If you're a fan of Samurai and the legends that surround them you might want to keep an eye on the newly announced Tale of Ronin. While there isn't much information available right now, I can tell you that Tale of Ronin will be a hand-painted RPG set in a dynamic world where you will need to forge your own destiny as a free Ronin, or in other words a Samurai without a master.
Since so much of Tale of Ronin hinges on the presentation it would probably be for the best you first check out the announcement trailer. There isn't much in terms of actual gameplay, but just seeing the art style should be enough to pique your interest. Have a look:
Besides looking downright gorgeous Tale of Ronin will also feature a turn-based combat system that "includes the details of Katana swordsmanship". What exactly that means, I have absolutely no idea, but apparently there will be permadeath so I hope you're a quick learner! On the positive side, while your samurai may die the world will still continue. As such you'll be able to play the story of a new Ronin in the same world after each death, slowly but surely shaping the overall narrative.
If you would like to learn a tiny bit more, or just check out a whole bunch of images, you'll find what you seek on the official website. As for me, allow me to send you off with a couple of my favorite pieces:
