SteamWorld Dig 2 arrived a little while ago, and in order to get people interested in this particular brand of Metroidvania the developers are now offering the original SteamWorld Dig for free. So if you're up for shooting and tunneling your way through a variety of massive levels, simply head on over to Origin.
This promotion will last for a limited time only, though what exactly that means I'm afraid I don't know. The previous free games distributed by Origin were around for quite a few months, so I'd imagine the same will apply to SteamWorld Dig as well, but I would still recommend you get it as soon as possible, just to be on the safe side.

After being teased for a couple of weeks now, Rocket League's Autumn Update has finally arrived. It brings with it the end of Season 5 and the beginning of Season 6, a brand new map by the name of Farmstead, Wasteland and Starbase ARC maps redesigned as standard arenas, as well as a whole bunch of new cosmetics to collect.
In terms of new features, this update has finally added local multiplayer to Rocket League! This is currently only available on the Steam version, but soon everyone will be able to host and join LAN matches for up to eight players without ever needing to connect to the Internet! Besides this amazing addition, the Autumn Update has also added transparent goalposts to make the goalie's life just a little bit easier, as well as the beta version of a new spectator camera to help out the budding esports scene.

After Star Wars Battlefront 1 got a fair bit of criticism due to a lack of content, EA has decided to go all-out with Battlefront 2. There will be a lot more maps to explore and ruin, a large variety of vehicles and weapons spread across the various Star Wars time periods, space-based combat with its own unique ships and gameplay systems, more villains and heroes to play around with, and perhaps most surprisingly of all, a lengthy singleplayer campaign with a focus on storytelling.
While the recently posted preview video won't offer you much of a look at campaign gameplay, it will give you a bit of an idea of just what kind of storyline the developers are going for. Have a look, its actually quite interesting:

While Total War: Warhammer and its sequel are one of the easiest Total War games for new players to jump into, they are still incredibly complex and full of hidden elements you need to pay close attention to. For example, you can smash two armies together and win through sheer strength alone, or you could exploit the enemy's weak leadership with strategic flanking attacks and monstrous infantry to break them before they even deal any damage. The end result is the same, yet the latter tactic will leave you with a much healthier and battle-ready army afterwards.
So if you're new to the Total War series, and especially if you're new to Total War: Warhammer 2, you'll be glad to hear that Creative Assembly has now released a series of guides covering pretty much all of the major gameplay elements. You'll find the various beginner guides over at the official website, and I would heartily recommend you give them a look as the extra knowledge will greatly enhance your campaign experience.

After somewhat ridiculous content like blimps and giant monorails, Cities: Skylines will soon be going eco-friendly with the new Green Cities expansion. As you might expect from the premise alone, there will be a variety of new structures and parks, electric cars and public transportation, alternative service buildings, eco-friendly stores, and the list goes on for quite a while.
Besides the paid content, the expansion will also bring with it a rather significant free update. The details are unfortunately still a bit shaky, but it would appear we'll be getting electric cars, road modding, changes to the whole pollution mechanic, more beautification options in the form of extra parks and trees, as well as a variety of similar features. You can get a good glimpse at what all of this looks like through the recently posted teaser trailer down below. Have a gander:

After a rather lengthy hiatus following the somewhat disappointing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, the series will be making its hopefully triumphant return with Assassin's Creed: Origins next month. It will bring with it a setting not often seen in gaming, a somewhat realistic depiction of Ancient Egypt, as well as a variety of gameplay improvements, the most important of which is the shift from 1-on-1 dueling to a more tactical system that rewards stealth, positioning, and clever usage of gadgets above all else.
While the recently posted cinematic trailer will not give you a good look at the gameplay, it will at least show you what sort of theme and visuals the developers are aiming for. Have a look, the trailer is quite a sight to behold:

Following in the footsteps of Hearthstone's adventures, CDPR has just released the very first seasonal event for Gwent - The Mahakam Ale Festival. It consists of three singleplayer duels with custom decks, unique new cards, some rather funky new rules, and naturally, an optional hard mode that offers even greater rewards. If you manage to complete all of it you'll also be given an exclusive Odrin player icon and a surprisingly good-looking flagon themed border.
The whole process, including all of the hard modes, took me around 50 minutes to complete, and I am very glad to say that those 50 minutes were well spent! The only real complaint I have with The Mahakam Ale Festival is that there isn't enough of it, but that will hopefully be rectified in future events given how positively the community has reacted to this one. Oh, and its also worth mentioning that the event is completely free to enter. So if you have Gwent installed, go and give it a look, its damn good fun!

If you would like to give the original classic a try simply head on over to Steam, press that giant green "Install Game" button, and you'll be slaying super mutants in no time.
Speaking of time, its important to mention that you don't have a lot of it to grab Fallout for free. This promotion will only last until September 30th at 11:59PM PST, so make sure to snatch yourself a copy as soon as possible. You don't even need to install it immediately in order to own it forever, you just need to add it to your account by starting the process.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will be sending us to Nazi-controlled America in order to clean up the place, by which I mean obliterate everything even remotely hostile with an arsenal of increasingly over-the-top weaponry. What you might not expect, however, is that Wolfenstein 2 will have a heavy focus on storytelling and character development, in addition to all of the wanton destruction.
With Wolfenstein 2's launch date fast approaching the developers have now released a rather lengthy gameplay preview showing off the war-ravaged streets of New Orleans. More importantly, the gameplay video features both action and story, so if you're interested in finding out what Wolfenstein 2 is all about this would be a very good first stop. Have a look:

Battlerite is the spiritual successor to Bloodline Champions, and much like its predecessor its a highly competitive brawler with a wide variety of unique characters to choose from. Most importantly, there is absolutely no randomness present in any aspect of gameplay, so all that matters is personal skill and the ability to cooperate with your teammates.
If this sounds like the type of PvP game you would love to sink your teeth into, you'll be glad to hear that Battlerite is completely free to try out on Steam until Monday, October 1st. And if you end up liking what you see, you'll also be glad to hear that Battlerite will be on a 50% discount until October 2nd. In other words, don't feel rushed to make a purchase. You'll have an entire day to ponder over your decision after the free weekend ends.
