of tournaments. All of that eventually came to an end, but his impact on Starcraft 2 has been anything but minor.

So if you ever wanted TotalBiscuit to 'cast' your matches, you'll be glad to hear that Blizzard has just announced that the Cynical Brit will be joining Starcraft 2 as a custom announcer in the next patch! You can find a bunch of preview clips by heading over to the official website, but if you're familiar with TotalBiscuit's style of humor you should already know what you're getting into.

Marvel Heroes screenshot showing various heroes

If you belong to the fairly niche group that loves both superheroes and ARPGs/Diablo clones, you might want to check out Marvel Heroes. According to the developers it has just recently received its "biggest update ever", and judging purely by the gigantic size of the patch notes I have very little reason to doubt their claims.

Every single hero has received numerous balance changes, the old way of leveling has been replaced with a new and more streamlined version, and the end-game progression system has been reworked in order to ensure that "the themes are stronger, the benefits are better." All of this is just the tip of the iceberg, however, so if you have a couple of hours to spare you will find the official patch notes by heading over here.

Halo Wars 2 Blitz beta combat gameplay screenshot

Its not often that you get to see an RTS designed for both console and PC, mostly because its incredibly difficult to make a control scheme that works for both parties. As such, I wouldn't really look down upon you if you were skeptical about Halo Wars 2 being as good as its advertising would like you to believe.

However, with the recently opened "Blitz Beta" Microsoft has now given everyone a chance to try it out for themselves, and to see through pure gameplay what Halo Wars 2 has to offer. Do keep in mind that the beta only features the newly created Blitz mode, which lies somewhere between an RTS and collectible card game, but it should still give you a good idea of the general gameplay and its controls. If you're interested in what this might look like, here's the most recent trailer:

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 drone screenshot

It appears that CI Games have managed to do some serious optimization work on Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 as even though its running on the latest CryEngine, and sporting some fairly impressive visuals, the system requirements are surprisingly reasonable. You will need a good CPU in order to run it on anything beyond minimum settings, however, but that's pretty much par for the course in big budget games these days.

So if you're wondering whether you can even run Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, wonder no more as the system requirements have just recently been revealed. Have a look:
