Accordion Cobra from the newly announced AereA RPG

AereA is a newly announced action RPG in which music plays a pivotal role given how your goal is to restore balance to the world by finding and returning the nine primordial instruments. While the premise appears to be somewhat insane the concept itself is quite solid. You have four different characters to toy around with, each with their own unique set of abilities, and a whole bunch of locations to explore before squaring off against a variety of unique (and musically themed) bosses.

If you're still confused you can check out what all of this looks like in-game through the recently posted trailer. There is unfortunately no actual gameplay on display, but you'll at least get an idea of what type of atmosphere AereA is aiming for. Have a look:

official artwork for the point and click adventure game Herald

In the most basic terms, Herald is a choice-driven adventure game set during an alternate 19th century in which the West has united as a colonial superpower. As the entire story takes place aboard the merchant ship Herald its going to be up to you to ensure the peace between the passengers and crew by resolving their daily squabbles before they turn into something far worse. And if dealing with a bunch of angry people stuck in tight quarters wasn't hard enough as it is, the Herald is also a home to a great mystery which you will need to slowly uncover as the story progresses.

Since trying to explain all of this in a single paragraph is a bit difficult, allow me to instead show you the recently posted trailer. It does a rather good job of explaining what Herald and its story are all about. Have a look:

Nex Machina gameplay screenshot showing a giant laser

Nex Machina is a fast-paced twin-stick shooter that's entirely focused on over-the-top action and voxel-based destruction. It was originally announced as PlayStation 4 exclusive, but has now been confirmed for the PC as well. The PC version will naturally bring with it controller support, but if you don't own one there is no need to worry as the developers are working to ensure the mouse & keyboard configuration works just as well.

If you're wondering what Nex Machina looks like in action, wonder no more as the developers have posted a new trailer showcasing the PC version in all of its 4K glory. Before you dive in make sure to also turn up your volume as the soundtrack seems to be quite fitting for the carnage on display. Have a look:

Overload screenshot showing a duel in tight corridors

While its logo might be eerily similar to the Blizzard's monolithic shooter, Overload is a different beast entirely. Whereas Overwatch is mostly a classic FPS game with a couple of twists, Overload is actually a six-degree-of-freedom shooter from the makers of the original Descent. What this means in gameplay terms is that your little spacecraft can rotate and spin in any direction you want it to!

Since trying to explain this concept through words alone is a bit difficult, allow me to share with you the recently posted launch trailer. It will give you a good idea of what six-degree-of-freedom movement really means, and most importantly, what Overload is all about. Have a look:

Tale of Ronin artwork for the shogun and his samurai army

If you're a fan of Samurai and the legends that surround them you might want to keep an eye on the newly announced Tale of Ronin. While there isn't much information available right now, I can tell you that Tale of Ronin will be a hand-painted RPG set in a dynamic world where you will need to forge your own destiny as a free Ronin, or in other words a Samurai without a master.

Since so much of Tale of Ronin hinges on the presentation it would probably be for the best you first check out the announcement trailer. There isn't much in terms of actual gameplay, but just seeing the art style should be enough to pique your interest. Have a look:

Slime-san official promo artwork

Slime-san is a rather unique looking fast-paced platformer starring a sentient blob of goo trying to escape from a giant worm's stomach. While the setting might be utterly bizarre, Slime-san brings with it some genuinely interesting mechanics. Since our lovely hero is a slime he's able to crawl through cracks in walls, but also use his own goop in order to speed up or slow down, which should go a long way towards making some of the more precise maneuvers actually manageable.

If you're wondering what this sort of madness looks like in gameplay terms you'll find the main trailer down below. I would recommend turning up the sound slightly because the chiptune music is surprisingly catchy! Anyway, have a look:

Away: Journey to the Unexpected screenshot of the big bad lava boss

Away: Journey to the Unexpected is a newly announced first person rogue-lite from the French indie studio Aurelien Regard. It features colorful and anime styled 3D environments, while the character themselves are seemingly well detailed and extremely expressive 2D sprites. I'm not sure whether I'm correct about that last part, but the important thing is that Away looks great in motion!

If you would like to see it for yourself you'll find the recently posted announcement trailer down below. Just bear in mind that all of the footage comes from an incredibly early version of the game, so expect to see numerous improvements between now and Away's 2017 release date. Anyway, here's the video:

Phantom Trigger screenshot of a battle with tentacle monsters

Phantom Trigger is a colorful but hardcore hack & slash sprinkled with roguelike and RPG elements. In other words, it features a deep combat system that revolves around unlocking combos and upgrading weapons, roguelike-style dungeons, and apparently even a branching story with multiple endings.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in gameplay terms you'll find the recently posted announcement trailer right below. Just do keep in mind that all of this is footage from a pre-alpha version, so chances are some of the gameplay elements will change by the time Phantom Trigger reaches release. Anyway, here's the video:

Reflex Arena screenshot of two robots rocket jumping

If its oldschool FPS gaming that you seek, you might want to take a look at the recently released arena shooter Reflex. It features a wide array of powerful weapons, an intense focus on speed and precision, and naturally, plenty of ways for personal skill to shine.

Since trying to explain something like this through words alone is a pointless venture, allow me to share with you the launch trailer. It briefly goes over all of the important features, and it showcases plenty of pure gameplay, so you should get a good idea of what Reflex is all about. Have a look:

Syberia 3 official promo artwork

[Update]: Syberia: The World Before, the final game in the series Benoît Sokal worked on himself, is coming to PC on March 18th, 2022.

More than thirteen years have passed since Syberia 2, and if there are still any fans of the series out there you will be glad to hear that the long-awaited sequel is coming this April 25th. And for those of you that don't know anything about the series, Syberia 3 will be a 3D adventure game that will have you explore a mysterious world filled with a wide variety of intriguing characters. Despite the number three at the end Syberia 3 will tell a completely different tale from the previous two games, so don't worry about missing out on any of the story if this is your introduction to the series.

Speaking of stories, you'll find the most recent "Discover" trailer down below. It features very little in terms of actual gameplay, but it should at least give you an idea of what Syberia 3's world is like. Have a look:
